00:00Following a few good years of Battle Royale games dominating the market, the last year or two have
00:06belonged to the Souls-like genre, and Lies of Pea by developer NeoWiz Games and Round 8 Studio
00:12is the latest in the exploding trend. While this game might seem a little too much like Elden Ring
00:19at times, it's got plenty to it that keeps it unique. IGN reports one of the ways it does set
00:25itself apart is with its story, which is a dark reimagining of Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio,
00:32a story about a mischievous puppet known for telling falsehoods and longing to become a real boy.
00:38Lies of Pea's version takes a lot of liberty in its much more gory and depressing version of the
00:44classic tale. Lies of Pea also has a few mechanics that help set the game apart from other Souls-like
00:50games. According to Dual Shockers, one such example is that you have your robotic Legion
00:56arm that comes with unique abilities to supplement your combat, be it a strong punch or a ranged grenade
01:03attack. You get a couple of uses with it per use of a respawn point, providing some good utility and
01:09extra damage. But with well-executed Souls-like action, some fresh ideas, a solid map full of places
01:16to explore and travel to, beautiful design and impressive world-building, this story is one that
01:22is well worth checking out. Lies of Pea comes out September 19th and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.
