Tesla unveiled a cheaper Model 3 Standard in Europe as it fights softening demand and rising competition. The new trim cuts some premium features but still delivers over 300 miles of range, with deliveries expected in early 2026. The move follows concerns about slowing sales after Musk scrapped the $25,000 EV and as registrations decline across Europe. Analysts warn that lower-priced trims could cannibalize Tesla’s higher-margin models, especially with Volkswagen, BYD, and other rivals pushing sub-$30,000 EVs. Tesla already introduced a lower-cost Model Y in October. While Musk is shifting long-term focus toward AI, robotaxis, and humanoid robots, new affordable vehicles remain critical to Tesla’s near-term revenue engine.
