00:00Amid growing security concerns, President Marcos reaffirms his support for the military, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve resources and welfare for uniformed personnel, while addressing political noise surrounding these initiatives. Patrick DeJesus tells us more.
00:17President Ferdinand Aram Marcos Jr. visited the Eastern Mindanao Command at Campanakan in Davao City, together with AFP Chief of Staff, General Romeo Browner Jr.
00:30During the Situation Briefing, the Commander-in-Chief was updated on operations against insurgency, maritime patrol, and disaster response in the region.
00:40The President also joined the troops of East Mincoma in a budal feast. He then assured them of strengthened equipment and enhanced military capabilities.
00:51This includes the recent approval of the increase in the base pay of military and uniformed personnel.
00:57The palace insists that the President's support for the troops should not be politicized. This follows criticisms from some groups, claiming the timing is connected to allege destabilization efforts against the government.
01:25The Department of National Defense also defended the pay increase for MUPs, saying it is long overdue and not a form of bribery.
01:35Napakahirap nung kanilang trabaho.
02:03In line with the President's executive order, the implementation of the 15% base pay increase divided into three tranches starting 2026 is now under review.
02:16The President has already triggered it with an order to create a technical working group.
02:23Malacanang also responded to calls for a wage increase for ordinary workers.
02:28Meron po tayo sa tripartite board, meron po increase. Hindi po ito makakaila. Yung sinasabi po nilang wage hike, 200 pesos, ito po ay saklaw ng Kongreso.
02:38Meanwhile, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict is not ruling out the possibility that communist groups might exploit corruption issues to regain their influence.
02:52Although the calls against corruption are valid, the NTF-ELCAC said the public should still carefully examine the motives of certain groups.
03:01They will try to capitalize on these valid issues to radicalize some of us. So we just have to be very vigilant also against this without of course us discouraging people from supporting yung mga calls for to get rid of corruption in the government.
03:25According to NTF-ELCAC estimates, the number of new People's Army members has further dropped to around 700 from its peak of about 25,000.
03:36The NTF-ELCAC also highlighted that in its seventh year, around 4,800 formerly conflict-affected barangays have benefited from the Barangay Development Program along with assistance for former rebels under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
03:56Patrick De Jesus from the National TV Network for a New and Better Philippines.
