00:00I mean, Hugh was definitely my best friend on the first one.

00:04Then they actually started bringing in cast members that were closer to my age.

00:08Anna Paquin says her best pal on the set of X-Men was Hugh Jackman,

00:11and he was brutalized while making the movie.

00:14I'll have a beer.

00:20When Oscar winner Paquin dropped by Sirius XM's The Jess Cagle Show,

00:24she opened up about working with Jackman on the film that came out in 2000.

00:28Hugh was the person I was always close to because I had all my scenes with him,

00:31and he's just wonderful.

00:33And, you know, we spent so much time together in the first one.

00:38And because they were friends, Paquin says she felt bad for how physical his Wolverine role was in the film.

00:43I mean, he got put through the wringer on that first one and never, ever complained.

00:48Never, you know, be like minus 40.

00:50He's being dropped off some building onto his back over and over and over again.

00:55She continued, and he still has all the time in the world to be a nice, normal person.

01:00The actress also delighted in recalling how she had to help Jackman with his character's signature cigar

01:04while his Wolverine claws were out.

01:06I did have to pick cigar out of his teeth because he actually couldn't do it with his claws

01:11without causing personal damage.
