00:17Ashley opened by thanking everyone who has reached out with condolences.

00:21Ashley revealed the cause of her mother's death.

00:23I will share with you that she used a weapon.

00:25Mother used a firearm.

00:27So that's the piece of information that we are very uncomfortable sharing.

00:31Judd said she chose to do the interview because the family wanted to reveal the information on their own

00:36so they could control the news about their mother's death before autopsy results were released.

00:41When we're talking about mental illness, it's very important to be clear

00:46and to make the distinction between our loved one and the disease.

00:49Sisters Ashley and Winona Judd issued a joint statement

00:52in which they announced Naomi Judd's death on April 30th.

00:55We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness.

00:58We are shattered.

00:59We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her,

01:03she was loved by her public.
