Special units of Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) carried out another high-impact operation in Russian-occupied Crimea. On the night of December 4, 2025, a Ukrainian kamikaze drone struck and destroyed a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet parked at the Kacha military airfield, near Sevastopol. According to the GUR press service, the mission was conducted by the special subunit “Primari”, which has been responsible for multiple strategic sabotage operations targeting Russian military assets in occupied territory. In addition to destroying the MiG-29, the same night’s attack also neutralized the “Irtysh” airfield radar complex located near Simferopol. The system, essential for air-traffic control and for supporting Russia’s air-defense network, was completely disabled. According to the GUR, these operations are part of an ongoing campaign to weaken Russian air defenses in the peninsula by striking radar systems, anti-aircraft complexes, and now, combat aircraft based in Crimea.
