World risks 'disintegration of the international order' as Macron urges Xi to back Ukraine peace

00:07Macron on Thursday for talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The war in Ukraine was the first
00:14topic on the agenda. While China says it wants peace, it has never condemned Russia's invasion
00:20and has hosted President Vladimir Putin several times since the conflict began. Brussels also
00:27suspects China of supplying military components to Russia. Macron urged Xi to pressure Moscow,
00:34but Xi rejected any responsibility for the crisis. Macron, joined by 35 business leaders,
00:41also pushed for cross-investments to rebalance trade and called for cooperation with the G7
00:48on rules-based economic governance. Trade imbalances from electric cars to steel
00:54remain a major point of friction with China. At the end of the talks,
00:59the two countries signed a letter of intent to strengthen cooperation.
