00:00Peacocks, here come the Irish season 2, premieres Monday, December 8th, and I'm luckily to have
00:05two of the stars of the show and probably the most dynamic duo in college football in
00:12terms of the backfield.
00:13Say what's up to Notre Dame running backs, Jeremiah Love and Jadarian Price.
00:17What's going on, fellas?
00:18Like, should I ask for an autograph?
00:20You're all TV stars, man.
00:21What's up?
00:22Man, nothing much, man.
00:23I'm just glad to be here.
00:24Yeah?
00:24Glad to see you.
00:26Oh, thanks, man.
00:27You're making me blush.
00:28Well, let's talk about here come the Irish.
00:30Obviously, you two, you know, you guys are highlighted on it.
00:32I watched the first episode, really dope episode, kind of giving the people the behind the scenes
00:37of what the culture is like at Notre Dame.
00:41I guess, talk to me, we'll go, you know, one at a time.
00:45What was it like just having the cameras following you around while you guys are going through
00:49your journey of a football season?
00:51So, initially, you know, last season I started, so it took some getting used to having the cameras
00:58on us at all times.
01:00But as we, you know, got, you know, started with this season, got a little bit more used
01:05to it.
01:06Okay.
01:06Because last season went through that whole spill with all that, and this season, I mean,
01:11cameras are everywhere, and it's just natural.
01:13You know, like, I really don't even notice the cameras anymore.
01:16Really?
01:16Okay, okay.
01:18It's just there.
01:19It's part of our, you know, daily lives now, you know, being on the Notre Dame football team.
01:24Yeah, man.
01:25I mean, I like it, to be honest.
01:28You know, I think it lets them tell a story in a very authentic way, you know, and I've been
01:34scripted, you know.
01:34So, yeah, it just feels natural now.
01:38J.D., what about you?
01:39You like the cameras all, you look all up in the face, you know?
01:42Yeah, at first, like you said, last season, when we started the documentary, it was a
01:46little weird at first, getting used to cameras everywhere, and while Coach is giving his little
01:52speech, there's a camera 10 feet away from him, you're like, oh, like, trying not to look
01:56over there.
01:57But it was important to just stay focused, because we knew at Notre Dame, there's a standard
02:01and how we play and how we prepare every day, and a part of our preparation, there was a
02:06lot of cameras and a lot of, you know, behind the scenes stuff going on, but we had to continue
02:10to focus and realize that we had a common goal in mind.
02:14But I think it's a good thing.
02:16I really enjoyed it.
02:18I enjoyed last season.
02:19My family enjoys it, and a big thing, like, they're getting all the families involved as
02:25well.
02:25I think that's pretty good.
02:26I think some people have seen some stories about Jeremiah, and I think they saw one about
02:32Riley Leonard last year.
02:34Just, you know, those behind the scenes, those stories are just, you know, fans love to see
02:38it, you know?
02:39Like Kanye said, I'm going to get on this TV, mama.
02:43Back in 2003, like, you guys are lucky you guys are able to do this, because I'm going
02:47to have one of my back-in-my-day moments.
02:502003, I'm playing football in college.
02:52I'm bringing out the camera, you know, trying to get some behind the scenes.
02:55And the same thing when I was in the NFL with the Dolphins and up in Canada, up in Montreal,
03:00that would be labeled a distraction.
03:03Now, you guys got to have your camera phones out.
03:07So what's that like, not only having the schedule that you have as student-athletes, but also
03:14being a brand and having to create content as well?
03:19I'll point it back to what J.D. said.
03:21I mean, it's part of our daily lives.
03:26But when it's time to focus on football, it's time to focus on football.
03:29You know, cameras are there.
03:30All that stuff is always there.
03:33But when it's time to, you know, lock in, we got to lock in and we got to keep football
03:38full bar and, you know, creating media stuff, media.
03:43So it's kind of just two separate worlds that you got to live in and you got to be okay
03:48with that.
03:49But, you know, I feel like as guys on the learning football team, we do a good job of separating
03:55those two lifestyles.
03:57Like, we're football players at this time and another time we got to, you know, create,
04:01you know, things brand-wise and media and do media stuff.
04:05But two separate lives we live.
04:06J.D., what's it like when you kind of go on social media and you see dudes, other dudes
04:12from another team at a P5 program doing TikTok dances and stuff in a locker room?
04:17Yeah, me personally, I'm not a huge social media guy.
04:21I never really have been.
04:22But the older I've gotten, the more I understood that you do need to build your brand, build
04:29up your reputation and just, you know, create a good image of yourself online.
04:33Because people are following you, you know, there can be, you know, there's a lot of little
04:38kids that look up to you.
04:39There's even older people that look up to you, too, and they're following what you're doing
04:44online and things like that and just showing that reputation.
04:47But I don't really have anything against the guys who do TikTok dances and stuff.
04:52And some of my teammates have recruited me to get in on a couple videos.
04:56Okay, okay.
04:56I don't know if those have surfaced.
04:58But, yeah, I'm not a huge TikTok guy, but I think it's important to build your brand for
05:03sure.
05:03A note to our producers, we got some digging to do.
05:06Don't let me see you all up in the videos, how I'm shaking and all that.
05:10All right, let's talk about this duo, man.
05:13You guys are, again, like I said at the beginning, you guys are one of the most dynamic duos in
05:17terms of a backfield in the country.
05:20How does it work?
05:23I would say it's just unselfishness in the room.
05:28None of the guys in this room, in the running back room, are selfish.
05:35Whenever it's my time to go out there and play, I go out there and do what I got to do.
05:39But when JD goes in, it's his time.
05:41We really just root for each other, make sure that we're relaying important information throughout
05:48the game so that when certain looks pop up, the other can execute what the other may not
05:52have executed the right way.
05:54But it's that type of unselfishness of wanting the other to succeed, sometimes more than you want
06:02yourself to succeed, that allows us to do the great things that we do on the field.
06:08I feel like that's just the dynamic on the team in general.
06:11Everybody wants each other to do their best and to have some of that spotlight that a lot
06:19of times some players get more than others, but everybody wants to make each other look
06:24good as well, too.
06:26JD, do you feel any pressure when you come in for him?
06:28This guy's up for the highest man.
06:30Now he may need a big run.
06:32He needs a breather.
06:34Do you step in?
06:35Do you kind of force it or are you just like, man, we're playing football.
06:38This is what I do.
06:39So, yeah, you can't get caught up in it too much.
06:42You just go out there and play.
06:44And, Jeremiah, I don't know if you remember, but coach would always say, hold, serve.
06:48J-Love goes out there and make a play and he'd say, hold, serve, which is an inside joke
06:51we have.
06:52Okay.
06:52All right, let me go out there and match it.
06:54It's that kind of thing.
06:55It's just the inner room competitiveness, but it's healthy competitiveness.
07:00Yep.
07:01And it shows it makes us better.
07:02And like he said, you know, Jeremiah gets out there first couple of series and really get
07:07the flow of the game because it's important as a running back to get the flow.
07:10But also the communication aspect is important.
07:13We're on the sideline watching the safeties and see what's going on.
07:16But also when we get to the sideline, J-Love will tell us what he sees or whatnot.
07:20And then when I'm in the game, I get to the sideline and tell him what I see.
07:23Just trying to make each other better because at the end of the day, you know, we're really
07:27trying to do this for Team Gore.
07:28We're trying to win the game.
07:28We're trying to get as many yards on offense as we can, be the most explosive offense.
07:32So if we can help each other throughout the game, it'll benefit both of us.
07:36You guys have been killing at it, been doing a great job.
07:39You yourself have been doing a great job as well.
07:41I mean, the Fighting Irish haven't had someone win the Heisman since 1987.
07:47Wide receiver, leave it to the receivers, Tim Brown.
07:50I mean, for you, man, like what does that mean to be in the race?
07:55And two, what would it mean for you to win it?
07:57I feel like me being in a race is just a testament to how good this team is.
08:03Okay.
08:04You know, I feel like the Heisman Trophy is a trophy that should be given not only to like,
08:12you know, the people say to the best player that year, but I feel like it goes to the
08:16player that's on really like one of the best teams that year as well.
08:21Because at the end of the day, it's a team sport.
08:23You don't do anything out there on your own.
08:24So, if I was, you know, going on to come back to New York and, you know, win the Heisman,
08:31I feel like that would just be the greatest honor, you know, being able to represent my
08:36team on, I feel like, really the, that's the biggest, you know, accolade you can have.
08:42Absolutely.
08:43On this level.
08:44I feel like that would just be a great thing for this team because it would show not only
08:49am, you know, I'm going out there and doing what I got to do, but the team has helped me
08:54to get to that point, you know.
08:56So, it would be a great honor to win it.
08:59But at the end of the day, this team has helped me to accomplish everything I've accomplished
09:03so far.
09:04Well, if you come back to New York, you already got the suit on, you know.
09:08My man was already ready.
09:10Like, I absolutely love it.
09:11But, J.D., I'm going to put you on the spot as a national championship or bust this season.
09:16That's every season.
09:17You know, that's the expectations.
09:21You know, we're at Notre Dame and, you know, what we did last year doesn't happen very often,
09:28especially with all the noise early on in the season, what happened to us.
09:31But we had a lot of noise early on this season.
09:34Not saying that it's similar, but it's a completely different season.
09:37We're a completely different team.
09:38But we've learned from the losses and all the adversity.
09:42We're still going through struggle, but we're finding ways to get better as a team.
09:46And I believe that.
09:47And I truly believe we're going to be an even better team when the playoffs come.
09:50Nice.
09:51All right.
09:52I'm going to put you guys on the spot right now because I'm 41 years old.
09:55I know I don't look like it.
09:57But since you're up for the Heisman, I'm going to have you two work together on this one.
10:01I got some pictures of some former Heisman winners.
10:05I'm going to see if you guys know who these people are.
10:07All right.
10:09Don't make me feel too old on this one.
10:11I'm going to start with recent, and then we're going to go back.
10:13I got six for you.
10:14You guys ready?
10:16Who is this man?
10:17Oh, Jameis Winston.
10:19T. Jameis Winston, yeah.
10:20Jameis Winston.
10:21Survey says.
10:22All right.
10:23Jameis Winston.
10:24There we go.
10:26Who is this man?
10:29Tim Tebow, man.
10:30Tim Tebow.
10:30Why?
10:31You didn't know who Tim Tebow was, though?
10:32I answered the last one.
10:33Oh, okay.
10:34Okay.
10:35Okay.
10:35All right, all right, all right.
10:37You're two for two right now.
10:38Let's go back a little bit more.
10:41Who is this man?
10:46Oh, my God.
10:48That's Ricky Waters.
10:49Ricky who?
10:51Who?
10:51William.
10:52Ricky Williams.
10:52Ricky Williams.
10:53Bro, bro, bro, hey, man.
10:57You're the crutch.
10:58You're the crutch in this relationship.
11:00All right, here we go.
11:00Let's go back a little more on this one.
11:031988.
11:06There you go.
11:08Oh, he just passed it off to the side.
11:10Come on, man.
11:11Oklahoma State.
11:12Oh, man.
11:12I don't know.
11:15I don't know.
11:17I ain't watch football.
11:18You didn't watch football.
11:19What were you watching?
11:20Pokemon?
11:21Like, what?
11:21That's one of the greatest running backs of all time.
11:27All right, let's make Detroit Lions.
11:30Barry Sanders.
11:30All right, there we go.
11:32All right.
11:32All right.
11:33One day, like 20, 30 years from now, you're going to have you up here.
11:39Some kid's going to be like, I don't know.
11:41Who's that?
11:47I don't know.
11:48What year is this?
11:48Give me a hint.
11:501987.
11:51No clue.
11:52Before TikTok.
11:53You guys don't know who that is.
11:55That's a legend.
11:56Who is it?
11:57That's a Notre Dame legend right there.
11:59Who is it?
12:00The last Heisman winner, Tim Brown.
12:04Tim, if you're watching this, man.
12:06Tim's about to call y'all and text y'all.
12:07All right, now.
12:08I need it.
12:08I need that.
12:09I just needed a hint.
12:11All right, that's all you needed a hint.
12:13All right.
12:13He was a monster in Madden.
12:1699 speed.
12:17Oh, man.
12:17Raiders teams back in the day.
12:20Last but not least, who is this guy right here?
12:27I give you a hint.
12:28That was, dang.
12:30The year I was born, 1984.
12:32His last name start with an M?
12:33No.
12:34No.
12:35No?
12:35It starts with an F.
12:37An F?
12:40Initials D-F.
12:41D-F.
12:41Boston College.
12:43D-F.
12:43I know I'm not supposed to say Boston College is right here, but Boston College.
12:47Danny?
12:48Who?
12:49Is his first name Danny?
12:50Danny?
12:51No.
12:52There used to be a famous cartoon back in the day with his first name.
12:57What was his last name?
12:59I'm going to give you that.
13:00All right, first name Doug.
13:02Doug.
13:03You remember that cartoon?
13:04Doug?
13:05No, I don't know Doug.
13:06Initial is D-F.
13:07D-F.
13:08Doug.
13:09Last name is an instrument.
13:12Flute.
13:13Okay, so put that together.
13:14Doug, flute.
13:19Doug Flutie.
13:20Doug Flutie.
13:20Doug Flutie.
13:21Doug Flutie.
13:21I know.
13:22I know.
13:23Oh, man.
13:24I know who you are.
13:26Did you put no Derrick Henry on there?
13:27You put no Derrick Henry on there?
13:28No, because you know who Derrick Henry is.
13:30We got to go throwbacks.
13:31These are the old school.
13:32You might be in one of them Heisman House commercials one day.
13:35Both of y'all might be in one one day.
13:38Somebody's going to walk by.
13:39You're going to be like, who is this old guy?
13:41Dang.
13:42All right.
13:42Some legends on there.
13:43Barry Sanders.
13:44All right, man.
13:45Last one, real quick, because I was talking to Coach Freeman,
13:49asking him about himself.
13:50He's a great leader of men.
13:51I asked him, tell us something about him that no one may know.
13:54He said he's boring.
13:55Tell us something about Coach Freeman that the world may not know.
14:06He is a competitor just like us.
14:12Talk a little trash on the sideline, whether it's to us or just how all coaches do.
14:17He played football once.
14:19He's a competitor like us.
14:20And that even goes to the card games, Spades.
14:24Like, he tried to get me to play.
14:25I'm like, I ain't really good.
14:25Coach is a Spades guy?
14:26I've seen how him and Coach Meekins be going at it the night before the game.
14:30So, I can't really.
14:31Oh, man.
14:32Okay.
14:32I'm not competitive enough with the cards to play Spades yet.
14:36And Spades is something.
14:38You got to bring it when you play Spades, man.
14:40When you sit down at the table.
14:42Last one.
14:42I'll say you're Savage.
14:44Savage.
14:45Yeah, I'll just leave it at that.
14:46Okay.
14:46Well, y'all throwing all the inside jokes out today.
14:50Savage.
14:50Absolutely love it, man.
14:51But, hey, congratulations to you guys with the success that you're having.
14:55Good luck.
14:56Hope you guys get into the playoffs and you're able to make that run to, you know, kind of
15:00go back and get that national championship.
15:02And make sure you guys check out Here Come the Irish that premieres on December 8th.
15:08You guys ready to see yourselves on TV again, right?
