00:00Sabrina Carpenter slams White House after song is used in ice arrest video.
00:05Sabrina Carpenter is calling out the Trump administration after her music was used in
00:09a video promoting immigration arrests without her approval.
00:13According to People, Carpenter, 26, is currently on her short and sweet tour, where she often
00:18brings a fan or celebrity on stage for a playful arrest during her performance of her 2024
00:24track Juno.
00:26But on Monday, December 1st, that same song appeared in a very different context.
00:31The Trump White House used Juno as the soundtrack for a video highlighting ice arrests, posting
00:37it across social media.
00:39Have you ever tried this one?
00:40Bye-bye, the official White House account wrote on X, referencing one of the song's lyrics.
00:45Sabrina Carpenter condemned the administration's use of her music, calling it evil and disgusting
00:50on X.
00:52The White House responded the same day through spokesperson Abigail Jackson, refusing to
00:56apologize and criticizing anyone who defends those they deport as stupid or is it slow.
01:02Carpenter did not indicate whether she plans to take further action over the use of her
01:07song, and it remains unclear whether the administration sought permission before using Juno.
01:12She is not the first artist to clash with Trump over music used in political messaging.
01:17Celine Dion, Bruce Springsteen, Linkin Park, Neil Young, and others have publicly criticized
01:24similar uses of their work.
01:26Last month, Olivia Rodrigo criticized the use of her song, All American Bee, in a White House
01:31and DHS video urging undocumented immigrants to self-deport, calling it racist, hateful propaganda.
01:38The video showed ICE detaining immigrants with a warning to leave via the CBP Home app.
01:44Her comment, later deleted, was reported by Rolling Stone.
01:48A DHS spokesperson responded at the time, telling the outlet, America is grateful all the time
01:54for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe.
01:57We suggest Ms. Rodrigo thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice.
02:01But maybe even more.
