00:00Thanksgiving is in the rear view, which means another month of holiday travel is barreling
00:05toward us. I've got two important things you need to know if you're planning to hit the roads or
00:09the airport this Christmas, this Hanukkah, this New Year's, this Festivus, whatever you celebrate.
00:15Let's start with the good news. For those loading up Cousin Eddie's RV and driving a Clark Griswold's,
00:21the average price for a gallon of gas nationwide has fallen below $3. It's the lowest price since
00:272021. As is almost always the case, West Coast drivers are a bit behind the curve and still have
00:34a higher than average gas price. What's behind the drop? Higher production from OPEC countries has
00:38driven down the price of crude, which trickles down through the system until it gets, well,
00:42into your gas tank. Now to the airports. Remember all those stories and reminders about getting your
00:49driver's license upgraded to a real ID earlier this year? I really hope you listened. The deadline was
00:56pushed several times over the last several years, but now TSA means business. Well, at least they
01:01will soon enough. Passengers who don't have a real ID will soon be charged $45 if they show up at
01:07checkpoints without acceptable ID. But don't fret just yet, though. You're not going to be Kevin
01:13McAllister and left home alone if you haven't gotten one by the holiday rush. You will still be able to get
01:18through for free for the holidays, but you're going to need to make this a New Year's resolution because
01:22they will start charging on February 1st.
