00:06with a call for peace among peoples and an end to the horrors of war.
00:11The Pope visited Lebanon for three days as part of the second leg of a foreign trip that began in Turkey.
00:18During this journey, Pope Leo XIV warned that the future of humanity is in danger
00:24due to the proliferation of conflicts in the world
00:27and called on the international community to spare no effort in promoting processes of dialogue and reconciliation.
00:35The Pope's last day in Lebanon began with prayer at the port of Beirut,
00:40the scene of two explosions in August 2020 that left more than 200 people dead
00:45and about 300,000 civilians homeless.
00:48The Pope also celebrated Mass on the capital's seafront where thousands of Lebanese received communion.
00:57Dear brothers and sisters,
01:04during these days of my first apostolic journey undertaken during this jubilee year,
01:12I wanted to come as a pilgrim of hope to the Middle East,
01:16imploring God for the gift of peace for this beloved land,
01:21marked by instability, wars, and suffering.
01:24And make a heartfelt appeal to those who hold political and social authority here and in all countries marked by war and violence.
01:36Listen to the cry of your peoples who are calling for peace.
