Oprah Winfrey has interviewed Mariah Carey many times over the years and they’re set to deliver another installment this week, now for Apple TV+ courtesy of Winfrey’s new streamer series, 'The Oprah Conversation. '

00:05Oprah Winfrey is sitting down with the one and only Mariah Carey

00:08for her new Apple TV Plus series, The Oprah Conversation.

00:11The episode, which debuts on Thursday,

00:13sees the pair join each other in a virtual format amid the COVID-19 pandemic

00:17for a deep dive into Carey's upcoming memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

00:21I didn't feel like I was worthy of existing.

00:24The police took you, Mariah Carey.

00:26In the backseat of the police car, it's a vivid memory.

00:29I have never spoken about it.

00:31In an exclusive clip obtained by The Hollywood Reporter,

00:33Winfrey first tells Carey that she believes the lamely,

00:36aka Carey's fans, are going to love the book

00:38for how it unravels the origins to so many songs.

00:41She also notes that in all the years and all the interviews she's done with Carey,

00:44Winfrey had never heard her tell a story from her childhood

00:46about a young girl named Maureen,

00:49who was among the first to recognize Carey's vocal gifts.

00:51The anecdote is one that opens the book.

00:53I just started singing and she literally stopped and stared at me and said,

00:57when you sing, it sounds like there's music with you.

01:00And it was a wonderful moment that I'll never forget.

01:03Winfrey then continued the story by reading directly from the book,

01:05where Carey writes,

01:06They say God speaks through people

01:08and I'll always be grateful for my little girlfriend speaking into my heart that day.

01:12I believed my voice could be music.

01:14All I needed was someone to see and hear me.

01:16I think of that as just such a truly life-affirming moment

01:20and it speaks to me how other people can be your angels and don't even know it.
