00:11We're getting the first trailer for Lionsgate's take on Judy Blume's beloved classic,
00:15Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret.
00:18Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, and Benny Safdie star alongside newcomer Abby Ryder Fortson
00:23in the big screen adaptation.
00:24In the two-minute look at the 1970s set film, Fortson plays 11-year-old Margaret,
00:30uprooted from her New York City home and moved to the New Jersey suburbs by her parents,
00:35played by McAdams and Safdie.
00:36The move means Margaret having to quickly make new friends at a new school,
00:40all the while going through the rapid changes of puberty.
00:43If you want to be in the club, then you have to wear a bra.

00:52Margaret's mom, Barbara, is going through an adjustment of her own in their new home
00:57with a mother who isn't happy her daughter moved away.

01:01I read that when you don't have any loved ones around,
01:04your life expectancy drops drastically, but you know, I've had a good run.
01:08Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter last year, McAdams noted that while she didn't have
01:12an attachment to the book when she was growing up,
01:14it was really nice to come to it later in life as a mom
01:17because I was playing the mother character and was viewing it through that lens.
01:21Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret is set to hit theaters on April 28th.
