00:07Chapel Roan is revealing that fans likely won't hear her second album for at least five years.
00:13She spoke to Vogue while on the set of her music video for her latest single, The Subway,
00:17where she said that her second project doesn't exist yet.
00:20Roan's critically acclaimed debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,
00:24was released in September of 2023 and earned six Grammy nominations, with Roan also taking home
00:30the Best New Artist award. Despite releasing The Subway, The Giver, and Good Luck Babe after her
00:35debut album's release, Roan said there is no album and no collection of songs. When it comes to a
00:41sophomore album, she says it took me five years to write the first one and it's probably going to
00:46take at least five to write the next. I'm not that type of writer that can pump it out. Roan went on
00:50to reveal that The Subway also took an annoying amount of time to get just right.
00:55I just wasn't ready to put it out yet. It was just too painful. I was just too angry and scared
00:59just about my life to put it out. Roan first debuted The Subway during her performance at
01:04Governor's Ball in New York City in June of 2024. However, she didn't release the song on
