Cam chats with THR on the red carpet for the 2025 Grammys and dishes on Beyoncé's album of the year nomination, saying it "feels unreal." Plus, she talks about working with Queen Bey and watching her perform 'Cowboy Carter' during the Christmas halftime show.
00:00It's a huge night for you with this Album of the Year nomination with Beyonce.
00:04Why do you think Beyonce deserves to win Album of the Year finally this year?
00:08I think she's always deserved it.
00:11She always, 11 out of 10, everything she does.
00:14And I think she's like, she tells us where the future of music is going.
00:19And sometimes I think it's hard for everybody to fully acknowledge it in the present.
00:24But I feel like people really understood it.
00:26I mean, I cried when I listened through this album for the first time.
00:29I'm so proud of it.
00:30I think she did the most fantastic job.
00:32I think I can't state it enough how perfect it is.
00:38So, yeah.
00:39What was the highlight of working on Cowboy Carter with her?
00:42Oh, my God.
00:42I mean, now this is pretty great.
00:45Yeah.
00:46When I got the call for this, I actually was like, had just given birth, had was in the pandemic.
00:52And I was like in my own, you know, working by myself in a studio and just had no more Fs to give about anything.
00:57I'm not making anything for anyone else's, you know, expectations anymore.
01:02I'm doing it myself.
01:03And right at that time was when I got hooked up with this whole project.
01:07And I feel like the energy fit, you know, this is art for art's sake.
01:12And I'm just, yeah, it feels unreal.
01:16Even you telling it to me right now, you're like, what's it like tonight?
01:19I'm like, how is this real?
01:20Yeah.
01:20She just announced she's going on the Cowboy Carter tour.
01:24Are we going?
01:25Obviously, we have to be there.
01:26We do.
01:27I have outfits to buy.
01:29I mean, you definitely have to be there.
01:30I will.
01:31Oh, I will.
01:32It was amazing seeing her sing those songs during the Beyonce Bowl for you.
01:36What was it like seeing this album brought to life on stage?
01:39My daughter, because Blue was there, right?
01:42And so I go, oh, my gosh, this is her daughter up there.
01:45And my daughter, Lucy, goes, I wish Beyonce was my mom.
01:49Wait a second.
01:51Me, me.
01:52No, we just, I think our jaws, we had to lift them off the floor after watching it.
01:56It's just exquisite.
01:59Her performance abilities, I don't think we can even fully appreciate how ahead of almost everyone she is, you know?
02:07For you, you've collaborated with so many amazing artists.
02:09But who's maybe a Grammy nominee or just anybody that you'd love to collaborate with next?
02:14Oh, you know, I love St. Vincent's.
02:17And I saw she's going to be performing, so I'm excited for that, yeah.
02:20And what else is coming up for you?
02:21What are you excited about with your own music career?
02:23So, like I was saying, the stuff that I started working on kind of around the same time as this, later this year or soon is what I'm supposed to be saying.
02:31I'm going to put that out.
02:32And I feel like having a kid, my brain literally changed.
02:36So, what I put into this upcoming record, I can't wait to share.
02:41And finally, it's music's biggest night.
02:44And music biopics are having a major moment right now with a complete unknown.
02:48Who's someone you'd love to see a music biopic about next?
02:52Oh.
02:52First off, I have to say, I watched that SNL performance.
02:55Unreal.
02:57Unreal.
02:57I love Bob Dylan.
02:58I was not ready to like that, and that was so good.
03:00I feel like they've done biopics about her, but I love Patsy Cline.
03:06I could watch biopics about Patsy Cline all day long.
