CBS' comedy 'Mom' will go into its eighth season without one of its two leads.

00:10Star Anna Faris is leaving the CBS comedy mom after seven years. This comes as a surprise move,
00:16but sources tell The Hollywood Reporter her departure is not due to COVID-19 concerns.
00:21Instead, she wanted to pursue other opportunities. Sources say her role as Christy won't be recast
00:26in her absence will be addressed in the show. It's not clear when Faris informed producers of
00:31her decision, but the writers weren't delayed as a result. Production on the show is slated to begin
00:35September 14th. CBS hasn't set a premiere date yet.
