Tracy Morgan has joined Eddie Murphy in 'Coming 2 America,' Paramount’s sequel to its popular 1988 comedy.

00:00Tracy Morgan is headed for the States.
00:03That's right, the comedian is joining forces with Eddie Murphy in Paramount's sequel to
00:07the 1988 comedy, Coming to America, titled Coming to America, but the two being the
00:12number two. The original film followed Murphy playing Prince Akeem, a spoiled prince
00:17from a fictional African nation who shows up in Queens, New York and goes undercover
00:21by getting a job at a McDonald's knock-off while trying to find a wife. The sequel is
00:25set to follow Akeem, now set to become king, discovering that he actually has a son
00:29he never knew about, a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Akeem sets out to
00:34honor his father's dying wish to groom his son to become the newly crowned prince.
00:38Thus, Akeem must once again return to America.
00:41Other stars set for the sequel include Wesley Snipes, Saturday Night Live's Leslie Jones
00:45and If Beale Street Could Talk star Kiki Layne. Layne is set to play Akeem's daughter.
00:50Meanwhile, Jones is on tap to play the baby mama, the result of a one-night stand with
00:54Akeem now raising their son. Morgan will play Jones' brother, a hustler named Reem.
00:58Returning cast members include Arsenio Hall as Akeem's right-hand man
01:02and James Earl Jones making his return as Akeem's father.
01:05Production will begin later this month with a sequel set for a December 18, 2020 release date.
