00:00Captain Strand. I believe you're aware of the tragedy that occurred in Austin.
00:05Liv Tyler is opting out of season two of Fox's 9-1-1 Lone Star. The actress, who had a multiple
00:11year deal for the Fox procedural, will not return to the drama amid issues related to the novel
00:16coronavirus pandemic. Tyler had previously commuted from London to Los Angeles, where the
00:20Austin set series is filmed. Co-creator and showrunner Tim Menear said in a statement,
00:25We loved working with Liv and will forever be indebted to her for her haunting, powerful
00:29portrayal of Michelle Blake. While we were able to tell a complete chapter in Michelle's story,
00:34as with Connie Britton, on our mothership, we also feel like there are more stories to tell.
00:39Tyler's role, as Menear noted, will not be recast, though producers did not plan for her exit.
00:44Instead, Tyler's absence will be replaced by new series regular Gina Torres. She'll star opposite
00:49Rob Lowe and will play a paramedic captain who re-enters the workplace after her family is
00:53impacted by financial issues stemming from the pandemic. As filming across the industry gets
00:58back underway after the studios and guilds reach new safety protocols for filming,
01:02Tyler may be the most high-profile actress to opt out of a series thus far.
01:07New episodes of 9-1-1 Lone Star are expected to debut in 2021.
