Transcript
00:00Having this experience has made me a better medium in the sense that I can relate to a lot of the struggles my clients go through.
00:06We're getting to know Tyler Henry like we've never known him before in his newest Netflix series.
00:11The 26-year-old medium to the stars is leaving Hollywood behind and hitting the road in Life After Death with Tyler Henry.
00:18Henry chatted with us to talk about his new series, which finds the medium focusing less on celebrity and more on everyday people
00:25as he tracks down his long list of clients from around the country, guiding them to sources of comfort.
00:30This new show, Life After Death, really focuses more on kind of pulling back the veil.
00:35I think people who are curious about the process will find it really interesting.
00:40But beyond that, even just the readings, I think these readings focus on people who are out there,
00:45who need a reading more than anything, and I think that's where that ability shines
00:50when it's met with a person who really has a genuine need.
00:53Henry says he first discovered his gift at just 10 years old
00:57when he says he had an overwhelming feeling of his grandmother's passing.
01:01Since then, he's been able to bring healing and closure between many of his clients and their lost loved ones,
01:07as seen here in an exclusive clip from the upcoming series.
01:10Okay.
01:12Show me.
01:13Yeah, like number one mom.
01:15It's just sweet.
01:16You know those things that kids make in like second grade, first grade?
01:19He showed me like this number one mom.
01:21It's really funny.
01:22So this was your son?
01:27I don't see dead people walking around.
01:29That would be terrifying.
01:30If anything, I just get impressions.
01:32And these impressions rely on my physical senses to come through.
01:36So sometimes I'll get a physical sensation that corresponds with how somebody might have died.
01:41Other times I'll get a message in my head that feels kind of akin to having like a song stuck in your head,
01:46is the best way to describe it.
01:47But there's also times where I'll get smells or even tastes.
01:51And so I have to take all of this stimulus, all of this intuitive information,
01:55interpret it in a way that makes sense,
01:56and then deliver it in a way that's very specific.
01:58Life After Death not only focuses on bringing healing to others,
02:02but the new Netflix series also pulls back the curtain on Henry's own backstory,
02:06giving a deeper look into his family history,
02:09specifically a shocking discovery about his mother and grandmother.
02:13So a few years ago, we made a shocking discovery that the people that I thought were my grandparents
02:18actually weren't, and that my mom was taken as a baby from her biological family.
02:24And only now in her 50s has she made this discovery.
02:27It's quite an incredible story of resilience.
02:29My mom's ability to go through that experience at such a young age
02:33and come out of it at an amazing mother to me is a testament to her strength.
02:37While piecing together the history of his own lineage,
02:40Henry has helped countless others, something he calls healing.
02:43I'm able to achieve what I always wanted to achieve,
02:46which was reading everyday people like myself and, you know,
02:49connect where there really is the most need.
02:51But despite leaving celebrity readings behind on his former hit E-series Hollywood medium,
02:57there were some that still left a special impact on him.
03:00Probably my experience with RuPaul was one of the most profound readings,
03:04just in part because that was somebody that I looked up to
03:06as I was young, living in a small town, you know, not out.
03:11It was very helpful to be able to meet that person
03:14who really inspired me to be myself
03:15and then to be able to help him, you know,
03:18find some closure with his own father who had passed away.
03:21It was really kind of a full circle moment.
03:23And as for what he hopes for his newest series,
03:25I hope that when people watch it, they see the vulnerability of the story.
03:29They see my mom's resilience,
03:30but I hope they also kind of see themselves in the story as well.
03:34Life After Death with Tyler Henry debuts on Netflix March 11th.
