The Hollywood Reporter went inside the 4th annual Patron of the Arts Artists Awards, which featured a mini-'Friends' reunion, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo and performances from Cynthia Erivo and Chrissy Metz.

00:00Jennifer Aniston is calling Lisa Kudrow and Courtney Cox friends who turned into family.

00:05The former co-stars shared a mini reunion at the fourth annual SAG-AFTR Foundation's

00:10Patron of the Artist Awards where Kudrow and Cox presented Aniston with one of the

00:14Artist's Inspiration Awards. The ceremony is an annual fundraiser that benefits the

00:18organization's emergency assistance and free educational programs for SAG-AFTR artists.

00:23The actress first spoke about her journey to earn her SAG card, revealing her big break

00:27came back in the day when she got cast as a waitress in a commercial for a restaurant

00:31chain, Bob's Big Boy. She called it the greatest day ever for her and considered herself

00:35quote, powerball lucky because just a few years later she landed a little show called Friends.

00:41Aniston, who was praised at the event by Cox and Kudrow for her philanthropic efforts for

00:45supporting causes like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Red Cross and cancer

00:50organizations, spoke about how the show landed her lifelong friendship saying,

00:57It was a very rare environment where there was truly no competition, no egos. We were just

01:02six relatively unknown actors learning on the job together and thanking our lucky stars to be

01:07on this rocket ship of a show. She went on to say,

01:09We went from friends to a family. That experience set the bar for the rest of my career and it

01:14taught me to surround myself with supportive people who make me better. Not only a better

01:18actor, but a better person. Elsewhere during the ceremony, Mark Ruffalo accepted the

01:22Other Artist Inspiration Award from good friend Leonardo DiCaprio. Greg Berlanti took home the

01:27Patron of the Artist Award following an introduction from Norman Lear. And Ava DuVernay

01:31accepted the same prize as Berlanti from pal David Oyelowo. Some of those who utilize the

01:36organization's services are struggling actors and in that spirit many of the honorees praise the

01:41bravery of artists for all they deliver despite the hardships of being in such an unstable industry.
