TRANS dad of three, Aaden, gave birth to twins at the age of just 19. Having only started his transition a year before, Aaden suddenly realised he wanted children - so, pausing his hormone treatment, he underwent IUI and soon found out he was expecting twins. Aaden welcomed Carter and Quinn (now four years old) into the world and raised them as a single dad, until he met partner, Claire, who became a mom to the twin sisters. The couple soon discussed having a child together and Aaden had put his transition on pause again - this time to give birth to a single baby daughter, Cove, who is now two months old. Although Aaden describes his family as a "typical family", he and Claire have raised the girls to understand that their dad is "special" for "having a baby in his belly" and regularly take them to local Pride events. As Aaden explained to Truly: "Pride is super important in our family. It's full of love and we want our kids to know that they are loved no matter what." But people on social media have not been so open minded. When Aaden shared videos during his pregnancies, he soon received a backlash - with many even accusing Aaden of "lying." As Aaden explained, "I've had comments saying that my pregnant belly was AI and that my baby was a reborn doll." But in response to all the negativity his family have received, Aaden has a defiant message for anyone who might be quick to judge: "I feel sorry for you because our family is very happy and very content and we all love each other very much. Anything you say or do couldn't take that away from us."

00:00I was a pregnant dad with twins at 19.
00:02What makes daddy special?
00:03Having a baby with us.
00:05I am 39 and 2.
00:07I recently gave birth to another baby girl and now I'm a trans dad to three kids.
00:12People accuse me of lying about my pregnancies.
00:14They couldn't believe I was a man carrying a child.
00:17I've had comments saying, it's so funny, I'm sorry,
00:20that my pregnant belly was AI and that my baby was a reborn doll.
00:25When I came out to my parents as transgender at 16, they were shocked.
00:28I think they were hoping it was a phase.
00:30I was angry.
00:31It didn't make sense.
00:31Surely you knew that something was going on.
00:42Can I have a plate, ma'am?
00:43No.
00:44Okay, thanks.
00:47My name is Aiden.
00:48I was assigned female at birth.
00:51I was pregnant at 19 with twins and I just gave birth to another baby.
00:56This is Quinn.
00:59This is Carter.
01:01We've got Claire, his mom, and we have baby Cove.
01:05She's having a good nap.
01:08I would describe my family as any typical family.
01:11We're just like everyone else.
01:12Who is this?
01:15She's your baby what?
01:17You're a great big sister, aren't you?
01:19Yeah.
01:19Quinn's kind of shy.
01:22Carter is very outgoing.
01:23She's Miss Personality.
01:26And Cove is just the perfect balance between the two of them.
01:30She's a very easy baby.
01:32Say good morning.
01:35Before my transition, I just felt very lost.
01:38Growing up, we didn't really talk about gender.
01:41It wasn't something that we ever discussed in our family.
01:43But when I found out you could be transgender, I felt like I fit in that box.
01:48How old were you when you first came out to your parents?
01:50I was 16.
01:51The initial reaction was not good.
01:54Just wasn't having it.
01:54I was 18 when I first started hormone treatment.
01:56They were not on board with that at all.
01:58And I think that made it like real for them.
02:00You know, I think they were hoping it was a phase.
02:03I realized I wanted to have children early on.
02:08I got pregnant with the twins doing IUI, which stands for interuterine insemination.
02:12I didn't know I was having two babies.
02:14It was very scary and overwhelming at first because I was young.
02:18And I could barely keep myself alive.
02:20And then I was suddenly responsible for not one, but two babies.
02:24Do you like to go to Pride, girls?
02:25Yes, go again.
02:27Yes, go again.
02:29Pride is super important in our family.
02:31It's full of love.
02:32And we want our kids to know that they're loved no matter what.
02:36What makes Daddy special?
02:37Having a baby in the belly.
02:39All the daddies can have babies, but they can't because it's only special.
02:44Yes, that's true.
02:45Were you in Daddy's belly or were you in Mommy's belly?
02:50Yeah.
02:52We don't really believe in gender-specific toys.
02:55We kind of just let them gravitate towards whatever their interests are in.
02:58Did he get burned in battle?
03:00Yeah, we lost his sword.
03:02He lost his sword?
03:03Oh, yeah.
03:04Even with clothes.
03:05Like Quinn.
03:06Quinn has boxers.
03:07Quinn literally has boxers.
03:09Oh, he's going to have a big load.
03:11Uh-oh.
03:11It's too heavy.
03:12Oh!
03:13My turn.
03:18I met Claire.
03:18We were working at Starbucks together.
03:20We kind of just became friends at first, and our relationship just took off from there.
03:26Okay, come on.
03:27We're going to pick out Coven outfit.
03:28How did the twins react to her joining the family?
03:30The twins reacted really well to Claire.
03:32I was very open and honest from the beginning about wanting to have another baby.
03:35When we got closer to the two-year mark, we decided to, like, discuss what it would take
03:39and how adding another baby would fit into our family.
03:42The twins were about to turn four, and we decided, let's just go ahead and do it.
03:46You like that one?
03:47Okay, that's a good choice.
03:48What do you like, Quinnie?
03:50This.
03:52I think it's a little bit too cold for that one, but it is very pretty.
03:56When you became pregnant with Coven, how did you explain your pregnancy to the twins?
04:00They just reacted completely normal.
04:02They just think that daddy is daddy and daddy can have babies.
04:06Does it make you happy?
04:07Do you love baby Tissy?
04:08Yeah.
04:09Yeah.
04:09They were super excited.
04:10They were, like, screaming, you have a baby in your belly.
04:12Like, it was great.
04:13It was awesome.
04:14Can you tell me some of your favorite things about being a big sister?
04:17I like to play with her and dress her up.
04:20I like changing your diaper.
04:25Seeing my body become more feminine during the pregnancy was really hard.
04:28This time, when I had the baby, I had already had my breasts removed,
04:33so that in and of itself was easier, but I lost my whole beard.
04:37It still is not grown back.
04:39Even though I opted into having a pregnancy, you know, I still feel how I feel as a person,
04:44and watching that version of myself fade away was really hard.
04:48I originally started posting online about being trans and pregnant when I had the twins.
04:54I just woke up.
04:55I am five days post C-section.
04:59The postpartum, like, hormone drop.
05:01It hit me pretty hard.
05:02The reactions, you know, there was a few good ones.
05:06We're going to the pool.
05:07But 90, 95% of them were bad.
05:09I mean, people were saying horrible, awful things.
05:12This is an adjustment period, okay?
05:13And I'm trying my best out here.
05:15At first, it was so upsetting.
05:19Now it's, like, funny to me that people go out of their way to be unkind and nasty to me,
05:23because I'm just a typical dad.
05:26Someone said, who's going to be your kid's dad?
05:28Obviously, we're in a typical situation.
05:32So, you know, he is the dad, and I'm the mom.
05:35Someone said, confused generation.
05:38When I met Aiden, he was 100% sure this is what he wanted to do.
05:41He wanted to have a family.
05:42I'm anything but confused.
05:44The most commented thing on every single video was that poor baby or those poor kids.
05:49And it is the farthest thing from the truth.
05:53Our family is just a little different.
05:55But, you know, we still do all the normal things.
05:57Our kids are loved and great, and they have great lives.
06:01Positive feedback, people online commenting,
06:04this is all they needed to see to let them know that this was possible.
06:07I wish I had a dad like you.
06:09That's what I'm talking about.
06:10I mean, that's the ultimate goal.
06:12That's the highest compliment you can get as a parent.
06:16My mom's coming over to visit today,
06:18and we're going to discuss how my transition made her feel and our relationship today.
06:23Hi, baby.
06:23Hi.
06:24It was, I was very upset when you told me you wanted to transition.
06:31I was angry.
06:32I didn't understand it.
06:33I thought it was made up.
06:34And in my mind, I had a vision for your life.
06:38No way did you become a transgender.
06:40Did that ever fit into my vision?
06:44It was challenging to me.
06:45Yeah.
06:45I was afraid for you.
06:46It all makes sense.
06:47Yeah, especially now that I'm a parent, I understand.
06:50When it comes down to like, this is my child.
06:53And then I realized, oh, you're the same person you've always been.
06:59You know?
07:00And I could see that you were happy.
07:03And I never want anything more than for my child to be happy.
07:06I deeply regret the way I reacted.
07:09How did you feel when I told you I was a pregnant dad at 19?
07:13Honestly, I was pumped.
07:14I was so excited.
07:17Your life is beautiful.
07:18It's turned out better than I ever could have imagined.
07:21I think you are a wonderful father.
07:24And I also think that these girls have a really good life.
07:28And that's because of you and Claire.
07:30But I'm so proud of you.
07:32I love you, mama.
07:33I love you too, baby.
07:42I'm going to show her why.
07:43Is there anything that you'd like to say to other trans dads out there?
07:47To other trans dads, we are a team.
07:49And I feel like it's important for us to stick together and be a united front.
07:53And show people that we're going to continue to be ourselves no matter what.
07:56A message I have for people who still choose to judge me is I feel sorry for you.
08:03Because our family is very happy and very content.
08:06And we all love each other very much.
08:08And anything you say or do couldn't take that away from us.
08:12I'm very excited to see what the future holds for our family.
08:15And we're always going to be proud of our kids no matter what.
08:18Yeah, they have the freedom to be who they want to be.
08:20And we'll always be there for them.
