Daniel Wales reports from the Stadium of Light as Sunderland came back from two goals down to beat Bournemouth 3-2, with a winning goal from Brian Brobbey, on what was an extremely wet day on Wearside. Head Coach Régis Le Bris made clear that the adverse conditions slightly advantaged the Black Cats over the course of the match.

00:00Sunderland were singing in the rain at the Stadium of Light
00:05after Brian Brobby headed home from a corner
00:07to give the Black Cats a huge 3-2 win over Bournemouth
00:10with Sunderland having been 2-0 down early in the first half.
00:14The visitors were clinical in the opening period
00:17with their first goal coming on the counter-attack
00:19and their second, a lobbed effort from Tyler Adams
00:22from the edge of the centre circle showing their individual quality.
00:26Back came Sunderland though, a penalty from Enzo Le Fay
00:29giving them a foothold before Bertrand Traore
00:32and then Brobby flipped the game on its head.
00:35Was this Sunderland's most impressive win of the season?
00:38Well, Regis Labrice wasn't sure, but he admitted with a grin
00:41that the weather did help his side.
00:46I don't know. I think we had good results and good performances before.
00:53This one is different and I think the weather was perfect for us.
00:59The crowd was really hot and the conditions were good for Sunderland.
01:04And we need this resilience, we need this character and keep going.
01:10I think when you are winning 2-0 and you go back home with zero points,
01:16it's hard. It's hard. We knew that it was going to be a difficult game.
01:21And especially, I think, lately it's costing us a lot the defensive set plays.
01:27We've considered two set plays, we've considered the penalty.
01:29And we knew, you know, it was one of their strengths.
01:34A hugely frustrating day for Bournemouth
01:36after they had done so well to establish a solid lead in the match.
01:41Sunderland will not care though.
01:43They're up to fourth in the Premier League
01:45and over halfway to their target of 40 points
01:48to make certain of their survival in the top flight.
01:50The Black Cats also remain unbeaten at home in the league,
01:54a record they will not want to give up easily.
01:56Of course though, their next home outing
01:58sees them welcome Newcastle United to Wearside,
02:02which will be quite the occasion.
02:05Before that though, La Brice's side faced two tough away trips.
02:08First, at Anfield against Liverpool.
02:11Before then, Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola.
02:14First, at Anfield against Liverpool.
