00:00He goes and gets a cup of tea, comes back to bed with his favorite book. He says,
00:03I don't read the paper, it makes me angry. I don't read emails that distresses me. I don't
00:07read a script, I get nervous. I just read a book like a novel.
00:10Hugh Jackman is crediting his X-Men co-stars for giving him the best piece of advice for
00:15both acting and life. The actor dropped by The Late Show on Thursday to talk about his
00:19upcoming projects. And while chatting with host Stephen Colbert, Jackman brought up his
00:23grateful experience working with his X-Men co-stars Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen,
00:27with 2000's X-Men being Jackman's first major film role.
00:31You've called them your De Niro and your Pacino. What have you learned from them by sharing the
00:37screen? McKellen, he recalled, gave him the best advice for acting on film versus the theater.
00:42It's going to feel really uncomfortable. When you feel acting on film feels uncomfortable,
00:47but it'll look great. Just go with it. The actor said that as for Stewart,
00:50he passed on the best piece of advice for life itself, which was to give himself time before
00:55the start of each day. Noting, so if he has a 5 a.m. wake-up call for a film,
00:59he wakes up at 4 a.m. He goes and gets a cup of tea. He comes back to bed with his favorite book.
01:04Jackman added that Stewart's philosophy was to know that no matter what happens for the rest of the
01:08day, I've had a half hour. And said that it's something he and his wife still follow to this day.
01:14And so I've done that. My wife and I wake up every morning and we just go and get a cup of tea,
01:19coffee for me, and we sit in bed and we just read.
01:23Elsewhere, the actor also discussed his new film, Reminiscence, and his upcoming highly
01:27anticipated Broadway production of The Music Man. To watch the full clip, head to the article on
