U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Ukraine’s chief negotiator Rustem Umerov revealed fresh momentum in high-stakes talks aimed at ending the war and securing Ukraine’s long-term safety. Rubio said the goal is not only to stop the fighting but to create a “forever safe” Ukraine that can never be invaded again, highlighting ongoing contacts with Moscow and progress made since the Geneva round. Umerov praised strong U.S. support and said both sides are working on a plan to rebuild Ukraine stronger and more prosperous than before. Both leaders described the latest session as productive, delicate, and part of a broader framework designed to reshape Ukraine’s future.

00:00All right, and I apologize because I'm pressed for time.
00:27I think we both are, but I just wanted to update you.
00:30We had another very productive session building off Geneva, building off the events of this week.
00:33As I told you earlier this morning, our goal here is to end the war, but it's more than just to end the war.
00:39We don't just want to end the war.
00:40We also want to help Ukraine be safe forever, so never again will they face another invasion.
00:46And equally importantly, we want them to enter an age of true prosperity.
00:50We want the Ukrainian people to emerge from this war, not just to rebuild their country,
00:54but to build it back in a way that will be stronger and more prosperous than it's ever been.
00:58And so this is comprehensive, what we're working on here today.
01:00It's not just about the terms that ends fighting.
01:02It's about also the terms that set up Ukraine for long-term prosperity.
01:06I thought we started laying the groundwork for that, most certainly in Geneva.
01:10I think we continued that work in our communications throughout the week.
01:13I think we built on that again today, but there's more work to be done.
01:16This is delicate. It's complicated.
01:17There are a lot of moving parts, and obviously there's another party involved here
01:20that they'll have to be a part of the equation, and that'll continue later this week
01:25when Mr. Woodcoff travels to Moscow, although we've also been in touch in varying degrees
01:31with the Russian side.
01:32But we have a pretty good understanding of their views as well.
01:34So much work remains, but today was again a very productive and useful session
01:39where I think additional progress was made.
01:41We continue to be realistic about how difficult this is, but optimistic,
01:45particularly given the fact that as we've made progress,
01:48I think there is a shared vision here that this is not just about ending the war,
01:52which is very important.
01:53It is about securing Ukraine's future, a future that we hope will be more prosperous
01:57than it's ever been.
01:58Yeah.
02:00Once again, we are grateful to American people, American leadership,
02:04and a great team with State Secretary Steve Witkow, Jared Kushner for their tremendous work with us.
02:13Our objective is a prosperous, strong Ukraine.
02:17We were discussing about the future of Ukraine.
02:19We discussed all the important matters that are important for Ukraine,
02:26for Ukrainian people, and the U.S. was super supportive.
02:30We worked.
02:31We already had a successful meeting in Geneva,
02:33and today we continue this success.
02:36So at the moment, this meeting was productive and successful.
02:41On the later stages, hopefully, we will keep you updated.
02:45Thank you very much, guys.
02:47Mr. Secretary, are you planning to brief your European...
02:55Thank you, guys.
02:56We can go back the way we came.
02:58We can turn around and...
