The preliminary results from the National Electoral Council (CNE) of the general elections in Honduras show an advantage for right-wing candidate Nasry Asfura of the National Party, after counting 34.25 percent of the votes. According to CNE president Ana Paola Hall, Asfura leads with 530,073 votes, followed by Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party with 506,316 votes, and Rixi Moncada of the ruling Liberty and Refoundation (Libre) Party with 255,972 votes. The Libre Party denounced irregularities in the process, with President Xiomara Castro and candidate Moncada warning of hacking attempts against the preliminary results transmission system (TREP). The elections were also marked by foreign intervention, after U.S. President Donald Trump publicly endorsed Asfura days before the vote.
