00:10Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she and Will Smith have been separated for nearly seven years.

00:15The actress discussed the topic in an interview with The Today Show and makes the revelation in her new memoir, Worthy,

00:21noting that the pair aren't technically divorced but have been living completely separate lives since 2016.

00:27Smith and Pinkett Smith were married in 1997 and have two children, Jaden and Willow.

00:33As for why the pair didn't share this news sooner, such as during her entanglement or amid the infamous 2022 Oscar slap,

00:40Pinkett Smith says they weren't ready yet.

00:49And in regards to how do we present that to people?

00:55And as for what happened to cause the relationship to fracture, she noted a lot of things.

01:01I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying.

01:06Pinkett Smith also spoke to People magazine about her relationship with Smith in a cover story out Wednesday,

01:12saying that the couple are still figuring it out amid the separation.

01:15We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.
