Shawn Levy is teasing that there's a moment in 'Deadpool 3' that's inspired by 'Star Wars'. 00:20The tease comes from a new essay for Esquire,

00:22in which Levy addresses the state of moviegoing

00:24and emphasizes his belief in the future of the theatrical release.

00:27He begins the essay recalling a memory of seeing 1983's Return of the Jedi in the theater,

00:32and this scene that elicited a pin-drop silence from the audience.

00:45Levy goes on to weave his experience seeing this film into a larger commentary

00:49about the power of blockbusters and their ability to bring people together.

00:53At the end of the essay, Levy revealed how Deadpool 3 will pay tribute to that scene.

01:01Guys, this is the Jedi moment.

01:03I pulled up that scene of Vader and Luke on my phone

01:05and restudied how it was photographed, how it was blocked, the framing, the tempo.

01:10The keen Star Wars fan will see the shot in my Deadpool movie

01:13that was inspired by a moment that I saw in a theater decades ago.

01:17That's a forever memory.

01:18And that's a treasure.
