The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has denied claims it confiscated businessman Albert Tei’s belongings without his knowledge.

The commission said a seizure list was handed to Tei on the day of his arrest and that he personally signed the document.

00:13The commission said a seizure list was handed to Tay on the day of his arrest and that he
00:18personally signed the document. MACC added that several items, including mobile phones,
00:25an iPad and a digital video recorder were seized as evidence. The Strategic Communications Division
00:32said the items were voluntarily handed over by Tay and that a copy of the movable property
00:37seizure list under Section 33 of the M.A.C.C. Act 2009 was provided last Friday. The commission
00:44stressed that it carries out its duties in accordance with the law and within its authorized powers.
00:50This comes after Tay's wife Li Pei Ri said the M.A.C.C. illegally confiscated his possessions.
00:57They demanded a complete inventory within three days by Wednesday.
