During a meeting with lawmakers about a proposed bipartisan deal on immigration, President Trump reportedly questioned why the U.S. would want to admit more people from "s---hole countries."

00:00I don't know how to break this to you, but I think the president might be racist.
00:05On Thursday, late-night hosts blasted President Donald Trump for comments he made earlier that day.
00:11During a meeting with lawmakers about a proposed bipartisan deal on immigration,
00:15the president reportedly questioned why the U.S. would want to admit more people from, quote,
00:20shithole countries. The deal would specifically change rules affecting immigrants from Africa and Haiti.
00:25On Comedy Central, The Daily Show's Trevor Noah, a native of South Africa, said he was offended by the remarks.
00:31You know what? Personally, as someone from South shithole, I'm offended, Mr. President.
00:36Noah went on to explain what made the incident even more offensive.
00:40Not only does he think brown countries are shitholes, he thinks, what, we're never gonna know what he said?
00:46Over on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host expressed surprise that the White House did not deny the president's remarks.
00:53They just tried to spin it. It really is unfathomable. You just can't believe that this is the guy running our country.
01:01Kimmel also joked that the only silver lining in the situation is getting to hear CNN's Wolf Blitzer say
01:07S-hole all day to avoid the censors.
01:10S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole, S-hole.
01:16Meanwhile on CBS, the Late Show's Stephen Colbert got right to the point in his opening monologue.
01:22They're not s-hole countries. For one, Donald Trump isn't their president.
01:27Referencing reports that Trump suggested the government should try and get more immigrants from countries such as Norway instead,
01:33Colbert joked, in character as Trump,
01:36You catch my drift? People with blonde hair who need a lot of sunscreen.
01:40You get what I'm saying? I'm saying I'm a racist. Are you getting that part?
01:44Over on NBC's Late Night, the president's comments inspired host Seth Meyers to create a new segment titled
01:50Seth has to walk away for a minute. And yes, it went down exactly the way you're picturing it.
01:55I don't know. It's just...
01:57Meyers referenced Trump's remarks again during his A Closer Look segment.
02:05Maybe he meant it as a compliment. After all, Trump does all his best tweets when he's sitting on the s-hole.
02:11The host ended the bit by saying the national mood can be summed up with three words.
02:15Please kill me. In response to the backlash, Trump took to Twitter, of course.
02:20On Friday, he posted that he didn't say s-hole countries, later adding that he also
02:25never said anything derogatory about Haitians. In addition, he blamed the Democrats.
02:30What do you think about Late Night's take on all of this? Let us know in the comments.
02:34Until next time, for The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Jordyn Rolling.
