Reporter Asks Tom Homan Whether The U.S. Will Hit 'Net-Negative Immigration This Year'

During a press gaggle on Thursday, Border Czar Tom Homan was asked about President Trump's deportation agenda.

00:22Can you confirm which states may be working with you on more detention centers?

00:26I won't confirm the states until we have an agreement.

00:28But I applaud the states who are stepping up because this illegal immigration issue is a state problem, too.

00:33And millions of people are released by the Biden administration in the states.

00:36So I'm glad the states are stepping up and helping.

00:38The vice president said that he hopes that you'll reach net negative immigration this year.

00:43Do you think that's possible? And when do you think that will happen?

00:46I hope so, too. But how quick can we bring the resources on?

00:49We just got a big, beautiful bill, which is going to put more boots on the ground.

00:52It's going to fund more detention beds.

00:53It's how quick we can bring people out and get them on the street to make the arrest.

00:57So, you know, great goal.

01:00But I'd be, you know, I'd be foolish to give you a number because I don't know.

01:04There's too many factors.

01:05How many people can get on the streets?

01:06How quick can we bring more agents on the street?

01:08How quick can we bring contractors in that can do a job that don't require badging guns

01:13so that badging gun can get on the street?

01:14So there's too many variables.

01:16But our goal is to arrest everybody we can, you know, prioritizing criminal safety threats

01:20and national security threats.

01:21But I'll say it again.

01:23In sanctuary cities, where our priority is now, you force us in the community to arrest

01:27a bad guy, find a bad guy.

01:29If he's with others in the country illegally, they're coming, too.

01:32How long are you going to have a home to do?

01:50How long are you going to have a coping right now?

01:50How long are you feeling getting the security right now?

01:56So friends, how long are you going to be chasing a bad guy?
