00:00The weekend's judo came to a climactic conclusion in Abu Dhabi, as the mainstay Grand Slam event
00:05saw the heavyweights take the stage. In the under 90kg, double Olympic champion Lasha Bakaori was
00:11back, and once again looking almost impossible for anyone in the category to handle. His unique
00:17judo ability saw him defeat promising Moldovan youngster Laticev in the final, and once again
00:23stand atop a podium.
00:30Mr. Nasser Altamimi, IJF General Treasurer, awarded the medals.
00:40I've never been here, and it was so hard competition, and the guys were so strong.
00:53It was a rematch of this year's world final at minus 78kg, but Anna Montaulek this time
00:59overcame current world and Olympic champion Alice Bellandi in groundwork, solidifying her
01:04claim as one of the category's best. Dr. Lisa Allen, IJF Secretary General, awarded her the gold medal.
01:13I think the tournament is great. The atmosphere is good, and also like everything around it,
01:21like from the hotel to the way here. I feel quite comfortable here. Won my first Grand Slam medal,
01:28my first gold Grand Slam, and now I could repeat it again, so good tatami for me.
01:33In the under 100kg final, former world champion Armin Adamian went down a score early against his
01:39teammate Bifov. But the powerhouse judoka showed his class to come back with not one,
01:47but two scores and take his first gold medal in two years.
01:57A welcome return to form for one of the category's biggest throwers.
02:01IJF President Mr. Marius Vizzer awarded him his long-awaited gold medal.
02:09At plus 78kg, Miki Mukonoki executed a textbook uchimata to overcome a significant size difference
02:16against China's Xinran Yu. A beautiful throw showcasing perfect judo principles.
02:24The medals were awarded by CBH Bank CEO Mr. Simon Benhamu.
02:28At plus 100kg, Gonchik Shiren Batkoyak took on world and Olympic medalist Tamerlan Bashaev.
02:36Batkoyak held onto a Yuko lead to take the last gold medal of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2025.
