00:00Homes are destroyed and hundreds are dead or missing after floods raged across Southeast
00:05Asia, hitting Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
00:10On the Indonesian island of Sumatra, nearly 80,000 people were evacuated, according to
00:15the country's disaster management agency.
00:18Families are returning to find everything destroyed.
00:22This was my home.
00:25I have nine of my family members here.
00:28We have nothing left.
00:30Everything was gone.
00:32We only have the clothes on our backs.
00:35We couldn't bring anything else.
00:41In Thailand, conditions are similarly dire.
00:45The government has announced it will compensate up to $62,000 for households that have lost
00:49family members in the flood.
00:51In Sri Lanka, hit by Cyclone Ditwa, a state of emergency was declared by the government,
00:56which has made pleas for international aid.
01:03It rained nonstop for three days.
01:06We heard about the warnings of flooding, but we didn't expect water levels would get this
01:11high.
01:12As usual, we moved our belongings that could be moved to a higher level.
01:16But that didn't help.
01:17Everything is underwater.
01:22According to authorities, a third of Sri Lanka's population is still without electricity and
01:26running water.
01:28The cyclone, the country's worst natural disaster since 2017, is heading to neighbouring India
01:33next.
01:34The storm was canceled.
01:44So we don't take action.
01:45There were no other birds, but the birds were going to be killed by the storm, which was
01:50in fact, with the flood and the sea.
01:52And that seems like the fact that the storm, which was particularly late in the ocean, has
01:55been burned by the storm.
01:56And that's the source of water.
01:58What was the means?
01:59The storm is coming over, it's coming over.
