01:00The extreme weather system also sank a tanker off the coast.

01:03Schools were closed for two consecutive days, as were offices and financial markets.

01:08Authorities have urged residents to stay at home.

01:12While Typhoon Gaiming first made landfall in Taiwan, its extreme weather caused damages

01:17and killed dozens in the Philippines.

01:19Now that it's made landfall, the storm is expected to lose some intensity as it travels

01:24north across mainland China.
