00:00Chef Michael van der Elzen and restaurateur Ganesh Raj are here to
00:04challenge our biggest spenders. You ready? Oh Jesus. Transforming kitchens and boosting
00:13nutrition. I got some spice. I didn't put any in there. All to save our hard-earned
00:18cash. Two trolleys. Come on people. We get revealing expert help. It's actually a
00:23myth that sugar is linked to hyperactivity. How can you just say that with a straight face?
00:27And even let you guys in on the act. Nothing to really blow your socks off. I don't mind that at all.
00:32It's time we all learned to eat well for less. Where do we start? We'll show you. Time to meet
00:37a family who are spending a small fortune on food. Two trolleys. And takeaways. He thinks I'm a
00:43compulsive spender. Mum likes a packed pantry but could all these treats and waste be a serious case
00:51of too much of a bad thing?
00:57We're here in the South Auckland suburb of Karaka to help out a family of five.
01:07We're the Advertons. We're the Advertons. I'm Jess and this is Simon and we're a blended family.
01:13Together we've got six children but living with us we've got three. We've got Noah who's 10,
01:19Melia who's three and then Bo who's nearly seven months. We're quite a busy family in and out of the house quite a lot.
01:28What do you want buddy? I feel we get takeaways quite a lot. The pink donut? Yeah. But it's generally I think for more convenience so if we've got something like dancing or
01:38soccer training or something like that we tend to sort of stop before we get home and
01:42then that's just like a quick easy dinner. Good girl. We could have less takeaways or not buy as much junk food.
01:50I think we get a lot more than she actually realises. So I'll buy it for the kids. Hey kids.
01:55Hello. So when I pick them up from school or daycare I'll get them treats before we get home. So she probably doesn't realise how much we get takeaways.
02:05When I was pregnant it was a lot easier because we had one less and now that we've had Bo I think we're eating a lot more takeaways which is a lot of money too.
02:13Unplanned takeaways often mean ingredients for meals that didn't happen go off.
02:18So if we're supposed to have butter chicken we end up having you know McDonald's or Peter Pit or something like that and then it just moves to the next night and then sometimes we might not get it and then unfortunately we have to end up throwing it out.
02:29Generally we can fill our rubbish bin in the kitchen every day. I don't like feeling we haven't got anything in the house.
02:40So for me to think that a pantry is full it actually has to be like really full to the brim almost like popping out the doors I guess.
02:47I'll go in and I'll say okay well I don't have any pasta but I might have three bags sitting at the back but it's because they're so well hidden.
02:54So then I'll go and buy another two packs of pasta and they've got actually end up with five.
02:59So we don't have a budget for our shopping. We just go and spend whatever we like.
03:02Yeah.
03:03I mean if it's $400, $500, $600.
03:06There's been times where we go to the supermarket to get bread or milk.
03:10She comes out with a trolley full of groceries with no bread or milk.
03:13So.
03:15If we could do something about our spending since we know it's actually a problem.
03:21He thinks I'm a compulsive.
03:23Spender.
03:24Spender.
03:25Then maybe we can actually get to our goals a lot faster.
03:27And this family are saving for a wedding so let's get to it.
03:30Starting with the weekly shop.
03:32Hold on, is that two trolleys?
03:34Oh yes.
03:35Two of New Zealand's most successful food entrepreneurs.
03:37Chef Michael van der Elzen and restaurateur Ganesh Raj are on surveillance duties.
03:41Alright.
03:42Okay here they come.
03:43They're coming in.
03:44Yep.
03:45They're in.
03:46Is there anything you want to get today?
03:47Like anything specific?
03:49Two trolleys.
03:50Two trolleys straight away.
03:51Two trolleys straight away.
03:52There you go.
03:53We know it's going to be a big one.
03:54Okay.
03:55I'll get two broccolis and do I need potatoes?
03:58There's a little bit of broccoli there.
03:59A little bit.
04:00A couple of potatoes.
04:01A couple of potatoes.
04:02That's good.
04:03That's good.
04:04Some treaties for the kids.
04:05So I normally get one of those.
04:07So we've got some trees for the kids.
04:09They've got some lamingtons in there.
04:11We went through that veggie section pretty quick.
04:13We did.
04:14Let's get the champagne hand.
04:15I don't like this brand.
04:16I want to get the beehive brand.
04:17Yeah.
04:18What's that?
04:19Beehive.
04:20Beehive.
04:21She likes her brands.
04:22She does.
04:23Look at the look he's giving her.
04:24Jelly Famili.
04:25Jelly Famili.
04:26So should I get her the glitter one?
04:27Because she loves the glitter jelly.
04:28This family love their sugary treats.
04:31Just getting on with some salad.
04:32They're buying snacks for the kids, but not one for both.
04:35No.
04:36Everyone's getting a separate snack.
04:38This is a kid's dream right here.
04:40Isn't it?
04:41So can you just grab my Makona?
04:44Alright.
04:45Straight in for some coffee.
04:46Makona.
04:47That is quite expensive.
04:48Brands.
04:49Brands coming out again.
04:50What about your Infuse?
04:51No.
04:52I've got three of those in the cupboard already.
04:54Hang on a second.
04:55What are they picking out?
04:56I'd say a tea.
04:57Infusion tea.
04:58Oh, but they've got a new flavour.
05:00Get me my...
05:01That one?
05:02Yeah.
05:03Because I've tried all the other ones, and I've got the other one.
05:05Yeah, I'll grab that one.
05:06Cool, thanks.
05:07She's already got three at home.
05:08Yeah.
05:09But this is a new flavour.
05:10She's a marketer's dream.
05:11Isn't it?
05:13So, next one we need cereals.
05:15I've got the Wheat Bix.
05:16Do you want anything in particular?
05:17I don't know what's in the cupboard.
05:19So remind me, how many days is this shop for?
05:21This is just for one week.
05:23And she might do a top up.
05:25She might do a top up off the back of this.
05:27I think, what else?
05:28We don't need...
05:29I think I've got all the veggies and stuff, and I've got...
05:33Well, because we've got a bargain box this week anyway, so...
05:37Really?
05:38Then what's the point of buying all this stuff if you've got a bargain box coming?
05:41It gets delivered to you.
05:43Seven nights of food, and yet this...
05:45So this is just snacks.
05:47I'll grab trumpets.
05:48You want to grab the trumpets?
05:49We'll just grab...
05:50Noah likes mint.
05:51Grab the mint flavour.
05:53Mealy's got...
05:54Oh, double chocolate.
05:57Oh, surprise, surprise, another treat.
06:00In they go.
06:01Look, we just need to go and sort these guys out.
06:03Shall we go?
06:04Yeah.
06:05Let's do it.
06:06Intervention time.
06:07Okay, have we got everything?
06:08I think so.
06:09I hope so.
06:10I hope so.
06:11Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho.
06:13How are you?
06:14Ganesh.
06:15Hi.
06:16I'm Jess.
06:17Hi, I'm Michael.
06:18Pleasure.
06:19Hi, Jess.
06:20Nice to meet you.
06:21How are you, Simon?
06:22Are you well?
06:23Look at this.
06:24Oh, team.
06:25Those are some big trolleys.
06:26Yeah.
06:27They needed a stop sign to see these trolleys coming in.
06:28These are our normal trolleys.
06:29Wow.
06:30These are normal.
06:31Normal for a couple of weeks.
06:32Let's find out how much this costs, eh?
06:35All right.
06:36Right, so let's do this.
06:37Release it.
06:38Release the beast.
06:39Release the beast.
06:40Release the beast.
06:41Release the beast, Michael.
06:42Do you like that?
06:43There you go.
06:44Oh, oh, oh.
06:45Sea Lord.
06:46Delmaine mint sauce.
06:48So Sea Lord's something you always go to?
06:50I wonder how much that is.
06:51Yes, that's me.
06:52Have you tried the supermarket-owned brand?
06:53I'm too scared.
06:54There's a lot of food here.
06:55Do we have a list?
06:56No.
06:57Where's our list?
06:58On the fridge at home.
06:59It's up here.
07:00Wow.
07:01Good place for it to be.
07:02Yeah.
07:03And then here we have a little dancing selection of St. Remo products.
07:06Look at this.
07:07It's like a beautiful display.
07:09Nice quick lunch.
07:10Guilty.
07:11So this is a lunch that you take to work.
07:13To work?
07:14Or Amelia will have like the macaroni for dinner.
07:17So you've never made a batch and then gone, that's for the next two days?
07:20No.
07:21No, not really.
07:22Oh.
07:2318 snack packs.
07:24Look at this.
07:25Let me just talk about the snacking-
07:26Let's take a moment.
07:27Scenario here.
07:28They have these every day.
07:30Yeah, pretty much.
07:31Or is this a treat?
07:32No.
07:33Treats are every day.
07:34Every day?
07:35Treats are every day.
07:36I've never heard that one.
07:37That's new for me.
07:39Party pack.
07:40That's his.
07:41Just one night at home.
07:42So one night, all of these?
07:43So that's two nights worth.
07:44That is a serious amount of sugar for one night.
07:47What is it?
07:48Take it out of the packet.
07:49Take it out of the packet.
07:50It's got no branding on it.
07:51Take it out of the packet.
07:52Is that-
07:53Is that a broccoli?
07:56Alright.
07:57The most sugary drink on the market.
08:00On the planet.
08:01Tell the truth.
08:02The kids have it every day, don't they?
08:04Yes, they do.
08:05They have it every day.
08:07Okay, so, just to be very clear, this is one week's shop.
08:11Yeah.
08:12Plus more to come.
08:13Yeah.
08:14Plus more to come.
08:15Plus our food box.
08:16So, what do you think you've spent at this shop?
08:20450?
08:21About 450.
08:22Alright.
08:23Shall we do it?
08:24I think so, Michael.
08:25Yeah.
08:26You have spent 780 dollars.
08:30Oh.
08:31That's almost double what you thought.
08:33Plus you've got still more to go this week.
08:36Wow.
08:37That's shocking.
08:38Oh my God.
08:39What do you reckon?
08:40I actually think I want to be sick.
08:42It's actually made me realise that we're just wasting money on food.
08:49And that money could have gone to something else that we really need.
08:54And I just sort of think, well, I mean that's only going to last us like one, two weeks,
08:58and then we're back again.
09:00So, yeah, it's pretty much just going in and going out.
09:04That's it.
09:05Before the Atherton's get back, the guys get a peek at what's at home already.
09:09Okay, Ganesh, after that shop, this pantry should be empty.
09:13There's nothing in there.
09:14Are you ready?
09:15Yeah.
09:16It's not empty.
09:18This is not what I expected.
09:21Let's have a look in here.
09:23This is not what I expected.
09:24Let's have a look here.
09:25Where do we start?
09:26Look at that cereal.
09:27Look how much cereal they already had.
09:29One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
09:34There's nine packets of cereal.
09:36Oh my God.
09:37Different cereals.
09:38Did they not have a look in their pantry before they go shopping?
09:41Nine.
09:42And they brought, that's ten different cereals.
09:45What about this?
09:46Look at this.
09:47Snacks.
09:48Oh, what's hiding in the back?
09:50Some snacks.
09:51Some snacks.
09:52Sweet, salty mix.
09:53What's this?
09:54Let me help you with that.
09:55Here's some more snacks.
09:56Snacks.
09:57Here's some more snacks.
09:58Snacks.
09:59Snacks.
10:00Snacks.
10:01Snacks.
10:02You know what?
10:03This is definitely a family that is a bunch of little families doing whatever they want,
10:07whenever they want.
10:08All right.
10:09Let's have a look in the fridge.
10:10Okay.
10:11All right.
10:12Hello, Mr. Fridge.
10:13Let's see what's in here.
10:15Well, well, well.
10:17Looks like they had everything they needed.
10:20Fresh fruit and vegetables.
10:22Lovely.
10:23Didn't they buy some apples?
10:24I think they bought some more fruit and vegetables.
10:26Didn't they buy some cucumbers?
10:28They did.
10:29Tomato sauce.
10:30Tomato sauce.
10:31And look what I found over here.
10:33The list.
10:34There is a list.
10:35The missing shopping list, except they never made it to the supermarket.
10:37You know what we could have done?
10:38What?
10:39We could have told them, just don't go shopping this week.
10:44It's time for Jess and Simon to see what their massive shop looks like when unpacked.
10:48This took quite some time.
10:51Okay, people.
10:53So this is your shop.
10:55Yep.
10:56One week's food shopping right here.
10:58How do you feel when you look at this table, everything laid out like this?
11:01I think it just looks normal to us.
11:02Yeah.
11:03This has, like, become normality.
11:05This is what we do.
11:06My number one thing that I'm drawn to is these snacks.
11:11There is a lot of sugar right here.
11:15And I actually calculated in this party pack, there is the sugar of 35 apples.
11:24Just in there.
11:25Wow.
11:26So, you would sit down and potentially eat that in one sitting?
11:30Pretty much.
11:31Yeah.
11:32Yeah.
11:33That's shocking.
11:34That's a lot of apples.
11:35Quite a few of these things are actually doubled up.
11:36Yep.
11:37Like, you already had lots of snacks.
11:39Poplets.
11:40A full stock pantry and fridge and freezer.
11:43The funny thing is you've already got a full stock pantry and fridge.
11:45Now you've got a full stock dining table as well.
11:48Probably the biggest thing and the biggest concern is the sheer amount of sugar that's
11:52being consumed.
11:53And if you're consuming it, your kids are consuming it.
11:56And what you're doing is directly influencing what your kids are doing and what they're eating.
12:01And this, going down the track, has to lead into more serious things like diabetes.
12:07So, on this table, we have $780 worth of groceries.
12:12And what do you think the average family spends?
12:16200?
12:17250?
12:18It's about $379.
12:19Oh.
12:20That's what an average family, your size, spends.
12:22Yeah.
12:23So, you're doubling that right now.
12:25That doesn't include your food box.
12:28Yeah.
12:29This is an additional $150.
12:30Yeah.
12:31And we don't know if you're using all that up.
12:33There might be some waste in there.
12:35There is.
12:36Takeaways.
12:37I actually have the receipts for the takeaways that you've had this week.
12:41They come to $380.
12:43Oh.
12:44On top of $780.
12:46On top of $150.
12:49Your total is $1,300 a week.
12:54That's $68,000 a year.
12:57That's a serious amount of money.
12:59Oh, my God.
13:00That's like a house deposit.
13:01If we could save you $15,000 off that $68,000, that is a very good wedding.
13:07Yeah.
13:08I definitely think now, looking at that and how much we are in reality spending, yeah, I don't think I'm going to be very brand loyal now.
13:15Certain items.
13:16Maybe just my coffee.
13:17That's about the only one that I won't probably compromise on.
13:20But, yeah, I think we can make some really big changes and see a really big difference if we can just, yeah, try some new things.
13:28Yep.
13:29Well, tell you what, I've been thinking about it.
13:32She loves her brand so much.
13:33Yep.
13:34I don't know if we're going to get that much of a saving off her.
13:37So, max for me, $200 a week saving.
13:41That's a lot of money, but still, you know, that pantry's chocker.
13:46It is.
13:47The house is full.
13:48I'm going to go higher.
13:49I'm going to go $250.
13:50Wow.
13:51All right.
13:52Well, let's see if they sink a swim.
13:54Jess's packed pantry gets punked.
13:57Next.
13:58Our week of change starts and the Eat Well for Less elves have been busy overnight swapping up the Atherton's usual brands for cheaper and healthier options.
14:11But will they notice the changes because we've disguised all the food in plain packaging?
14:16Oh, there may well be some tricky swaps in there, if indeed they're swaps at all.
14:20Time to let the family in to see what they've got in store this week.
14:23Oh, my gosh.
14:27Oh, my gosh.
14:28It's all named.
14:29Oh, man.
14:30Oh, my God.
14:31I can't have my lollies.
14:32Where's my popcorn?
14:33Where's my water drops?
14:35No.
14:36It looks really empty.
14:38Yeah.
14:39This is not how I have my pantry.
14:42I've only got one thing of cereal.
14:44At least there's chips.
14:45Melee, there's your chocolate fingers.
14:47And that's about all you're allowed.
14:48Chips.
14:49Chips.
14:50Should we go and have a look in the fridge?
14:51Mm-hmm.
14:52Oh, my gosh.
14:53Oh, look.
14:54These are your mint chocolate ice cream.
14:55Yeah, but that's all that's in there.
14:56But my ice cream's gone.
14:57And that's it.
14:58Yeah, we've got no, no treats.
14:59No chippies.
15:00No fish fingers.
15:01No treats.
15:02Oh, my gosh.
15:03Oh, look.
15:04We've got all the fruit and veggies, though, guys.
15:05Oh, golly.
15:06Where's all your snacks, Noah?
15:07Oh, my gosh.
15:08Your tomato sauce.
15:09Peaches.
15:10We've got no sauces now.
15:11No sauces.
15:12No, no flavoring.
15:13We've got salsa.
15:14Salsa.
15:15Salsa.
15:16Salsa.
15:17Salsa.
15:18I don't really think that this food's gonna last us a week.
15:20Looking in there, very skeptical.
15:23It looks like it's half.
15:25Salsa.
15:26Salsa.
15:27Salsa.
15:28I don't really think that this food's gonna last us a week.
15:30Looking in there, very skeptical.
15:33It looks like it's half cleared out.
15:36It was quite hard for me to take, actually.
15:39I sort of thought,
15:40oh, my gosh, I need to go shopping again.
15:43Prepping just one meal for everyone is Jess's dream.
15:47So, Ganesh has come up with a $4 fix.
15:50All right.
15:51So, we're gonna make a meal today
15:53that all your kids are gonna love.
15:55And if they don't like something,
15:56you can swap it out and they'll love it again.
15:58All right.
15:59Do you do many stir fries in the house?
16:01Mmm.
16:02Yeah, occasionally.
16:03Occasionally.
16:04I tell you what.
16:05It's a great way of using up.
16:07Look at these frozen vegetables.
16:09Oh, frozen veggies.
16:10Frozen veggies.
16:11All right.
16:12Now, these are perfect for the stir fry.
16:14Everything in your freezer's perfect for a stir fry.
16:16You've got meats in there that are sitting there.
16:18All you have to do is put them in with delicious flavors
16:21and you'll be really happy.
16:22So, let's start really simply.
16:24Look at this beautiful broccoli.
16:26Oh, nice.
16:27All right.
16:28So, I'm gonna leave you to just pull some of these apart
16:30and then just cut the florets off for me.
16:33Now, did you know that that is super tasty?
16:36No.
16:37As well as being tasty,
16:38those broccoli stems also pack in slightly more calcium,
16:41iron and vitamin C than the florets.
16:43How many times a week would you really cook?
16:46Tell the truth.
16:47I'd say four times.
16:49Four times.
16:50So, four out of seven.
16:51Yeah.
16:52All right.
16:53That's not too bad.
16:54And are you having to cook different meals
16:55because the different kids want different things?
16:56Yes.
16:57Yep.
16:58Right.
16:59That's the stuff that's costing you money.
17:00Do we have prawns in the house often?
17:02Do the kids like prawns?
17:03Yeah, Noah loves prawns.
17:04Oh, my God.
17:05He can probably eat all of that by himself.
17:07Look out for supermarket offers
17:08because frozen prawns can be an economical
17:10and a low-fat source of protein.
17:12Splash of oil in a hot pan and we're off.
17:15Let's get them nice and warmed up.
17:17There we go.
17:18Generous handful.
17:19Generous handful.
17:20We'll put a little bit more
17:21because we love our family.
17:22Yes.
17:23Once the prawns are half done,
17:24it's time to add the veggies that cook faster.
17:26All right.
17:27How are we looking with the prawns?
17:28Are they pink-ish?
17:29Yeah, they're starting to turn pink-ish.
17:31There you go.
17:32Let's get this.
17:33Let's get the broccoli in.
17:34Yeah.
17:35Let's get the broccoli in.
17:36All right.
17:37Because we want our broccoli crunchy.
17:38Yeah.
17:39Come on, look at that.
17:40Gosh.
17:41There's a bit of that garlic in.
17:44And here's the magical stems that you cut, right?
17:46Oh, yeah?
17:47Those beautiful stems.
17:48So let's put a few of those just so you can try them today.
17:51Look at all that green.
17:52Yeah.
17:55Flavoursome soy and oyster sauce go in at the end.
17:57We are almost there.
17:58We are almost there.
17:59When you leave something alone.
18:00Yeah.
18:01It does its job.
18:02Yeah.
18:03So what we're trying to do right now is let the water that's coming out of some of those
18:06vegetables become steam.
18:07Yeah.
18:08And some of those sauces to become steam.
18:09And it's just cooking really slowly.
18:12Look at that.
18:14Garnish with chopped spring onions and it's ready for the table.
18:17And Garnish has a serving tip.
18:19We'll put it over the top.
18:20Okay.
18:21We'll tip it over.
18:22Give it a little shake.
18:23Mm-hmm.
18:25Voila.
18:26You know?
18:27And then the kids are like, oh my God, it's a little pile of rice.
18:29So far, so good.
18:30But will a family who normally eat different dinners go for it?
18:33Tuck in, please.
18:34Yes.
18:35Smells delicious, Garnish.
18:36Thank you, sir.
18:37On purpose, Garnish and Jess haven't made a big deal out of it.
18:41But this is also the first time an often reluctant Amelia is trying prawns.
18:45What do you think?
18:46Love it.
18:47Very flavoursome.
18:48Awesome.
18:49Awesome.
18:50What about yourself?
18:51Yeah, really good.
18:52And I feel like healthy eating it.
18:54What do you reckon?
18:55Really yummy.
18:56That's such good news.
18:57Now, the big lady here, what do you think of the food?
19:01Do you like it?
19:02So the thing is, Ganesh, this took you, what, 15 minutes?
19:07Tops.
19:08Yeah, using your ingredients that was already in your fridge and already in your freezer.
19:11Oh my gosh.
19:12Yeah?
19:13How do you feel about food boxes after you've had this?
19:15Well, we'll be reconsidering them.
19:17Totally.
19:18Absolutely.
19:19And if you took, how much you spent on this for a week on top of your bill, that'd be
19:23$7,800, almost $8,000 a year you're going to save.
19:27Oh my gosh.
19:28Just in stopping the food boxes.
19:30I mean, that's a lot of money.
19:31Yeah.
19:32As well as food boxes, another convenient dinner option has crept onto our supermarket
19:36shelves in the last few years.
19:39Over to Angela Beryl.
19:41This whole category of ready meals has really expanded and exploded over the last 10 years,
19:46especially as people have got busier.
19:48And while they can be a convenient option, because they've been prepared by a food manufacturer,
19:52they can contain more sugar, salt and saturated fat than we might have included
19:57if we cooked the meal at home.
19:59If we look at this rice dish here, essentially that has almost all your day's sodium requirements
20:04in just that one serve here.
20:05In there.
20:06Just in there.
20:07And look, it doesn't have anything really in the way of vegetables.
20:09No.
20:10Just a bit of a sprinkling.
20:11Mostly rice.
20:12It costs about $14.
20:13$14.
20:14$14.
20:15Can you believe it?
20:16That's a rip off.
20:17Family of four.
20:18$56.
20:19That's too much.
20:20Then we've got this meal over here.
20:21This is a Thai green curry.
20:22It's probably something that a lot of people can whip up at home quite easily.
20:25It actually contains about three quarters of your daily saturated fat requirements in
20:29that serve.
20:30So if I was to make this at home, why would I change?
20:33So the saturated fat is essentially coming from the coconut cream.
20:37At home you're going to cut a whole lot of saturated fat out by using a light coconut
20:42milk.
20:43Mmm.
20:44If we look at all these meals, we're actually going to be very, very low on the vegetable
20:48component.
20:49And with your vegetables, you should be aiming for about half your plate to be made up of
20:53non-starchy vegetables.
20:54And what's this one?
20:55Hard to tell, right?
20:56It doesn't look very appealing.
20:57There's a couple little chunks in there.
20:59Chunks of what?
21:00Teriyaki chicken.
21:01Oh.
21:02Okay.
21:03And there's not a heck of a lot in there.
21:05It's only about 60 grams.
21:0660 grams.
21:07Which is the equivalent of that amount in there.
21:10Wow.
21:11Look at that.
21:12That much chicken.
21:13That's not right.
21:14It's pretty small.
21:15So for a lot of people, that's probably not enough to fill them up.
21:18We do need to actually listen to our body's hunger cues.
21:21And just because these come in a standard serving size, it may be a little bit more
21:25or less than what some people might need.
21:28But it's not much chicken.
21:29And it's the cost across all of them.
21:31So with these things, what I'd actually recommend doing is to bump up the fibre and
21:35vegetable component, is to serve a whole lot of vegetables on the side at home, and
21:40to really pay attention to the nutrition labels, and look for products that contain the least
21:44amount of sodium, saturated fat, and sugar per 100 grams.
21:49Amelia has a very special guest for her tea time food test.
21:54You want to pour Daddy a drink?
22:00Amelia, do you want to try some new sauce and see if it's new or if it's the same type that
22:06we normally have?
22:07With some nice fish fingers.
22:09Do you like this?
22:10Yeah.
22:11Yeah?
22:12Yeah.
22:13Dip it in.
22:14Do you like it?
22:19Do you think it's the same sauce or different sauce?
22:24Different sauce.
22:25Different, eh?
22:26Daddy thinks it's different too.
22:28Why do you think it's different?
22:29Does it taste different?
22:30Do you like the fish fingers?
22:34Are they the same ones that you normally have?
22:37No.
22:38No?
22:39You think they're different too?
22:40No.
22:41Are they better?
22:42Are they yummier?
22:43Yeah?
22:44Do you like the sauce?
22:46Do you think we should buy it again?
22:49What?
22:50No?
22:51Yeah.
22:52We'll buy it again.
22:53Phew.
22:54That was close.
22:55While there's no saving on the sauce, it's a light version of the usual brand with half
22:59the salt and a third of the sugar.
23:01Oh, and they may think the fish fingers are better, but it's their usual brand.
23:05Yeah?
23:06Yeah.
23:07Yeah.
23:08Bitter, better, or just a bit blah, your coffee reviews are next.
23:16Jeez, that one's like, didn't really hit my taste buds, eh?
23:19It's pretty, sort of, av.
23:27Breakfast test time in Karaka for the family who usually have 10 cereals to choose from.
23:32How will they cope with supermarket own brand?
23:34You gonna give it a try?
23:35Yeah.
23:36Yeah?
23:37Give it a little go.
23:38Ooh, is that crunchy?
23:39What about you, Noah?
23:40Tastes a little bit like cornflakes.
23:41Would you eat it again, do you think?
23:42Do you think we can have this in our pantry?
23:43Mm-hmm.
23:44Yeah?
23:45What else could we put on it?
23:46Maybe some yoghurt?
23:47Some fruit?
23:48Yoghurt.
23:49Yoghurt.
23:50Yeah.
23:51Ooh, yummy.
23:52I think we could try this one again, then.
23:53Yep.
23:54Woo-hoo.
23:55We're on to a winner, and in one go, 10 boxes becomes just one.
23:56I think that's what I've learnt out of it, is that, you know, I just need to put the
24:12things in, and whatever's in there, they just need to eat, regardless.
24:15Well, that swap out was surprisingly easy, but will our raspberry jam switch go down as
24:20well?
24:21Let's have a look.
24:22The test.
24:23Okay.
24:24Let's see.
24:25Ooh.
24:26It actually spreads okay.
24:29So my jam, that I like, spreads nicely.
24:32You have a taste, and see.
24:35What do you reckon?
24:40Different.
24:41Still nice.
24:42I like this one.
24:43Okay, I'll have a look and see.
24:46Mm.
24:48Mm.
24:49Actually, it's nice.
24:51Jess has a love affair going on with her pricey big-name brand coffee, but can we tempt
24:56them apart with a cheeky and cheap instant swap out?
24:59All right.
25:00The test.
25:01Mm.
25:02It doesn't taste as strong as what you normally have.
25:06I don't reckon it's the same one.
25:07No.
25:08I could taste it straight away.
25:09You must be right, because if you notice, it actually doesn't taste so bad.
25:10Yeah.
25:11It's coffee's coffee.
25:12Like, I'm fussy, and for me to say that, it doesn't actually taste so bad.
25:13I'll get it again.
25:14Yeah, I'll get it again.
25:15Yeah, I think.
25:16Especially if we can, like, you know, if it's a saving on what I spend on my coffee already,
25:31then maybe we should have it, give it a go.
25:33Yeah.
25:34Definitely.
25:35Jess went for the swap, but we wanted to road test well-known instant coffee brands with
25:39these discerning sippers, and these guys get through a fair old amount of it, as the boss
25:45will tell you.
25:46I'm buying it all the time for them, and yeah, I do three or four cups a day here.
25:53And they know what they like.
25:55Am I a coffee snob?
25:57I would say probably, because someone make me a coffee, and I'd be like, that's terrible.
26:04I like a nice, strong brew with a bit of body to it.
26:07When you think of a coffee, it's got to have a little bit of body and a little bit of punch,
26:11but not too bitter.
26:12Yeah.
26:13So it's time to separate the average from the superior bean blend.
26:16Today our mechanics will be testing a supermarket-owned brand, Avalanche Italian Style Instant,
26:21a brew by Jed's, Robert Harris's French Roasters bringing in the Continental, and Jess's favourite,
26:26the best-seller Makona Classic.
26:28But which instant coffee will give the best caffeine hit, and which will be a flavour miss?
26:33Smargo time!
26:34Jed's is up first.
26:36There you go.
26:37Cheers.
26:38Jeez, that one's like, didn't really hit my taste buds, eh?
26:43It's pretty, sort of, av.
26:46Yeah?
26:48It's alright.
26:49It's not too bad, actually.
26:50What do you reckon?
26:51Yeah.
26:52It could taste quite nice.
26:53I can't get the flavour, it's not really happening.
26:56But it's there.
26:57It's kind of like a flat tyre buddy.
26:59Mixed reactions there.
27:00Perhaps the supermarket-owned brand will hit the spot.
27:01I reckon it's got a little bit more flavour, eh?
27:02Yeah, a bit more of a full flavour, I think.
27:03I thought the one previous was richer.
27:04No, that was weak as.
27:05No, I don't think it was weaker.
27:06Weak as cat.
27:07Whatever that one.
27:08It's got different taste buds, eh?
27:09Yeah, you get cheap tyres than you get budget tyres, mid-range tyres.
27:11I'd say this would be, I don't know, probably a mid-range tyre.
27:14Yeah.
27:15Yeah, yeah.
27:16Yeah, yeah.
27:17Time to see how Robert Harris measures up.
27:32Oh, ka-poi.
27:34Wow, that one really, really tastes like coffee.
27:37Stir it.
27:38Yeah.
27:39We're getting stronger as we go back.
27:42Yeah, we're getting stronger as we go further around.
27:46I reckon that's got some on for to it, right?
27:48That's your morning coffee.
27:50Yeah.
27:52David!
27:54Good point.
27:55It's like that sort of feel when you have a coffee go out in the morning and you just feel that buzz.
27:59I think it's your heart going, but either way, you know.
28:03We could probably do a bit of that in the morning, can we, David?
28:05Oh, definitely.
28:06Yeah.
28:07Now the best-selling Mokona.
28:12We're up.
28:15Oh, what's going on there?
28:18I think blue.
28:19I think it's a little step down from the other one.
28:21The other one's a bit more body, a little bit more comfortable.
28:24I reckon it's probably more of a posh one.
28:26It might be a bit more expensive, I would say.
28:29Alright, lucky last.
28:31And finally, the avalanche.
28:33Can this one bury the competition?
28:37You guys will like this one.
28:39It's really cocky-tasting.
28:41Nah, it's still like that other one, eh?
28:43The red.
28:44Not for me.
28:46Yeah.
28:47What do you reckon, boss?
28:48Yeah, it doesn't have the flavour.
28:51This tastes familiar, though.
28:52It's interesting flavour.
28:53It's got a bit of taste.
28:54Yeah.
28:55It's kind of like the Australian rugby team, don't you think?
28:57Like, it's coffee, but it really ain't hit me at this well.
29:00Yeah.
29:01Time to find out whose beans reigned supreme.
29:04Robert Harris's French roast had our mechanic saying ooh la la, while the Countdown roast took out second place.
29:10Best seller and most expensive Makona made fourth place, and Avalanche slid in last.
29:15Robert Harris is a good choice. I mean, it comes in a grey-looking jar, but it's got a bit of body to it.
29:21Yes, I would buy it for our staff.
29:24You heard it here first. When it comes to coffee break time, the most expensive doesn't necessarily mean the best.
29:30As a nation, we throw out shameful amounts of perfectly good food.
29:34So, to help the Athertons think before they chuck, Mike's created a throw-out veggie salad.
29:39Like, would we ever use that?
29:40No.
29:41What would I do with it?
29:42Just, like, properly throw it out.
29:45Throw it out? Yeah, I would.
29:46So, we're gonna try and use everything today.
29:49So, it says here that we need to cut up all the veggies.
29:53Food wastage is a major issue for the Athertons, and Jess can be rather too keen to chuck rather than cook.
29:59Hopefully, Mike's clever salad will kick-start the cost savings.
30:02With veggies sliced and diced, it's time for the all-important seasoning.
30:06First, a splash of oil.
30:08Ooh!
30:09Barbecue smell.
30:10Yeah, it's like a barbecue smell, that's right.
30:12Then smoked paprika powder and a good grind of salt.
30:15There we go.
30:16You think Dad's gonna like it?
30:17No.
30:18No?
30:19He loves veggies!
30:21He does!
30:23Okay, that looks pretty good, actually.
30:25Lay out the mix on a roasting tray.
30:27Baking paper will help keep the clean-up small.
30:30All right, so just spread them around the tray.
30:32Keep the veggies in a single layer, and not too closely packed, or they won't go golden.
30:38With veggies now roasting, it's time to wash and dry the chickpeas.
30:41You're kind of like dabbing them to dry them, like that.
30:43Then tip them in a heated frying pan for a quick sauté.
30:47How are you enjoying it?
30:48Cooking with me so far.
30:50All right, so those are nice and golden.
30:54All right, so now you're gonna turn that off.
30:56So I'm gonna bring them over here onto the bench.
30:58So just be careful, because it's very, very hot.
31:01Once golden and crunchy, Jess and Noah can prepare the rest of the salad, starting with
31:05tomatoes, parsley, crushed garlic, and lemon zest.
31:08What usually happens with my lemons, Noah?
31:11Um, they just sit there.
31:13So there you go.
31:14That's a good way for us to use it now, isn't it?
31:16Well, that's pretty good.
31:17All right, now you're gonna mix it all together.
31:19There we go.
31:20Hold the bowl.
31:21Give it a nice little mix.
31:22Oh yeah, that looks so yum.
31:25Get the veggies out of the oven, then mix it all up to create a warm salad.
31:29A salad that's coming at just $2.87 per person.
31:32Oh, look at that.
31:35Ready to eat?
31:36Yep.
31:37Let's do it.
31:39All right, so Noah and I have cooked a nice roast veggie salad with chickpeas.
31:43It looks nice and rustic.
31:44The big test, of course, will be whether dedicated carnivore Simon bites.
31:49Parsnip, babe.
31:50How often do we have parsnip?
31:52See, I'd make that again because, I mean, as much as I love my kitchen, I don't want to be in there all night.
31:58Yeah, we were getting our veggies too.
32:00Mm.
32:01Don't really miss the meat.
32:02No.
32:03We thought you were gonna miss the meat in this dish, but you haven't.
32:08Waste and packaging are proving a big issue for our families, and I've been given an opportunity to talk to the big cheese of all things sustainable here at Countdown.
32:20Hi Kiri.
32:21Thanks for joining us.
32:22Now, what can we as consumers do to limit waste?
32:25I guess the best things that Kiwis can do to limit waste is to stop chucking out so much food.
32:30So in New Zealand, you might be surprised to know that we waste about 30% of our food, which is quite unbelievable.
32:36Wow.
32:37So there's lots of things that we can do to stop that at home, and I guess the best thing is to plan.
32:40To plan what you're gonna eat for the week and buy accordingly, not too much.
32:43What about food waste?
32:44I mean, you must throw a ton of it away.
32:46No way near as much as you think, because we've made a commitment that by 2020 we'll have zero food waste to landfill.
32:53It's something we're really proud of.
32:54It's a great commitment.
32:55We're working really hard to do it.
32:56How we do it is by donating everything we can to charities across New Zealand.
33:00Every one of our stores has a food rescue partner.
33:02Last year we donated 10.4 million meals to hungry New Zealanders, so that's something we're really proud of as a whole team.
33:09The best thing we can do, of course, is to order properly to make sure we haven't got too much stock, which is what Kiwis need to do in their own fridges.
33:14But yeah, we're working really hard to have zero food waste in our business.
33:17Awesome.
33:20Hygiene and pest control manager Simon undoubtedly loves his kids, but he gives them far too many cakes and treats.
33:26Hey kids.
33:27Hello.
33:28So instead, Mike's got a healthier cupcake to dazzle the kids with.
33:31And at $2 a shot, they're far cheaper than fancy bakery bought.
33:36Right Simon, are you ready for this?
33:39I think so.
33:40Have you ever made muffins?
33:41No.
33:42No.
33:43Have you ever made cupcakes?
33:44No.
33:45This recipe is kind of a combination of both, really.
33:47So treats, in a way, have become the norm.
33:51So this is a treat that we can make, or you can make, for Amelia.
33:57Yep.
33:58And then down the track, Amelia can become part of making this treat for herself.
34:03And then she's learning what's going into her food, and what's not going into her food.
34:08So this here is a pumpkin.
34:11Pumpkin cupcakes for Amelia.
34:14It would be amazing if we could get her to try them.
34:16Yeah.
34:17And taste them and go, wow, I really love this.
34:19And then you go, do you realise there's pumpkin in this?
34:21And she'd be like, oh.
34:22The humble pumpkin usually plays second fiddle to other ingredients, but today, it's the
34:27star of Michael's sneaky sweet treat.
34:29While Simon carefully chops, Michael gets going on a dough mixture.
34:33Probably the biggest thing for me is you get to control what you put in it.
34:36Yep.
34:37So normally you'd probably call for, I don't know, two cups of sugar in that.
34:41So this is a quarter of a cup of raw sugar.
34:43Yep.
34:44So you've got a quarter amount of sugar that you'd normally have in what you buy.
34:49Okay.
34:50Graty, graty on pumpkin.
34:52One, two.
34:55Walnuts get added, and after a mix, they're into the oven.
34:58That looks great.
34:59See?
35:00Yep.
35:01Done deal.
35:02A smaller mould means smaller cupcakes, which makes these perfect for snacking on or slipping into
35:06lunch boxes.
35:07Yeah.
35:08Okay.
35:09Good to go in.
35:1025 minutes.
35:12Let them cool, and then it's time for some icing.
35:15We're going to dress these up.
35:17Yep.
35:18Because we want Amelia to go, oh, they just look so good, I've got to eat them.
35:22And we get all those veggies into her, and she doesn't even know.
35:25Cream cheese icing is a time-honoured classic, but will today's untraditional cake get a sticky
35:31thumbs up?
35:32It's as simple as that.
35:35Ready?
35:36Yeah.
35:37Ugh.
35:38Sit there.
35:39We've made something, something special.
35:42Your daddy made them.
35:43Look at these.
35:44What do you think of that?
35:45Good.
35:46Good?
35:47Do they look yummy?
35:48Yeah.
35:49Do you want to try one?
35:50They look cool, don't they, with all that gold on there?
35:52Look, they look like fairy cupcakes.
35:53Can we try one?
35:54Mm-hmm.
35:55Is that okay?
35:56What do you think?
35:57Yummy?
35:58Do you know daddy made these for you?
35:59Mm-hmm.
36:00Are you surprised daddy baked?
36:01Are these better than you?
36:02Are these better than your normal treats?
36:03No.
36:04No.
36:05Yeah.
36:06Yeah.
36:07Yeah.
36:08Yeah.
36:09Oh yeah.
36:10They're homemade.
36:11Look in there, Amelia.
36:12Do you see that there?
36:13See that?
36:14See that?
36:15Yeah.
36:16Yeah.
36:17Can we try one?
36:18Can we try one?
36:19Mm-hmm.
36:20Is that okay?
36:21What do you think?
36:22Yummy?
36:23Melee?
36:24Hmm?
36:25Do you know daddy made these for you?
36:26Mm-hmm.
36:27Are you surprised daddy baked?
36:28Are these better than your normal treats?
36:32Yeah.
36:33Oh yeah.
36:34They're homemade.
36:35Look in there, Amelia.
36:36Do you see that there?
36:37Yeah.
36:38See that orange thing?
36:39What do you think that is?
36:40That's not the one.
36:41Look.
36:42That is pumpkin.
36:43Pumpkin?
36:44Do you like pumpkin?
36:45Mm-hmm.
36:46Can you do that?
36:47Their spending was outlandish.
36:48But have they really cut back?
36:49Find out next.
36:50It's time to see how the week went for our family of big spenders.
36:55Has it been the kickstart to save they so clearly needed?
36:57Exciting.
36:58Are we good?
36:59Big knock.
37:00Big knock.
37:01That's a double knock.
37:02Yeah.
37:03There you go.
37:04Hello.
37:05Hello.
37:06Hi.
37:07Hi.
37:08Hi.
37:09Hi.
37:10Hi.
37:11Hi.
37:12Hi.
37:13Hi.
37:14Hi.
37:15Hi.
37:16Hi.
37:17Hi.
37:18Hi.
37:19Hi.
37:20How are you?
37:21Are you happy to see you?
37:22Yes.
37:23Good.
37:24Okay, let's go.
37:25Come on in.
37:26Do it.
37:27So team, how was the week?
37:28Tell us the truth.
37:29It wasn't as bad as what we thought.
37:31Yeah?
37:32Yeah.
37:33We were pleasantly surprised with ourselves.
37:34What was the thing that got you?
37:35I didn't think I'd feel that way, but you did.
37:36What was the thing that got you?
37:38The amount of food that we had in the fridge.
37:40And the lack of meat that, you know, I didn't think it would be enough, but it's, yeah,
37:45it's lasted.
37:46Yeah.
37:47Fantastic.
37:48As many veggies as he did.
37:49Veggies are great.
37:50Yeah.
37:51Yeah.
37:52And Amelia?
37:53Loves it.
37:54Oh my gosh.
37:55I was so surprised with her.
37:56Yes.
37:57I really thought that she was going to be extremely fussy.
37:58But she's really, really transformed, hasn't she?
37:59Yeah.
38:00She's embraced it.
38:01Yeah.
38:02She's jumped into the three Ps.
38:03Prawns, parsnips, pumpkin.
38:04Amazing.
38:05Ah.
38:06Amazing.
38:07All right.
38:08Well, I think it's time for you to see how this could get better, maybe.
38:13I think we've got some good news.
38:14Let's see.
38:15Should we do it?
38:16Let's see.
38:17All right.
38:18Okay.
38:19Here we go.
38:20So your original shop was a staggering $780.
38:25Yep.
38:28We've got a few swaps here.
38:30Let's see if the taste buds are going to help them out.
38:32Should we do it?
38:33Yep.
38:34Absolutely.
38:35All right.
38:36So coffee's a big one for you.
38:37Yes.
38:38You love your coffee.
38:39Yep.
38:40So can you just grab my Makona?
38:42You had a brand that you loved?
38:43Yes.
38:44It was the only one you'd have?
38:45It was.
38:46Yep.
38:47But here is this amazing thing that you had.
38:52And the best part about this, which I'm really happy about, is look at that saving.
38:58No way.
39:00That's a lot.
39:01Mine's like $12.
39:03That's your saving.
39:04Holy moly.
39:05And this is going to get you straight on that road to saving money.
39:08So you felt good about this?
39:10Yeah.
39:11Like I could smell the difference, but as soon as I taste it, the taste seemed like exactly
39:16the same.
39:17Could you smell the saving?
39:18Well, I can now.
39:19Bring it on.
39:20So, is this a swap?
39:23Both thumbs up.
39:25Fantastic.
39:26Next.
39:27I've got something in here which is very close to your heart.
39:30Oh boy.
39:31What is tomato sauce?
39:34I know.
39:35Do you think it's the same sauce or different sauce?
39:37Different sauce.
39:38Different, eh?
39:39So what did you think of the swap?
39:41I think it was good.
39:42I thought it was swap that start, and then when I kept tasting it, I thought, nah, it's
39:47still Watties.
39:48So you're 50-50.
39:49You couldn't really tell.
39:5050-50.
39:51Mainly I thought it was being swapped.
39:52But you still eat it, huh?
39:53Yeah, still eat it.
39:54Are you ready?
39:55Yeah.
39:56Oh.
39:57It still is.
39:58Oh my gosh.
39:59Your favourite brand.
40:01However, this one is a light one.
40:05So it's reduced salt, reduced sugar.
40:07Yeah.
40:08Wow.
40:09The saving is nothing.
40:11Except on your health.
40:12Yeah.
40:13Except on your health, which is a massive saving.
40:15Amazing.
40:16Exactly.
40:17Wow.
40:18See?
40:19You know your sauce.
40:20So, who's the jammy lover in the house?
40:24This one.
40:25Me.
40:26Ooh.
40:27It actually spreads okay.
40:29Actually, it's nice.
40:31How much jam do you reckon you'd go through?
40:33I reckon we go through about a jar in maybe two weeks.
40:38Two weeks.
40:39Yep.
40:40And there's only certain types of brands that you like?
40:42Yes.
40:43Right?
40:44And you know your jam.
40:45And I know my jam.
40:46You wouldn't have a jam.
40:47No way.
40:48If you didn't love it.
40:49Nope.
40:50How was the one that you tried?
40:51It was actually really nice.
40:52Yeah?
40:53Yeah, really good.
40:54Could you tell when you tasted it?
40:55I could tell the difference.
40:56What was it?
40:57But it was more the spread, not the taste.
40:59Wow.
41:00So it was the way that it spread on the toast rather than the taste of it.
41:03And I liked the taste of it.
41:05She's a jam connoisseur.
41:07She knows the jam.
41:08Shall we reveal?
41:09I think we should.
41:10I think we should.
41:11So, you are enjoying this beautiful.
41:15Oh.
41:16Jam right here.
41:17But I think you're going to enjoy this a little bit more.
41:20Look at that.
41:21Oh, wow.
41:22Yeah.
41:23It's a lot.
41:24I love that jam.
41:25So is this a swap?
41:27That's a swap.
41:28Next up, I've probably got something that you consume a lot of, which is the bread.
41:34Yes.
41:35Yeah.
41:36That's a huge thing goes on in this house.
41:37Yeah.
41:38How many loaves was it?
41:39Four?
41:40Five.
41:41Four loaves plus Vogels.
41:43Yeah, for me.
41:44Another two loaves of Vogels.
41:45Yeah.
41:46Okay.
41:47So what did you think of the one that you tasted?
41:49No difference to what we normally have.
41:51It was still nice.
41:53Yeah, I think you said that it was just like a little bit, not as soft, but you couldn't
41:58really tell because it was toast that we tried it on.
42:00True.
42:01So if we tried it on a sandwich, I don't think it'd make a difference really.
42:04No.
42:05Yeah.
42:06He liked it.
42:07Are you ready?
42:08He liked it.
42:09The one that you tried was this.
42:11Ah.
42:12Ooh.
42:13It's not our normal one.
42:14No, it's not.
42:15No, it's not.
42:16We knew that.
42:17And probably the biggest thing with the bread is the saving.
42:21That's huge.
42:22That's right.
42:23Wow.
42:24That's right.
42:25That's $400 a year just on bread.
42:28Just on bread.
42:29Wow.
42:30Isn't that massive?
42:31That is massive.
42:32So is this a swap?
42:34Yeah.
42:35Yeah.
42:36It's a swap.
42:37It's a swap.
42:38That's like a...
42:39What the boss say.
42:40You loved all your swaps.
42:41We did.
42:42You did.
42:43And if you keep that up, this is what.
42:45It's amazing.
42:46The original shop, 780.
42:48Yeah.
42:49If you keep all those swaps, it's going to bring it down to 470.
42:52Oh.
42:53No way.
42:54Serious.
42:55That's a saving of 310 per week, and that's a combined saving.
43:00Oh.
43:01You ready for this?
43:02What's that combined saving?
43:03You ready?
43:04$16,000.
43:05Oh my gosh.
43:06A year.
43:07A year.
43:08But wait.
43:09There's more.
43:10There is more.
43:11There is more.
43:12If you drop your food boxes, which is $8,000 a year, it combines to $24,000 a year that
43:21you could save just by keeping this up.
43:23That is a great wedding.
43:25Isn't that an amazing wedding?
43:26And a family holiday.
43:27And a family holiday.
43:28And a family holiday.
43:29And like a back up ring.
43:30Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
43:31Give me three of those.
43:32Isn't that incredible?
43:33That's incredible.
43:34$24,000.
43:35And we've already actually started because we dropped the food boxes last night.
43:39Well, you've already saved eight grand.
43:40You're on the road to $24,000.
43:42Just keep this up, guys.
43:43You're doing so well.
43:44Oh my gosh.
43:45You did say that you were going to try and save us $15,000 a year.
43:48We did say that.
43:49We did say that.
43:50And you've exceeded it.
43:51We've blown our own minds.
43:53Oh my gosh.
43:54Now I've got butterflies, but they're good butterflies.
43:55That's great.
43:56Well done, team.
43:57Well done.
43:59Yeah, thank you.
44:00Oh my gosh.
44:01Oh, well.
44:02Thousand percent happy that we did this.
44:03Yeah.
44:04We've completely changed our way of thinking for the best for us.
44:12And the kids.
44:13Yeah, and the kids.
44:14And know that we're on our way to healthy eating.
44:17On our way to stop wasting food.
44:19On our way to our wedding.
44:21Our holiday.
44:22Yeah, quick meals that we can do.
44:2320 minutes.
44:24Yeah.
44:25And it's healthy for the kids.
44:26Yeah, it's good.
44:27Really awesome.
44:29So $24,000.
44:30That's a hell of a wedding.
44:32Isn't it?
44:33Hey, did you get an invite?
44:34I did, didn't you?
44:35No, I didn't.
44:36But tell her what I did get.
44:38These party mix.
44:40Party in your pocket.
44:41They're not going to need this.
44:43They're trying to save money.
44:45Is that bad?
44:47No, it's not.
44:48I mean, we've helped them save thousands of dollars.
44:51What's a bag of party mix?
44:52I don't think I've ever tried a party mix.
44:54Come on now.
44:55Quite sweet.
44:56Come on now.
44:57Stop it.
44:58Stop it.
44:59I've seen you.
45:00I've seen you with your party mix bag.
45:02I've seen you devoured party mix.
45:04I've seen you.
45:05Party mix sandwich.
45:06Party mix pie.
45:07Yeah.
45:08Deep-fried party mix.
45:09Party mix tacos.
45:10Batch of them.
45:11You want more?
45:12I'm all right.
45:13I'm all right.
