00:00So today we're going to check out the NT1 fifth generation black and we're going to go ahead and
00:04unbox this and completely showcase this how it looks, how it sounds, how everything. I am really
00:10excited because personally I have a lot of dynamic microphones and for me to have a nice large
00:15diagram condenser microphone is going to be something pretty new for me. So I've always
00:20wanted to see how something like this works. I'm personally a YouTuber so I actually do a lot of
00:24voiceover work with my job, with my channels and a lot of times I don't appear on him. I just
00:29you just hear my voice and so for me having that audio quality and having it at the utmost quality
00:35is absolutely important and key for me. So we'll start off here. Let's go ahead and showcase. So
00:41the box comes really hefty as you guys can see. This personally is already just a shock mount and
00:47filter which I have to say I mean wow this is like jam-packed full of stuff already and I'm just
00:54really impressed. So you get a really beefy shock mount as you guys can see here. I mean this thing
00:59is it's heavy. It is heavy which it's all metal construction here right here. I think there is
01:06like you have the rope right here but all this right here is metal. This right here is I think
01:11it's is it plastic? No it's all metal. Everything is for the metal. This right here is definitely
01:14plastic but the rest of this is is all metal and as you guys can see you can definitely like tailor
01:22make this to put that microphone where you need it to go. This also comes with what looks like a really
01:27really long very thick USB-C cable and I'm guessing this is for when you would use the
01:34USB-C portion of this and you would use that 32-bit flow and you would plug this in directly into your
01:40computer. We'll use XLR and we'll use both the USB-C today and then we have what is the pop filter
01:46right here which is really awesome. So definitely a quality pop filter. You can feel it. It's got this
01:52like mesh feel right here and it feels really good. All right then we have another box right here and
01:57I'm not sure what's in this box here. It looks like oh you get maybe what would would this be almost
02:03looks like a little too small for the microphone but all that came in this box is this right here so
02:07you can go ahead and just put more items. So there you go. Opening up this red box now we have what is
02:13going to be the XLR cable which I have to say wow this is an absolutely quality XLR cable very much a big
02:22fan. Wow man this is incredible that you get something like this in this package deal here
02:29with this microphone. That's really that's really awesome. Finally though let's go ahead now and open
02:34up this microphone. This is obviously the star of the show and there it is and immediately you can
02:42feel all metal design. The grill here feels really good. You have what if you look right inside you
02:49have the XLR then you have the USB-C and it is just really really nice. There's no switches from what I
02:57can see and it does say it's made in Australia which is really good and there you go. One thing that I've
03:03heard that you can't listen back on these one for one because it doesn't have like that headphone jack but
03:09overall though I mean this is a quality design. It just it looks gorgeous. I love it. It's beautiful like
03:17the the grill right here is really solid solidly constructed. The metal all body design is really
03:24really well done. You can tell you can probably drop this quite a bit and you'll be okay and that's
03:29something that you know when you're you are looking at this point compared to other microphones you want
03:34to make sure that that's uh that's definitely quality. Now another thing I want to point out
03:38is that there's actually like these little ridges right here as you guys can see right there and you
03:43can actually just go ahead and just like screw it on right here and that really ensures that it's
03:50going to stay on there which I really really really really really like. So that's uh that's something
03:55that I just didn't see coming with this. They really kind of thought of everything here which is
03:59really really cool and then you would just go ahead and put in the pop filter as well. So
04:04just overall really impressed. Now we'll go ahead and do some audio samples but I just have I just
04:08wanted to kind of point out how this thing is just completely intuitive in every way possible and uh
04:14it's just really impressive. Finally if you're wondering how the pop filter works I was able to
04:17figure that out pretty quickly. Uh you simply just put it in this this little apparatus down here
04:23and you you go ahead and you put that in and then this thing will just tighten up. So you just want to
04:27make sure that when you're uh using the microphone that you're talking into the front end of it but
04:31I mean for the most part at that point it'll be very like uh it'll it'll be very intuitive. You
04:36would just lock this in place right here to keep the pop filter in in place and then you would just
04:41lock this in to keep this portion in place as well. So you could really customize it. So me personally
04:47more than likely what I'm going to do is I'm going to have it pretty close to the microphone because I
04:50like to talk pretty pretty up on the microphone. So um really cool innovative designs as I keep

07:05Alright so this is just me now with the USB plugged into the computer. So the holidays are now in full

07:33these massive obstacles there's a lot more to this. So I've now gotten to hear back everything I've
07:39gotten to put this through its paces I've gotten to really like gain the grasp of this microphone and
07:45for me to my ears it absolutely sounds better than my Shure SM7B and my RE20. Those of course are
07:52dynamic microphones and naturally they're just going to give off a different sound because this is a
07:56condenser and that's just naturally how it's going to go. For me I've used dynamic microphones because
08:01of my loud environments. Now in these days I don't have as loud as environments so that's why something
08:07like this for me really works. Ultimately though with my me being my treated room it just sounds
08:12really incredible. It sounds amazing. One thing that really surprised me is when I did USB I didn't
08:17really get to there's no like you can't really you can mess a little bit with the EQ with the Rode
08:21Connect app but I was completely neutral. Everything was completely neutral and one thing I'll definitely
08:27notice is that it sounded very much similar. It's it's you lose a little bit of quality in my opinion
08:33versus the you know the XLR portion of this but it sounds really good considering that everything
08:39all the internals are in here all the processing is done inside this microphone everything is just
08:44done inside this microphone is really really impressive. So for someone like me who travels a
08:48lot that's something that I definitely will wait as you know if I'm going to end up keeping this
08:53microphone because I don't want to always bring an audio interface with me and so when all I need to
08:58do is just plug in a USB cable that really works really well. So overall very impressed I mean you
09:04can hear all the sound differences between the different ones. One thing I did notice just a
09:08random note I use different headphones and you can definitely get like the color that you the
09:13coloring of what you're hearing will definitely sound different than headphones but ultimately I did
09:17come out thinking you know this sounded the very best out of all my other microphones and all the
09:22other microphones were treated the same way in terms of you know the space and everything. So
09:26ultimately do I recommend the Rode NT1 5th generation for all your needs absolutely you're
09:31getting an absolute quality design the audio is top notch then you get the 32-bit float which
09:37is an incredible piece of tech that's just basically you can let the audio go any way you want you can
09:43let it go really loud you can talk really low and then you can boost everything in post or you can
09:47lower the volume in post you know so that's something that if you if you're a singer like I can't see
09:52for my use case 32-bit float being very useful but for a singer or anything along those lines or if
09:58you're like a streamer and you just scream out of top of your lungs I can see that being really good
10:02so this is kind of like a workhorse that does everything it sounds great the quality is amazing
10:07you get a lot of accessories I'm not sure that there's a better set of microphone that you could
10:14buy that gives you everything that you want in the package that this microphone does it gives you
10:18everything it gives you a great shock mount it gives you a great pop filter it gives you all the
10:24connections you need all the USB connections like everything it's just amazing and this by far is one
10:30of the best things that you can get on the market for this point compared to other microphones so if
10:35you're looking for the Rode NT1 5th generation it absolutely 100% has my recommendation
