Kristin Chenoweth chats with THR at the Tony Awards red carpet and describes why this season of Broadway stands out. Plus, she dishes on her excitement to see the part two of 'Wicked' with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

00:00How special is it to come back here and celebrate the Tony?
00:03It feels like coming home.
00:05I was thinking 1999 was when I won.
00:09I've been nominated a few times since, but when I go off and do other kinds of work and get to come home,
00:15I'm always reminded that this is our night, and everybody is talented.
00:21Not just one or two, everybody, and it makes me proud.
00:24A lot of people have been saying this season of Broadway has been especially thrilling.
00:30Why do you think that is?
00:31There's been so much new work.
00:33I think people worked so much during COVID, and now they're seeing the fruits of their labor.
00:38You have how many new shows?
00:40Dead Outlaw, Death Becomes Her, Betty Boop.
00:43There's so many great real women have curves.
00:46Raina Vista Social Club.
00:48I mean, we have so much variety.
00:50It's beautiful.
00:51And also seeing the world sort of embrace Broadway in this new way,
00:55especially after all the success of Wicked.
00:57I haven't had a chance to talk to you since that came out.
01:00What was it like kind of seeing Cynthia and Ariana on screen and Wicked Part 2 coming out?
01:05I'm so proud of them.
01:07They know how I feel about them.
01:08And they know how I feel about the Beast.
01:10I thought John Chu nailed the production.
01:13And now Part 2, I'm probably going to cry buckets.
01:17I'm going to cry buckets.
01:18Well, eight shows a week is no easy feat to accomplish.
01:23Not for the week.
01:25Definitely not for yourself.
01:26Do you have a pre-show or a post-show ritual that kind of re-centers you between shows?
01:31I do like to, before I come to the theater, do hot yoga.
01:34I get really warmed up.
01:36I do a complete 15-minute voice warm-up in the shower.
01:41It has to be done in the acoustics.
01:43And then I pray.
01:45And once I start doing my makeup, I start going into the zone.
01:49That's it.
01:50What is one show this season that you've especially been wowed by?
01:55I've been wowed by Sunset Boulevard.
01:57And I've been wowed by maybe Happy Ending.
01:59But I have to tell you, I was wowed by shows that didn't get nominated.
02:02Like Smash, I thought it was hilarious.
02:05I loved that show.
02:06I've been wowed by all the, I mean, Sunset and Gypsy.
02:11Certainly, Booth.
02:12I loved that, Booth.
02:14I loved it.
02:15I've got to go see Dead Outlaw.
