00:00Kristen Chenoweth here at the Tony Awards tonight.
00:03I have to tell you, my social media was blowing up when we got the first little glimpses of Queen of Versailles.
00:09Thank you. I'm so excited, Patrick.
00:13We've worked on it for five years, and I need to birth this baby.
00:19And after 22 years with Stephen Schwartz and getting to do something, it's very different for me.
00:25It's a very different piece.
00:26People think they're going to get wicked.
00:28You're not going to get wicked, so don't get disappointed.
00:30It's very different.
00:32But I think what it has to say is why I was interested.
00:35When Stephen called me and said, it's Queen of Versailles, the documentary about the Siegel family,
00:39I said, I don't know.
00:40But then we started talking and discussing and developing, and I'm excited.
00:44I was just speaking with Michael Arden earlier.
00:47My director.
00:47Yes, and he's thrilled as well.
00:49Who may win tonight.
00:51Fingers crossed, right?
00:53I mean, you know, I've known him as an actor.
00:56He was on a TV show I did called GCB, Good Christian Bitches, and he was fabulous.
01:02And we met then, and he said to me, I want to grow up and be a director.
01:05And I thought, oh, that's sweet.
01:06And look at him now.
01:07And look at him now.
01:08You've got a lot of people to support up there tonight.
01:11You've been in this industry for decades.
01:13What is it like to sit there and just know that you can root for pretty much anyone in any category?
01:17Because everybody is so good.
01:20I just want to be a sense of support and encouragement, especially in that leading lady category.
01:27That is a race.
01:29I mean, I saw Gypsy last night, Otter's Magnificent.
01:32I took Reba to see Sunset Boulevard.
01:37We died.
01:37We loved it.
01:38Loved it.
01:38Nicole is otherworldly.
01:41And I saw Boop two nights ago, and I fell in love with Jasmine.
01:45And then there's Death Becomes Her Girls, who are, you know, I helped develop that show early on.
01:50I was involved.
01:51And I just was so proud of what they did and how wonderful they are.
01:56Any one of those women could win, and it would be right.
