00:00Stepping into this film 30 years after the original, what was that like for you?
00:05Especially, you have such a powerful character.
00:08And I feel like stepping into those shoes, what was that like for you?
00:11A lot of pressure.
00:12You know, I'm a fan of the original.
00:14It meant a lot to me.
00:15So I think we all want to do justice telling this new part of the story.
00:19But it's also like Barry Jenkins is such an incredible director that anytime we got in the booth with him,
00:24he's like, check all that off.
00:26Just have fun and explore.
00:27And that's what I hope we did.
00:28So Robbie is a queen.
00:30So how did you tap into, like, how did you tell the story of her queendom
00:34that we may not have really got to see in the OG film?
00:37Yeah, I feel like we didn't get to know a lot about her in the original, right?
00:40We just know she's like perfect, and she's a perfect mother and perfect wife
00:45and this queen of the Pride Lands.
00:47But in this, we get to find out who she was before that
00:49and what's the journey that got her to that point.
00:52So it's fun to explore that.
00:54What did you learn about her that you want audiences to take away?
00:57I learned that she is feisty.
01:01That's a feisty lady right there.
01:03But she's also really sweet and vulnerable.
01:05And how did she kind of help her husband, Mufasa,
01:09as well as her son, Simba, along their journeys to kingship?
01:13Yeah.
01:14Well, I think behind every great man is an even better woman, right?
01:18And I think that's true with Sarabi.
01:20I think she is a supporter.
01:22I think she is honest with them.
01:25And I think she is loving.
01:27Yeah.
01:28And we go through three generations, right?
01:30So she's the queen, of course, but there's Mufasa, there's Simba,
01:34and now there's Kiara.
01:36So how does her wisdom kind of transcend through those three generations?
01:41Yeah, that's a great question.
01:42I feel like you can see her love passed down through the generations.
01:47I think, hey, Simba is a great father we get to see him as.
01:51And I think the love of a mother teaches you how to be a great parent, right?
01:56So I think that's part of it.
01:57My last question for you is,
01:59what do you want audiences to take away from this film?
02:03I really, most of all, just want people to have fun.
02:05I want them to revisit these characters they love for 30 years
02:09and see a different side of them and enjoy themselves.
02:11And wait, one more question.
02:13We're asking everyone, what was their favorite film of 2024?
02:16Challengers.
