Mia Goth shares her thoughts when director Guillermo del Toro presented 'Frankenstein' to her while chatting with THR at the premiere. Plus, she talks about the pressure she felt stepping into the role, saying she's "never been more scared," but it ultimately helped her performance.
00:00What did you think when Guillermo presented these multiple roles to you?
00:05Just that. Okay. I remember we met over an omelette. He shared with me the rough outline of the script at that time.
00:17He said, what do you think? Do you want to be a part of my movie? I was like, yeah. Do you want to play Claire too? Yeah.
00:23And then he gave me a fist bump and I said, okay, Guillermo, I'll see you soon. And that was how it began. It was amazing.
00:31Now, this is a dream project for him that he's been dreaming about making for a long time. Did that add any pressure for you?
00:37Yeah. So much pressure. I've never been more scared entering, stepping into a film. It was, it was, it was a lot.
00:48It's Guillermo del Toro making the movie that you've always wanted Guillermo del Toro to make.
00:53But, you know, after a while you have to just relent, you know, and you just have to let go and just use whatever it is that you're feeling.
01:03And I found that that feeling of pressure and helped the performance ultimately.
01:09Jacob plays the creature in this. What was he like on set? Was he more method keeping to himself or was he, you know, cracking jokes between takes?
01:16Hmm. He was just incredibly calm. He's very calm. There's a purity to him. There's, there's an innocence to him. Uh, you know, he didn't complain once.
01:30In the 56 days of, uh, prosthetics that he was, I didn't, I didn't hear him complain once. He was, like, the ultimate professional and he's done a really beautiful job.
01:41Coming up for you, you're stepping into the Star Wars universe. I know you can't say much, but did Oscar give you any advice?
01:47We did speak about it. We did. It was just fun. It was cool.
