00:00How are you?
00:01Good morning.
00:02Hi, good morning.
00:03How are you?
00:04Good, good.
00:05I'm happy to be here.
00:06This is a great event and I'm excited as always.
00:09Yeah, excited as always.
00:10It's a really powerful event.
00:12We're so happy you're here.
00:14We can only imagine that it's going to be powerful speeches from the stage again, especially
00:21in this year.
00:22What's been the most powerful thing for you to come out of the sexual harassment conversation
00:26over these past few months?
00:27Well, I think that any conversation about it is good conversation and that it's front
00:34and center in the zeitgeist.
00:35I think that it's kind of like other movements.
00:38It feels like it's a grassroots movement and it's a civil rights movement in a way.
00:44So I'm just, I'm happy that people are being heard, that women are being heard.
00:50And yeah, and I think it's a constantly evolving process.
00:54And, you know, I gotta say 2017 was a powerful year.
00:59It was a sad year.
01:00It was a great year.
01:01But also for Kate Walsh, it was a really cool year.
01:05You played, you know, you started one of the breakout phenomenons on Netflix with 13 Reasons Why,
01:11playing a very emotional, complicated, but a beautiful mother.
01:17And then also, too, you played like a rowdy publicist.
01:20So, you know, obviously you're...
01:21I know.
01:22I just got an email that Girls Trip got nominated for Best Comedy for Critics' Choice.
01:26Congratulations.
01:27And Tiffany, of course.
01:29That was really a beautiful thing to experience and witness.
01:32But yeah, I'm so thrilled.
01:33Well, then tell us about where you stand for the sequels to both of those shows,
01:38or for the show and the movie.
01:40What's going on for you?
01:42Well, we're finishing up season two of 13 Reasons Why now.
01:45And then, I don't know.
01:47I think they're planning on doing a sequel.
01:49I don't know if they'll bring Liz DiBelli back.
01:51I hope so.
01:52It would be really fun.
01:53But I am just thrilled.
01:56That, the success of that, first of all, the process for me was amazing.
02:00Working with Malcolm Lee and the women were also...
02:03Regina and Tiffany.
02:04Everybody was so beautiful.
02:06And the set was really fun.
02:08But also to go back and forth between Olivia Baker,
02:11which is like the heaviest thing I think I've probably ever played on 13 Reasons Why,
02:15and then Liz DiBelli on Girls Trip.
02:18That dichotomy was really kind of fun and challenging and awesome to do.
02:22But I'm just...
02:24To see that movie kill and just blow up the box office,
02:28it's such...
02:29For me, that's like the real joy.
02:31For me, that's...
02:32I feel like it's just the biggest thing ever, you know?
02:36It's such a great thing for women in film.
02:38And just to say, yeah, they can open.
02:40We can open a huge R-rated comedy.
02:42And it just keeps growing, the box office.
02:45So it makes me really, really happy.
02:47Well, congratulations on that.
02:49And then also, you know, a really powerful moment for you personally.
02:51You came forward and shared your medical journey.
02:56Oh, yeah.
02:57I know.
02:58That's right.
02:59Duh.
03:00Then there's that.
03:01Then there's that.
03:02Yeah, the brain tumor.
03:03How are you doing now?
03:04And what...
03:05I'm great.
03:06Thank you for asking.
03:07Yeah, it was...
03:08That was a pretty epic moment in my life.
03:09And there's definitely before...
03:10Like, I think anybody who has had any kind of big health scare,
03:13there's sort of before whatever it is, you know?
03:16Tumor, cancer, whatever, and after.
03:18So your whole life changes.
03:20Your perspective changes.
03:21Yeah.
03:22All of it.
03:23Well, you mentioned gratitude.
03:24We're so grateful you stopped and talked to us today.
03:26Thank you, I know.
03:27But hey, you know what?
03:28No, this was so great.
03:29And the only tragedy is I wish we could just sit down with you for breakfast.
03:32You have so much to talk about.
03:33Oh, you're so nice.
03:34And so hopefully we can do that at some point.
03:35You're very kind.
03:36Yeah.
03:37Enjoy our show.
03:39Take care.
03:40I'll see you soon.
03:41Bye.
03:42Bye.
03:43Bye.
