00:00I am taking the opportunity to just gift myself with a little bit more of my language.
00:06Regardless of whether or not I get to say it on stage, I won't have a sentiment of gratitude that
00:12I can carry forward the rest of my life in my language. Hi, I'm Lily Gladstone and I'm
00:16nominated for Best Actress for Killers of the Flower Moon.
00:19I was on the phone with my parents already. I was FaceTiming with them. You know, when the film
00:31premiered in LA and there were so many Osages on the carpet here at the Chinese Theater, I felt like
00:37maybe it was appropriate since I couldn't be there that I hold it down in Osage country for them.
00:41So I decided to do the same thing. I was on the Osage reservation in Pasco, Oklahoma,
00:46FaceTiming with my folks. And my mom had, you know, like you do, she was filming the TV so I could
00:53see when it came in. And I was like, no, mom, I can't read that. I can't see anything. Flip the
00:57camera around. So she was holding it up. And I got to learn about my nomination on my parents' faces,
01:03their reaction. Definitely going to have my family with me. It's, you know, my dad's been telling me
01:11since I was eight, nine years old that I would be here. And you know, you're a kid, you're like,
01:16okay, it's a platitude. Or you're just like, okay, you're right. You know, just,
01:21it's just kind of always been something he's lightly teased me about over the years. So it's
01:24just right that he's there. Same with my mom. No, I would really, I would really love it if the
01:29representation continues and we can bring some people in from the film from Osage country who
01:33actually, honestly, are already, so many are going to be there because I just share this historic
01:38nomination with Scott George, first Native American nominated for best original song from
01:43the Osage Nation. So I'm just happy to be sharing this moment with him and them, all of the singers.
01:52I've never had those moments where I just imagine what a speech would be. But I am taking the
01:58opportunity to just gift myself with a little bit more of my language. Think about a couple of things
02:06that I would want to say. A lot of the language revitalization effort back home. One thing that
02:11we kind of talk about is just writing a mantra for yourself or writing, um, writing a prayer or
02:17writing, um, just something that you want to be able to say. So I think regardless of whether or not
02:23I get to say it on stage, I won't have a sentiment of gratitude that I can carry forward the rest of my
02:29life in my language. So that's, that's one thing I'm working on. Best and most unexpected advice
02:37that I got was from my idol, um, Cate Blanchett's been my favorite actress since I've developed my
02:43own taste in film. And since I thought maybe film acting is what I wanted to do, the year that she
02:48was nominated for Elizabeth just blew my mind. And of course, like I was rooting for her so hard to
02:52win that year. You know, she and Philip Seymour Hoffman are my two. Those are the two actors that
02:57I've always just studied and hold to and watch everything that they've ever done. So, and Cate's
03:04been so incredibly generous through this whole period. She introduced the film in London and Leo and I
03:10were there. And while we were backstage, um, before she went out and just speaking all of these
03:15beautiful accolades about our movie, she, uh, gave me the advice to take my adaptogenic mushrooms
03:21to get through this season, which has been incredible advice. Cause you know, the, the nervous system
03:27needs a, needs a little extra help. Not the advice I expected to get from my favorite actress in the
03:32world, but it's very, very tangible, very actionable and very, uh, very beneficial.
03:40I'm going to sleep. I do have plans to go see Cat Power perform Bob Dylan on the 13th. So that's going to be
03:48my celebration. She's amazing. She's, um, she actually loves the film. She reached out to me,
03:55she slid into my DMs and we've been like, I mean, I love her. Every character I've played since I've
04:00been doing film, I have playlists and there's always Cat Power on my playlist. So yeah, that was,
04:07that's my little pre-gift to myself, you know, congratulations on getting through the campaign.
