00:00Sex and the City is officially returning to television. Original stars Sarah Jessica Parker,
00:16Kristen Davis, and Cynthia Nixon announced over the weekend on social media that their
00:21beloved HBO comedy will live on with a new chapter on HBO Max. The new series will be
00:26called, and just like that, a nod to the original series. It'll follow Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte
00:31as they navigate friendship in their 50s. Production on the series will begin in late
00:35spring in New York. The new Sex and the City is set to run for 10 episodes. Michael Patrick King,
00:40who won an Emmy for his work directing the series and wrote and directed both of its feature films,
00:45is returning to executive produce the new take along with Parker, Davis, and Nixon. Original
00:50series creator Darren Starr, who has a rich overall deal with ViacomCBS, is not involved. Unsurprisingly,
00:56fellow original star Kim Cattrall will also not be involved in the new HBO Max iteration of the
01:01series. The actress is openly feuded with Parker, and Moore in October of 2017 was vocal about seeing
01:06her part being recast in a bid to improve the original comedy's inclusivity. Sex and the City,
01:11based on the essays from Candace Bushnell, ran from 1998 to 2008 on HBO and took home the Emmy for
01:18Best Comedy Series in 2001, with stars Parker and Nixon also winning for their respective roles in 2004.
01:24The series also spawned two feature films in 2008 and 2010, as well as a two-season prequel series on
01:30the CW, The Carrie Diaries, starring Anna-Sophia Robb as a young Carrie Bradshaw. All six original
01:36seasons of Sex and the City are also currently streaming on HBO Max. For more on this story,
