The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) on Saturday (Nov 29) lifted its continuous rain warning for several states in Peninsular Malaysia as the weather improved.

This comes after heavy continuous rain warnings were issued after the emergence of tropical storm Senyar.

00:08for several states in peninsular Malaysia as the weather improved. They said the warnings
00:13for Kelantan, Perak, Selangor, Pahang, Negri Sembilan and Terengganu, as well as Kuala Lumpur
00:19and Putrajaya, had ended. They said based on weather model analysis, the situation was expected
00:26to improve and there was no potential for continuous rainfall. However, further checks
00:30showed that floodwaters had not receded much in parts of Terengganu, including Tamandesa Setia
00:36in Kuala Terengganu. Residents said proactive measures are needed to tackle the flood woes,
00:42including the installation of mobile water pump to extract stagnant water in the area during floods.
00:49They said the neighbourhood is located near the river and has been plagued by flood woes
00:53over the past 15 years. In Negri Sembilan, many flood victims returned to their homes to carry
00:59out clean-up work. Residents in Kampung, Jimalama, Port Dixon were helped by the local school volunteers.
01:06As of 4 pm, the number of flood evacuees stood at 33,526 people, with 298 temporary relief centers
01:15operating across 34 districts in 9 states. Terengganu remained the worst hit state, with 10,156
01:23evacuees at 110 relief centers, while Perak recorded 6,586 evacuees at 46 centers, and Perlis had 5,246 victims at 23 centers.
