00:00:00You've heard of the Festival of Lights, but do you know the fire that goes behind it?
00:00:06Hanukkah is more than just candles and dreidels.
00:00:09It's a battle cry of courage and a victory that still speaks to us today.
00:00:14This celebration was forged under oppression when Scripture was outlawed and faith was hunted.
00:00:21This feast survived because ordinary men and women refused to bow and become part of the world.
00:00:28Their courage was fierce, their resolve was unyielding, and their story reaches straight into your life today.
00:00:36Their story is fierce, gritty, and deeply relevant.
00:00:40My friend, it is time to light the lamp and see clearly.
00:00:44Stay tuned because this teaching will open your eyes to a feast you've only begun to understand.
00:00:58This episode or this teaching is going to be all about the feast day of Hanukkah,
00:01:15where it comes from, why or why you should not celebrate it as a believer in Yeshua nowadays,
00:01:21how to celebrate its various symbols and customs, of course, the food that goes along with it.
00:01:27It's going to be all that information packed into one little teaching.
00:01:33Probably not going to be short, so stick with me.
00:01:35We're also going to have a bunch of historical and a little bit of prophetic information in there as well.
00:01:41So definitely stick around for this so you can learn what Hanukkah is
00:01:44or even learn more about Hanukkah if you've already celebrated in the past.

00:02:38It should be down there in the description, all the same.
00:02:41Click on that, and it'll take you directly to the article post on our website
00:02:44where all that information is waiting for you to see it.
00:02:50Starting out with Hanukkah this year, I want to remind everyone that Hanukkah is,
00:02:55where it starts on December 14th at sunset and runs through December 22nd at sunset.
00:03:01So after you get done with this particular teaching, this particular episode,
00:03:05you'll be able to have all the information to celebrate Hanukkah,
00:03:09and you'll have enough time to get everything together and ready in order for your family
00:03:14to have a wonderful and joyous Hanukkah season and Hanukkah celebration.
00:03:20However, for this particular teaching, I do want to bring up a quick warning real quick.
00:03:26The content that we're going to be going over and discussing, especially the historical content,
00:03:31it can get rather graphic at some points, speaking about the whole occupation by the Greeks
00:03:39and all this other stuff, and what they did to the Judeans at that time.
00:03:44It can be rather graphic for some of the younger viewers.
00:03:49It's your family.
00:03:50You do you, but just wanted to put that warning out there before we actually get into it
00:03:55and all the information starts coming up.
00:03:57So you've been forewarned.
00:03:58So let's start with a backstory and get a little bit of foundational stuff leading up to the events
00:04:05that eventually created the story of Hanukkah.
00:04:09This is going to get into some of the prophetic stuff as well as some of the historical information as well.
00:04:14We're going to go back and look in the book of Daniel, which is in the Bible.
00:04:20You'll get that reference here in a minute, but Daniel chapter 7, verses 2 through 3 and verse 6.
00:04:26Now what's some of the imagery that you can see right there?
00:04:54In his vision, he's talking about four different beasts, but the one that we're in particular interested in
00:05:01is this one that looks like a leopard.
00:05:03Now this leopard that he's describing here in the book of Daniel says it has four different wings
00:05:08and it has four different heads.
00:05:12Now what is a head normally symbolized within the symbology of Scripture?
00:05:18Well, you think about what Paul writes in the book of Corinthians, especially 1 Corinthians,
00:05:25and he speaks of head as authority, as leader.
00:05:29And we even talk about that nowadays, talking about the head of the family being the husband
00:05:34or the head of an organization being the president or the CEO or whatever it is.
00:05:40So this head imagery has a lot to do with leadership.
00:05:44So keep that in mind in this prophetic vision, because these four particular heads,
00:05:50especially with this particular beast, the four heads of the leopard...
00:05:55Well, let's back up real quick.
00:05:58Before we get to the leopard, these four different beasts are four different empires
00:06:04or civilizations or kingdoms or nations that come up after this thing with Daniel.
00:06:10The first one that's described in this whole vision is a lion with eagles.
00:06:17I'm sorry, lion with eagles wings.
00:06:19And this is normally considered to relate to Babylon, which we know Babylon came up,
00:06:24did a lot of destructive things, was actually even used by Yahweh.
00:06:28But this was the first beast in Daniel's vision.
00:06:31The second one is like the imagery of a bear.
00:06:36And this is Persia.
00:06:38And, of course, Babylon...
00:06:41We'll get into that.
00:06:43But anyways, the second one generally relates to Persia, as most scholars, academics would conclude.
00:06:50The third one is the one we're interested in.
00:06:53And this is the one that looks like a leopard with four wings and four heads.
00:06:59If you're watching the video, you can actually see an image up there depicting four different leopard heads.
00:07:05But keep this in mind.
00:07:06Four heads.
00:07:08The number four is important.
00:07:09And also the head part, the leader part.
00:07:13And then finally, in Daniel's total vision, he envisions a fourth beast.
00:07:18And this is a beast with ten horns and has iron teeth.
00:07:21And this is generally understood to be the nation or the empire of Rome.
00:07:28Like I said, let's back up real quick.
00:07:30Just to keep this in mind, the one we're focusing on tonight is going to be that vision of the beast with the leopard-looking heads.
00:07:38And there are four of them.
00:07:39And this beast is generally understood to be the Greeks.
00:07:44Keep that in mind.
00:07:46Before the heads and the Greeks.
00:07:48This leads us into a discussion of Alexander the Great.
00:07:54Now, for those of you who don't know, Alexander the Great was a Greek, but he was a Macedonian Greek.
00:08:01And during that time, there was the era of city-states.
00:08:05There was no nations like with borders like we think of nowadays.
00:08:08But he was a Greek, and he was from Macedonia.
00:08:11So he's a Macedonian Greek.
00:08:13He is a tutor.
00:08:14And when he was a child, they didn't have public schools, stuff like that.
00:08:17But he had a personal tutor.
00:08:18And his tutor, up until the age of about 16, was the Aristotle.
00:08:25He becomes a very affluent family, and they're able to afford this.
00:08:28In fact, Alexander the Great, his father, was the king of Macedonia.
00:08:34And Alexander himself actually became king at a rather young age, somewhere about 20, when his father died.
00:08:41King Philip died.
00:08:42And there's lots of history that goes into what made up the life of Alexander and what motivated him and stuff like that, especially the Persians and previous attacks on Greece by the Persians.
00:08:56Anyways, by his death at the age of 32, Alexander the Great had conquered much of the known world, what they knew of at that time, and it created the largest empire to that date, which is fairly amazing, especially given the level of technology and things like that at the time.
00:09:16And the level of medicine and medical understanding and warfare, he actually did fairly well.
00:09:23And he wasn't all just bludgeoning them to death and killing them in order to conquer them.
00:09:28No, there was a lot of diplomacy that went into it as well.
00:09:30But he did create the largest empire up until his time.
00:09:35Just for reference, here is a quick map of the kingdom or the empire of Alexander the Great, stretching all the way from Macedonia over there on the left and Greece, all the way over into India and as far south as Egypt.
00:09:53He actually conquered Jerusalem and Israel and the northern part of Egypt, or what we know of as Egypt nowadays.
00:09:59He conquered a lot of territory, and there's a lot that goes into Alexander the Great, and if you ever get a chance to study him or do a class on Alexander the Great, I would highly recommend it.
00:10:12Because some of the events that happened in his life during his time really play into a lot of things within Scripture, especially Hanukkah, that we're going to learn about tonight, and other things as well,
00:10:25especially when he gets into the Semitic cultures and how their customs and culture clashed with the Greek customs and culture.
00:10:34The one that sticks out in my mind is the issue of proskinesis.
00:10:40That's another subject for another time.
00:10:42But, like I said, it's very interesting, and there's a lot of stuff that actually plays into the events and the subjects of Scripture.
00:10:49But here is a map of the empire of Alexander the Great.
00:10:53However, Alexander was a human, obviously, so he eventually died.
00:11:01And when he died, he had really no one single successor to come up and take the throne after him.
00:11:08He did have a son, but that gets really involved too.
00:11:12However, when Alexander the Great died, his kingdom, his empire, was divided up into four different sections and given to his four top generals.
00:11:24And here is roughly how that whole division came about or looked like at the time that Alexander died and everything got divided up amongst his generals.
00:11:38You have Ptolemy, the Seleucus, and, of course, two different other ones that took over Greece and Thrace, et cetera, et cetera.
00:11:47But you'll see here, the ones we want to focus on real quick is the Seleucid kingdom.
00:11:52If you look at this particular map here on your screen, you'll see the Seleucids or the Seleucid kingdom is actually north of Israel.
00:12:00It doesn't even come down to Israel.
00:12:03The Ptolemaic or Ptolemy kingdom has control of Israel at this particular point.
00:12:08But there were times that these particular kingdoms fought with each other and land was lost, land was gained, et cetera, et cetera.
00:12:20And eventually, the Seleucid kingdom came down and took over what we know of as Israel today, including Jerusalem and all that surrounding area.
00:12:29And that brings us back to Daniel's prophecy that we were discussing earlier.
00:12:34Daniel chapter 11, verses 29 and 31 through 32.
00:12:38And by flatteries, he shall profane those who do wrong against the covenant.
00:13:05But the people who know their Elohim shall be strong and shall act.
00:13:10This is a prophecy of the Seleucid kingdom coming down, taking over the area around Israel, including Israel and Jerusalem, all that, and doing these various things.
00:13:24So we saw from the map earlier that the Seleucid kingdom was up in the north.
00:13:27And here the prophecy is talking about the kingdom of the north shall return and go toward the south.
00:13:31And it says that he will do certain things.
00:13:34It says that he will profane the set apart place and take away that which is continual and set up the abomination that lays waste.
00:13:43By flatteries, he shall profane those who do wrong against the covenant.
00:13:47All these horrible things that this particular king is going to do.
00:13:54And then it goes on also in the same prophecy to say that the people who know their Elohim shall be strong and shall act.
00:14:02If you already know the story of Hanukkah, if you already know the story of Hanukkah, you can see exactly where all this is pointing to.
00:14:08But if you don't keep all this in mind, all the the king of the north coming down, the Seleucids coming down, doing all these horrible things like profaning the set apart place, take away that which is continual, set up the abomination that lays waste, flatters and et cetera, et cetera.
00:14:23Keep those two things in mind, as well as the third thing that the people who know their Elohim shall be strong and shall act.
00:14:34You take nothing else in your notes, write down those three points and remember that as we go through the rest of this particular teaching.
00:14:41At the beginning of the Seleucid Empire, you had pretty much Seleucid, Nikitor.
00:14:46And if you look on the screen here, there's the lineage that we're going to be talking about this evening that's relevant to our discussion this evening.
00:14:53But you start out with Seleucid, Nikitor.
00:14:55That's where the whole title of Seleucid Empire comes from.
00:14:59And it goes on down.
00:15:00Then you have Antiochus II, Soter, Antiochus II, Theos, Seleucius, II Kalinicus, et cetera, et cetera.
00:15:08And so we finally get down to the eighth generation.
00:15:12And this guy is named Antiochus IV Epiphanes.
00:15:17Keep that name in mind.
00:15:19And he's going to be a key player in the story of Hanukkah.
00:15:23But talking about Antiochus IV Epiphanes, his original name was actually Mithradates, which means given by Mithra.
00:15:32Okay, you've probably heard that name before, right?
00:15:35Well, Mithra was the sun god within Mithraism.
00:15:38And it's suspected that his birthday was on December 25th, even though it's not completely proven.
00:15:47We got into that a little bit last time or last week in our discussion on where December 25th, where the date of Christmas came from.
00:15:55However, Antiochus IV Epiphanes was originally named Mithradates, meaning given by Mithra.
00:16:03However, later on in life, he took the name Epiphanes or Antiochus IV Epiphanes.
00:16:08And Epiphanes means God manifest.
00:16:13Yep.
00:16:15It gets worse.
00:16:17That's just the beginning of it.
00:16:19He was the first Seleucid king to actually use divine designations on coins.
00:16:23And we'll get to that in just a minute.
00:16:24We'll actually show you one of the coins from Antiochus IV and what it has written on it.
00:16:30He was the first of the Seleucid kings to enforce Hellenization violently.
00:16:34Now, keep this in mind.
00:16:35A lot of times before this, the people or the kings would go in.
00:16:39They would conquer an area, but they wouldn't be really that violent and militant about enforcing customs and culture.
00:16:48They pretty much just said, you know, pay your taxes, give the men for the army.
00:16:52They keep the peace and we're good with everything else.
00:16:56So you got to keep your customs, your culture, your religion, stuff like that.
00:17:01But Antiochus IV, when he comes on the scene, he says, no, you're going to do like me.
00:17:06You're going to worship the gods that I worship.
00:17:08You're going to do the religious things that I do.
00:17:12I'm going to make you do it.
00:17:16If this happens to be or sound familiar, it really should, because this is not the first time it's happened.
00:17:23It's not the last time it's happened.
00:17:25In fact, there's a little lesser known edict by the Edict of Thessalonica that happened in 380.
00:17:33380 that comes to my mind right now.
00:17:36I wonder if anyone else catches or catches on to that.
00:17:40But he told everyone in his empire that they were going to be Greeks.
00:17:44They were going to be pagans with all the various gods and goddesses and Mithraism and stuff like that.
00:17:51And they were going to do these pagan things in pagan ways and reject their own customs that they already had.
00:17:59This didn't go over well with a lot of people, but we'll get to that in just a moment.
00:18:04Antiochus was also referred to by some of his contemporaries as Epimanes.
00:18:09You get the wordplay there, Epiphanes and Epimanes.
00:18:12And Epimanes means the mad one.
00:18:14And he might have been particularly crazy and nuts, according to his time.
00:18:23However, he didn't hold a candle to Caligula, who come later on, but not to get off on a tangent.
00:18:29Anyways, his contemporaries, people that lived during the same time as he and had the same station as Emperor High-Ranking and whatnot,
00:18:36they called him the mad one, Epimanes.
00:18:39But here's a coin of Antiochus IV Epiphanes.
00:18:42And you can see here on the back side, the pales, I guess you could call it.
00:18:47There is an inscription there in Greek, and it reads, Eos Epiphanes.
00:18:53And what that actually means is, God manifest.
00:18:58Now, again, he is a pagan, and he's got many gods.
00:19:03So, which particular god he's considering to be manifest, we don't really know.
00:19:09It might have been Mithra, whatever.
00:19:11But Antiochus, Epiphanes, Epiphanes meaning God manifest, and he even has that on his coins.
00:19:18So, that's a little bit about the backstory, some of the prophecy from Daniel that lines up with what we're talking about tonight.
00:19:25And we're also talking about the main antagonist of the Hanukkah story.
00:19:29So, you know who he is, the prophecy, the main antagonist.
00:19:33Now, let's get into the actual Hanukkah story itself.
00:19:38And the Hanukkah story, if you look in your Bible, especially a Protestant canon, you won't find it.
00:19:46Because it's not there.
00:19:48In fact, the Hanukkah story comes from a book called First Maccabees.
00:19:52And First Maccabees is not in the traditional Protestant canon.
00:19:57It's part of what we call the Apocrypha, or the Deutero canon, as some people call it.
00:20:05Some people, some groups and demographics have that in their particular canon, but not most Protestants that I know of.
00:20:12The Roman Catholics have the Apocrypha in their particular canon, including First and Second Maccabees.
00:20:21Other people have all four books of the Maccabees.
00:20:25Others have three books of the Maccabees.
00:20:28So, it just all depends on who you're talking about.
00:20:30But my background is from a mainstream Protestant background.
00:20:34So, I'm used to the Protestant canon of the Bible, which does not include Maccabees.
00:20:39So, just so you know, Maccabees is part of the Apocrypha.
00:20:45It's not in the Bible, which means it is not Scripture.
00:20:49Now, we can get into a whole discussion on whether it should or should not be in the Bible,
00:20:53but just let it be known as it stands right now.
00:20:55It is not in the standard Protestant canon of the Bible.
00:20:59We start reading in First Maccabees, chapter 1, verses 20 through 24.
00:21:04And Antiochus, after that he had smitten Egypt, returned in the hundred and forty and third year,
00:21:11and went up against Israel and Jerusalem with a great multitude,
00:21:16and entered presumptuously into the sanctuary, and took the golden altar,
00:21:20and the candlestick of the light, and all that pertained thereto,
00:21:25and the table of the shoebread, and the cups to pour withal,
00:21:28and the bowls, and the golden censers, and the veil, and the crowns,
00:21:32and the adorning of gold, which was on the face of the temple.
00:21:35And he scaled it all off, and he took the silver, and the gold, and the precious vessels,
00:21:40and he took the hidden treasures which he found.
00:21:43And when he had taken all, he went away into his own land,
00:21:47and he made a great slaughter, and spake very presumptuously.
00:21:50So Antiochus comes in, and he makes just a complete desecration of the temple.
00:21:57He takes the menorah, he takes the table of the shoebread,
00:22:01he takes the golden altar, the decorations that's on the outside,
00:22:05and he just carries it all off, presumably to put in his treasury,
00:22:11to enrich his own pocket, etc., etc.
00:22:15But it actually gets worse than that.
00:22:18That's horrible so far.
00:22:20But the desecration doesn't stop there.
00:22:25It gets even worse.
00:22:27In fact, it was against the law, according to this regime,
00:22:30to have a Torah, or even keep Torah, and the various things within it.
00:22:36We look at 1 Maccabees 1, verses 41-43.
00:22:41And King Antiochus wrote to his whole kingdom,
00:22:43that all should be one people, and that each should forsake his own laws.
00:22:49And all the nations agreed, according to the word of the king,
00:22:53and many of Israel consented to his worship,
00:22:56and sacrificed to the idols, and profaned the Sabbath.
00:23:00So some of the Judeans actually went along with this order.
00:23:05They went along with worshipping the pagan gods.
00:23:08They went along with not honoring and keeping the Sabbath.
00:23:12They kept other days, like the first day, or the third day, etc., etc.
00:23:16But they didn't keep the Sabbath of Yahweh.
00:23:19They did all these horrible things that these Seleucids and Antiochus IV were telling them to do,
00:23:25even though they were pagan things, completely contradictory to Scripture,
00:23:30and pretty much saved their own skins.
00:23:32Because during that time, if you did not go along with the regime,
00:23:36if you did not go along with those in power,
00:23:38your life really could be in danger.
00:23:41You could be killed.
00:23:44So it's getting worse, and it still gets worse, even after all this.
00:23:51Stay tuned. We're not done yet.
00:23:52We read in 1 Maccabees 1, verses 54-57.
00:24:22And as you look all throughout Scripture,
00:24:35it's the unrighteous, it's the pagans, it's the heathens, it's the Gentiles,
00:24:39that constantly keep coming against the Torah,
00:24:43against Scripture, against Shabbat, and all this other stuff.
00:24:47And they're trying to get rid of it.
00:24:50And they try to get rid of it through force, like with Antiochus.
00:24:54They try to get rid of it through mingling these pagan Gentile ways.
00:24:59But they just can't do it. It keeps on going.
00:25:01And this has a lot of relevance and a lot of connections with what's going on today
00:25:07and has been going on for the past 1700 years or so.
00:25:11But here, the people who had the Torah, if they were found with it,
00:25:17the Torah would be ripped up, they would be burnt,
00:25:22and even some of the people would be killed simply for having a Torah
00:25:26or studying or following the Torah.
00:25:29And then we go on to read in 1 Maccabees 1, verses 59-63.
00:25:35Pay attention right here. Check this out.
00:25:36And many in Israel were fully resolved and confirmed in themselves
00:26:03not to eat unclean things.
00:26:06And they chose to die, that they might not be defiled with the meats
00:26:10and that they might not profane the Holy Covenant.
00:26:13And they died.
00:26:15So these mothers who bore children, and they bore males, they bore sons,
00:26:21they, of course, according to Scripture, they loved Yahweh
00:26:25and they wanted to be obedient, so they circumcised their sons.
00:26:28And for doing that, these children were killed.
00:26:31These mothers were killed.
00:26:33And some of these young children that were killed,
00:26:36the Greeks would take and hang the dead bodies around the necks of the mothers.
00:26:42And it's, I mean, I told you, it gets gruesome.
00:26:45And there's lots of horrid accounts like that during this whole situation of the Greeks
00:26:52and especially Antiochus taking over and controlling militantly, violently,
00:26:57their helenization of the people they've conquered.
00:27:00And it's absolutely horrid.
00:27:04Now, some of the people, as you can see here, they did not conform.
00:27:07They did not comply with this order from the Seleucids, from Antiochus.
00:27:13And because they did not comply, yes, they were obedient to Yahweh,
00:27:17and they showed their love for Yahweh by doing what he told them to do.
00:27:20But it got them killed by Antiochus.
00:27:23Now, I'm confident they will be rewarded in the kingdom to come.
00:27:30But here on earth, by not complying with the king and instead following Yahweh,
00:27:37they became martyrs.
00:27:38And thank God for them.
00:27:43And thank God for the people like that that still exist today.
00:27:46We don't really know everything that we would do in certain situations like that.
00:27:52And hopefully we never have to find out.
00:27:54But we do know that people back then stood up.
00:27:58They kept the right path and they died because of it.
00:28:03But not everyone did that.
00:28:05In fact, some people, they went along with the, as we read earlier,
00:28:11they went along with this whole command by the Greeks to do these Hellenized things,
00:28:16these pagan ways and sacrifice upon pagan altars.
00:28:19And some of the Judeans even uncircumcised themselves.
00:28:25I am no doctor.
00:28:26I am no physician, a nurse or anything like that.
00:28:29I have zero idea how it is that you undo a circumcision.
00:28:34But apparently there's some of those that did during this time.
00:28:40And the Greeks went even so far as to do horrid, despicable things within the temple itself.
00:28:49Here you can see a picture of what is going on because they actually sacrificed a pig upon the altar.
00:28:57Inside the temple.
00:29:00Desecrating the holy place.
00:29:02We read in 1st Maccabees chapter 1 verses 13 through 15.
00:29:08And certain of the Judeans were forward herein and went to the king and he gave them license to do after the ordinances of the Gentiles.
00:29:16And they built a place of exercise in Jerusalem according to the laws of the Gentiles.
00:29:21And they made themselves uncircumcised and forsook the holy covenant and joined themselves to the Gentiles and sold themselves to do evil.
00:29:30So in the Brit Hadashah, in the aka New Testament, there is a certain passage that says we are to be in the world but not of the world.
00:29:43Now these particular Judeans that they're talking about here, they were making themselves of the world.
00:29:49We could not tell the difference between them and the Greeks.
00:29:52And according to what they do, what they eat, what they say, where they worship, etc., etc.
00:29:58So they forsook Yahweh.
00:30:01They forsook the law.
00:30:03And I guarantee it will not work out well for them in the end.
00:30:07So some people during this time and throughout all of history and every point in time did not have the spinal fortitude to stand up against such things.
00:30:17And they just went along with the program.
00:30:19In fact, the Apostle Paul in the Brit Hadashah warns us about doing such things as this.
00:30:25He says in 2 Peter 3, verse 17,
00:30:29You then, beloved ones, being forewarned, watch, lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away by the delusion of the lawless.
00:30:41Referring to those who do not have the law of Yahweh.
00:30:45Referring to those who do not follow the Torah of Yahweh, etc., etc.
00:30:49Antiochus IV and these Greeks did not have the Torah of Yahweh.
00:30:55They did not follow the Torah of Yahweh.
00:30:58And we can see some of the repercussions of them coming in and taking over the area of Jerusalem and Israel in general.
00:31:10But going on, we have now the setup in the background and what was going on with Hanukkah.
00:31:15And eventually, even if you know very little about Hanukkah, this is about a revolt and a revolution that came about and freed the Judeans from the grasp of these Greeks.
00:31:28And the revolt, the revolution, if you want to call it, starts in chapter 2 of 1 Maccabees.
00:31:34Read in 1 Maccabees 2, verses 17-25.
00:31:38And the king's officers answered and spoke to Mattathias, saying,
00:31:43Thou art a ruler and an honorable and great man in this city, and strengthened with sons and brethren.
00:31:49Now therefore come thou first and do the commandment of the king, as all the nations have done, and the men of Judah, and they that remain in Jerusalem.
00:31:58And thou and thy house shall be in the number of the king's friends, and thou and thy sons shall be honored with silver and gold and many gifts.
00:32:07And Mattathias answered and said with a loud voice,
00:32:11If all the nations that are in the house of the king's dominion hearken unto him,
00:32:16to follow away each one from the worship of his fathers, and have made choice to follow his commandments,
00:32:22yet will I and my sons and my brethren walk in the covenant of our fathers.
00:32:28Heaven forbid that we should forsake the law and the ordinances.
00:32:31We will not hearken to the king's words, to go aside from our worship, on the right hand or on the left.
00:32:38And when he had left speaking these words, there came a Jew in the sight of all to sacrifice on the altar,
00:32:45which was at Modin, according to the king's commandment.
00:32:49And Mattathias saw it, and his zeal was kindled, and his reins trembled,
00:32:54and he shewed forth his wrath, according to judgment, and ran and slew him upon the altar.
00:33:00And the king's officer, who compelled men to sacrifice, he killed at that time and pulled down the altar.
00:33:07So, Mattathias is one of the protagonists of the Hanukkah story,
00:33:12and here, one of Antiochus' soldiers, generals, or officers, is really flattering,
00:33:20or trying to butter up Mattathias.
00:33:22He sees that Mattathias is some sort of leader in his own right,
00:33:26and he's trying to butter him up, saying that he'll have all this wealth,
00:33:29he'll be friends with the king, he'll have, you know, good connections,
00:33:34been networking, and it'll be good for him.
00:33:38He'll have all these benefits.
00:33:39But Mattathias may have none of it.
00:33:42He says, nope, even if everyone else does it,
00:33:45me and mine will follow and be obedient to Yahweh,
00:33:49regardless of what the king says, or what the king's commandment is.
00:33:55And no sooner than he gets done saying that,
00:33:57or at least that's the way it's laid out in this particular translation,
00:34:02no sooner than he gets done saying that,
00:34:03then one of his fellow Judeans comes to do a sacrifice on the pagan altar.
00:34:08And this enrages Mattathias, and so he goes off in his anger toward his passion
00:34:16for being righteous, and he kills this Judean that was doing this pagan sacrifice.
00:34:24And he doesn't stop there.
00:34:26He goes on to tear down the pagan altar and to kill Antiochus' officer,
00:34:30and that begins the revolt and the Maccabean revolt, the story of Hanukkah.
00:34:38And they go on from that time to eventually defeat the Greeks that are occupying Israel during that period.
00:34:46And it's very miraculous.
00:34:50And this is the true miracle, anyways, the verified miracle of Hanukkah.
00:34:56The people that were revolting against the Greeks were very small in number.
00:35:00They did not have the latest weapons and armor and all that stuff,
00:35:04and they didn't have the manpower, the numbers that the Greeks did.
00:35:07But they still came out and won.
00:35:10And this is all due to the grace and the power and the might of Yahweh looking down upon his people
00:35:18and helping them out regardless of the number of the enemy.
00:35:21It does not matter when Yahweh is on your side and you are obedient and doing righteous things
00:35:26the way Yahweh wants us to do them.
00:35:29Yahweh will be on your side.
00:35:31And Hanukkah is a wonderful story about just that,
00:35:35about the power and the majesty of Yahweh delivering his faithful and righteous people.
00:35:44It's absolutely amazing.
00:35:46But Hanukkah isn't just left back in the book of Maccabees.
00:35:50Hanukkah actually has connections to the Brit Hadashah and Yeshua himself.
00:35:56Let's look at that real quick.
00:35:57There are, like I said, connections and more than just one,
00:36:01even though we've only got just one section in the Brit Hadashah.
00:36:05So stay with me during this.
00:36:07We look at John chapter 10, verses 22 to 23.
00:36:12At that time, the Hanukkah came to be in Yerushalayim, and it was winter,
00:36:18and Yeshua was walking in the set-apart place in the porch of Shilomo.
00:36:22Now, in various different translations, this word is spelled and translated in different ways.
00:36:31In the King James Version, in the English Standard Version,
00:36:34it has, at that time, the dedication came to be in Yerushalayim, or Jerusalem.
00:36:41In the Scriptures 2009, which I just read to you,
00:36:44in the Tree of Life Version and others, it has the word Hanukkah.
00:36:47At that time, the Hanukkah came to be in Yerushalayim.
00:36:53In the Goodspeed Translation, 20th Century Translation, etc., etc.,
00:36:57it has the word rededication.
00:36:59At that time, the rededication came to be in Jerusalem.
00:37:03And finally, in the Etheridge Translation, it has renovation.
00:37:07At that time, the renovation came to be in Jerusalem.
00:37:10But it's all hearkening back to this feast day of Hanukkah.
00:37:14And Hanukkah actually means dedication, or in this context, more accurately, re-dedication.
00:37:23So the word Hanukkah or rededication, at least in my opinion and what education I've got,
00:37:30Hanukkah or rededication would actually be the more accurate terms to use for this particular feast day.
00:37:37But anyways, we see here this word Hanukkah and his Strong's number G1456,
00:37:44if that's something you're interested in.
00:37:48And amazingly enough, this is the only time in all of the Brit Hadashah
00:37:54that this word, this Greek word, is you.
00:37:58We'll get to that in just a minute.
00:37:59I've actually looked that up and put it up here for you.
00:38:02And I'll show that to you from the concordances and dictionaries here in just a moment.
00:38:06But some points and things to think about and consider as far as Hanukkah and Yeshua relate to each other.
00:38:13Number one, you see Yeshua here at the temple on the porch of Solomon during the time of Hanukkah.
00:38:21Well, why is that important?
00:38:22Does that mean that Yeshua was keeping and observing and celebrating Hanukkah?
00:38:27Well, most likely, yes.
00:38:30More than likely, it does.
00:38:33Think about it.
00:38:34If Yeshua, when you read through the Brit Hadashah,
00:38:37Yeshua is most of the time out in the countryside.
00:38:40He's in the fields with his disciples,
00:38:43and they're picking wheat and irritating the Jews, or the Pharisees, rather.
00:38:48And he's on hilltops giving sermons.
00:38:51He's on mountainsides giving sermons.
00:38:52He's on boats with fishermen or on the seashore.
00:38:55Or he's out and about preaching, healing, and all this other stuff.
00:39:01That's where he spends most of his time.
00:39:03So when he comes in to Jerusalem, comes into the temple,
00:39:08it's usually for special occasions.
00:39:10He comes in for Passover, like we saw, or yeah, we see with his crucifixion during the time of his death,
00:39:18as well as other times as well.
00:39:19So he comes in for the high days, like the Moedim.
00:39:25And you can see here, he comes in for a feast day, like Hanukkah.
00:39:30So he made a special effort to break away from the normal,
00:39:35and to come up to the temple at this particular time.
00:39:39And I think, at least in my opinion, he did this because he was celebrating Hanukkah.
00:39:44We know that Hanukkah, during this time, was being celebrated by the Judeans of that era.
00:39:52So it would be something that Yeshua would have known about,
00:39:56and that he would have come into contact with.
00:39:58And during his three and a half years of ministry that was described in the Brit Hadashah,
00:40:04we never see Yeshua speaking out against it.
00:40:08And Yeshua had zero qualms about setting the Pharisees straight,
00:40:13or the Sadducees even, or whoever it was.
00:40:16He had no issues setting them straight and telling them.
00:40:20A lot of times, it usually hinged around them and their traditions,
00:40:24and the traditions of their elders, and et cetera, et cetera.
00:40:28And a lot of people say nowadays that Hanukkah is just a tradition of Judaism, stuff like that.
00:40:35But Yeshua did not set them straight on Hanukkah,
00:40:38and he was there at the temple on a special occasion that was Hanukkah.
00:40:43He didn't say anything about it setting them straight,
00:40:46so we can take that into account as well.
00:40:49And there's a lot of things that go into it.
00:40:53Yes, the scriptures does not specifically say that Yeshua celebrated Hanukkah.
00:40:59But we can get all the information together, and it's all circumstantial, I agree.
00:41:05But all this information put together, in at least my mind,
00:41:08leads to the conclusion that yes, Yeshua did celebrate and attend Hanukkah celebrations.
00:41:15But for my other nerds out there, like myself, here is that word that is used in John,
00:41:23and that is Strong's G1456.
00:41:26That's Strong's G1456, and it is pronounced, hopefully I get this right,
00:41:31Egkaina, Egkainia.
00:41:34I'm not even going to try it again because it's probably butchered.
00:41:37But in the outline of biblical usage, again, it only occurs one place in scripture.
00:41:42But in the outline of biblical usage, it has it defined as dedication or consecration,
00:41:47specifically the annual feast celebrated,
00:41:49eight days instituted by Judas Maccabeus in memory of the cleansing of the temple.
00:41:54Strong's definition has it as renewal of religious services
00:41:59after the Antiochian interruption, dedication.
00:42:02Stager's Greek lexicon has it defined as dedication, consecration.
00:42:07In particular, an annual feast celebrated,
00:42:09eight days instituted by Judas Maccabeus
00:42:12in memory of the cleansing of the temple
00:42:14from the pollutions of Antiochus Epiphanes.
00:42:18This one word relating to all that
00:42:20is only used one time in all of the British Hadesha.
00:42:26Going on looking at the Greek-English lexicon of the New Testament,
00:42:29it has it defined as
00:42:30festival commemorating the rededication of the temple
00:42:33in the time of Judas Maccabeus,
00:42:35the festival of dedication of the temple,
00:42:38and the BDAG, which is, you know,
00:42:41pretty well-renowned amongst especially seminary students.
00:42:45But BDAG has it defined as festival of rededication,
00:42:49also known as Annika and the Feast of Lights,
00:42:53to commemorate the purification and rededication
00:42:55of the temple by Judas Maccabeus.
00:42:57This one word, it doesn't mean just simply dedication.
00:43:03It doesn't mean, you know, simply wintertime,
00:43:06something general like that.
00:43:07No, it means something specific,
00:43:10and it means specifically the feast or the festival of Hanukkah.
00:43:16There's a certain prophetic connection
00:43:17between Hanukkah, Yeshua, and the end times as well.
00:43:23Now, we can see that in the end times,
00:43:25for those of you who know anything about eschatology,
00:43:28and I'm no eschatology buff.
00:43:31That's something that's never drew my interest.
00:43:34But there's a little bit I know,
00:43:35and if you're like me,
00:43:37you know these basic things right here.
00:43:39Number one, the Antichrist will come forth,
00:43:41and we will see and face great tribulations.
00:43:45It does tell us that.
00:43:46And this relates to Hanukkah,
00:43:49because the Judeans,
00:43:50during the time of the occupation of the Greeks,
00:43:53suffered great tribulations.
00:43:57In the end times,
00:43:58Yeshua, from the tribe of Judah,
00:44:01will defeat the Antichrist.
00:44:04Not only is Yeshua from the tribe of Judah,
00:44:07but he's also from the southern kingdom of Judea,
00:44:10and who is the people group associated with the story of Hanukkah?
00:44:17It's the southern kingdom of Judea,
00:44:19the Judeans.
00:44:20And Yeshua, from the tribe of Judea,
00:44:22will defeat the Antichrist in the end time,
00:44:24just like the Judeans,
00:44:26during the story of Hanukkah,
00:44:28defeated the Antichrist of their time,
00:44:31which was Antiochus IV Epiphany.
00:44:34The new temple,
00:44:35the new earth,
00:44:36and new Jerusalem,
00:44:37will be dedicated.
00:44:39And what does Hanukkah mean?
00:44:40It means dedication,
00:44:42or re-dedication.
00:44:45Now that's all coming together,
00:44:47how those connections are being made.
00:44:49But keep all that in mind,
00:44:51meditate on it,
00:44:51think about it.
00:44:52It's really,
00:44:54at least I find it kind of neat and interesting.
00:44:57Hopefully that's some information
00:44:58that maybe you hadn't thought of before,
00:45:00but now you have it in front of you.
00:45:02And if you have any more
00:45:03possible connections
00:45:05between Yeshua and Hanukkah
00:45:07and the end times,
00:45:09by all means,
00:45:10please send that to us.
00:45:11Put it down in the comments.
00:45:12Find some way of getting it to us
00:45:13so we can add it to our notes
00:45:15and so that other people
00:45:16will be enlightened
00:45:17and educated even further
00:45:19in their walk
00:45:20and we all grow together.
00:45:22Iron sharpening iron.
00:45:23So send it to us
00:45:24if you have any other information to add.
00:45:27Now,
00:45:28some things to note
00:45:29as we can take
00:45:32all this into account
00:45:33and think about it.
00:45:34Number one,
00:45:36there are some people out there,
00:45:40just in general,
00:45:41no one specifically,
00:45:42but there are some people out there
00:45:43who say that the story of Hanukkah
00:45:45didn't actually happen.
00:45:47So did the story of Hanukkah
00:45:49really happen?
00:45:51Let's look at 1 Maccabees 4,
00:45:53verses 56 and 59.
00:45:56And they kept the dedication
00:45:58of the altar eight days
00:45:59and offered burnt offerings
00:46:01with gladness
00:46:01and sacrificed
00:46:02a sacrifice of deliverance
00:46:04and praise.
00:46:05And Judas and his brethren
00:46:06and the whole congregation
00:46:07of Israel
00:46:08ordained that the days
00:46:10of the dedication
00:46:10of the altar
00:46:11should be kept
00:46:12in their seasons
00:46:13from year to year
00:46:14by the space of eight days
00:46:16from the five and twentieth day
00:46:17of the month,
00:46:18Kislev,
00:46:19with gladness and joy.
00:46:20One of the things
00:46:23they point to
00:46:24to say that Hanukkah
00:46:26didn't actually happen
00:46:27or the story
00:46:29in the book of Maccabees
00:46:29didn't actually happen
00:46:30is that the book of Maccabees
00:46:33never relates
00:46:34the story of the oil
00:46:37lasting for eight days.
00:46:39And you don't get that.
00:46:40You look in the book
00:46:41of 1 Maccabees,
00:46:42you look in the book
00:46:43of 2 Maccabees even,
00:46:45and you do not get the story
00:46:46of the oil
00:46:48lasting for eight days.
00:46:51Now,
00:46:52we'll talk about that
00:46:53in just a minute.
00:46:54But another aspect
00:46:55is that
00:46:57they say it doesn't happen,
00:46:59but we know
00:46:59historically
00:47:00it actually did happen.
00:47:01We have external sources
00:47:02that come up
00:47:03and back that up,
00:47:04which I should have
00:47:05put in here,
00:47:05but I did not.
00:47:06I do apologize for that.
00:47:08We have external evidence
00:47:10to verify that
00:47:11this actually
00:47:12did happen.
00:47:13Now,
00:47:13you can give your
00:47:14varying reasons
00:47:15as to why they
00:47:16eventually ended up
00:47:18winning over
00:47:18against the Greeks
00:47:19and a superior force
00:47:21with superior technology
00:47:23and warfare
00:47:24and all this other stuff.
00:47:25You can give reasons
00:47:26of your own
00:47:26for why that actually happened,
00:47:28but we do know
00:47:30that it did happen.
00:47:32The Judeans
00:47:32overthrew
00:47:33the occupation
00:47:35by the Greeks.
00:47:38So,
00:47:39that's,
00:47:40historically speaking,
00:47:41we know it actually
00:47:42did happen,
00:47:42but speaking of the oil,
00:47:44even,
00:47:45well,
00:47:45like we said,
00:47:45in 1st and 2nd Maccabees,
00:47:46you don't get
00:47:47the story of the oil,
00:47:48and even with the
00:47:49recounting of Josephus,
00:47:50we don't get the story
00:47:51of the oil.
00:47:53We look at
00:47:54Josephus
00:47:55and his writings,
00:47:56the Jewish war,
00:47:58quote,
00:47:59Now Judas
00:48:00celebrated the festival
00:48:01of the restoration
00:48:02of the sacrifices
00:48:03of the temple
00:48:04for eight days
00:48:05and omitted
00:48:06no sort of pleasures
00:48:07thereon.
00:48:08But he feasted them
00:48:09upon very rich
00:48:11and splendid sacrifices
00:48:12and honored God
00:48:13and delighted them
00:48:15by hymns and psalms.
00:48:17Nay,
00:48:17they were so very glad
00:48:18at the revival
00:48:19of their customs
00:48:20when after a long time
00:48:22of intermission,
00:48:23they unexpectedly
00:48:24had regained
00:48:25the freedom
00:48:25of their worship,
00:48:26that they made it
00:48:27a law for their posterity,
00:48:29that they should
00:48:30keep a festival
00:48:31on account
00:48:31of the restoration
00:48:32of their temple worship
00:48:34for eight days.
00:48:35And from that time
00:48:36to this,
00:48:37we celebrate this festival
00:48:38and call it lights.
00:48:41I suppose the reason was
00:48:42because this liberty
00:48:44beyond our hopes
00:48:45appeared to us
00:48:46and that thence
00:48:47was the name
00:48:48given to the festival,
00:48:50end quote.
00:48:52So we see from Josephus
00:48:54that Judas Maccabeus
00:48:56instituted this feast
00:48:59of Hanukkah,
00:49:00this festival of Hanukkah
00:49:01and the Judas,
00:49:02I'm sorry,
00:49:02Josephus also refers
00:49:04to it as the festival
00:49:05of lights.
00:49:07But he doesn't say
00:49:08it's called the festival
00:49:09of lights
00:49:09because of the miracle
00:49:10of oil.
00:49:11No,
00:49:11he says that it was,
00:49:13he supposes the reason
00:49:14was because their liberty
00:49:15beyond our hopes
00:49:16appeared to us
00:49:17and that thence
00:49:18the name was given
00:49:19to that festival.
00:49:20Beyond all their hopes,
00:49:21they won.
00:49:22And that's why
00:49:22it's called the festival
00:49:23of lights
00:49:24according to Josephus.
00:49:26So we've got,
00:49:28we read in 1 Maccabees,
00:49:30we read in Josephus
00:49:31and we know
00:49:32that the festival
00:49:33of Hanukkah
00:49:33lasts for eight days,
00:49:35but we've also seen
00:49:37no evidence
00:49:38for this story
00:49:39of the oil
00:49:40that lasted
00:49:41for eight days.
00:49:42So why,
00:49:43if it's not because
00:49:43of the miracle
00:49:44of oil,
00:49:45why is the festival
00:49:47of Hanukkah
00:49:47eight days then?
00:49:49We can actually
00:49:50find a clue
00:49:51to that
00:49:51in the book
00:49:52of 2 Maccabees.
00:49:54We look in 2 Maccabees
00:49:55chapter 10
00:49:56verses 5 through 8.
00:49:58Now pay attention
00:49:58to this
00:49:59and see if you catch it.
00:50:01Now on the same day
00:50:02that the sanctuary
00:50:03was profaned
00:50:04by aliens
00:50:04upon that very day
00:50:05did it come to pass
00:50:06that the cleansing
00:50:07of the sanctuary
00:50:08was made
00:50:09even on the 5
00:50:10and 20th day
00:50:11of the same month
00:50:12which is Kislev.
00:50:13And they kept
00:50:14eight days
00:50:15with gladness
00:50:15in the manner
00:50:16of the feast
00:50:17of Tabernacles
00:50:18remembering how
00:50:19that not long
00:50:20before during
00:50:21the feast
00:50:22of Tabernacles
00:50:22they were wandering
00:50:24in the mountains
00:50:24and in the caves
00:50:25after the manner
00:50:26of wild beasts.
00:50:28Wherefore bearing
00:50:29wands wreathed
00:50:30with leaves
00:50:30and fair bows
00:50:32and palms also
00:50:33they offered up
00:50:34hymns of thanksgiving
00:50:35to him that had
00:50:36prosperously brought
00:50:38to pass
00:50:38the cleansing
00:50:39of his own place.
00:50:40They ordained also
00:50:41with a common statute
00:50:43and decree
00:50:44for all the nation
00:50:46of the Judeans
00:50:47that they should
00:50:47keep these days
00:50:48according to
00:50:522nd Maccabees
00:50:53the reason
00:50:54that Hanukkah
00:50:55lasts for eight days
00:50:57is because of
00:50:57the Feast of Tabernacles
00:50:59Sukkot
00:51:00and how long
00:51:01does that last?
00:51:02We know it lasts
00:51:02for seven days
00:51:04with a great day
00:51:04the eighth day
00:51:05being the last day
00:51:07so the
00:51:08festival
00:51:09or the Feast of Sukkot
00:51:10the
00:51:11sorry
00:51:13the Feast of Tabernacles
00:51:14or Sukkot
00:51:15lasts for eight days
00:51:16and they modeled
00:51:17Hanukkah
00:51:17after that
00:51:18because they hadn't
00:51:19got to celebrate it
00:51:20properly
00:51:20during the time
00:51:22that they were
00:51:22in the wilderness
00:51:23hiding and fighting
00:51:24against the Greeks
00:51:25so instead
00:51:27when they rededicated
00:51:28the temple
00:51:29they did eight days
00:51:30after the manor
00:51:32of Sukkot
00:51:33and that's the real reason
00:51:35why Hanukkah
00:51:36lasts for eight days
00:51:37the story of the oil
00:51:38doesn't come in
00:51:40until much
00:51:41much later
00:51:42in fact
00:51:42the story
00:51:43the first evidence
00:51:44we have
00:51:45of the story
00:51:46of the miracle
00:51:46of the oil
00:51:47doesn't even
00:51:48come into
00:51:48existence
00:51:50until
00:51:50about the
00:51:51second century
00:51:52of the common era
00:51:54we read
00:51:55in the
00:51:55scroll of Antiochus
00:51:57and this is not
00:51:58Antiochus IV
00:51:59this is just
00:51:59the name
00:52:00given to the scroll
00:52:01we read
00:52:02in the scroll
00:52:03of Antiochus
00:52:04which was
00:52:04probably written
00:52:05about the second
00:52:06century of the common era
00:52:07quote
00:52:08and they sought
00:52:09pure olive oil
00:52:10with which to
00:52:11light the menorah
00:52:12but they found
00:52:13only one little vessel
00:52:14sealed with the seal
00:52:16of the high priest
00:52:16and they knew
00:52:17it to be pure
00:52:18and it contained
00:52:19but sufficient oil
00:52:20for one day
00:52:21but the God of heaven
00:52:23who caused his presence
00:52:24to dwell in the sanctuary
00:52:25gave his blessing
00:52:26and it sufficed
00:52:27to light the menorah
00:52:28eight days
00:52:29therefore did the sons
00:52:31of the Hashmoni
00:52:32together with the Israelites
00:52:34ordain
00:52:34that these eight days
00:52:36be ever celebrated
00:52:37as days of joy
00:52:38and feasting
00:52:39along with the festivals
00:52:40ordained in the Torah
00:52:41that candles be lit
00:52:43to commemorate
00:52:44the victory
00:52:45they achieved
00:52:46through the God
00:52:46of heaven
00:52:47that it be forbidden
00:52:48to mourn
00:52:49or to decree
00:52:50a fast day
00:52:51during this period
00:52:52except such
00:52:53as may have been
00:52:54established previously
00:52:55and it was further
00:52:56ordained to pray
00:52:57and thank God
00:52:58end quote
00:52:59this is the first
00:53:01evidence that we get
00:53:02of the miracle
00:53:04of the oil
00:53:05but
00:53:06does it really matter
00:53:08I mean it's not
00:53:10something
00:53:10extraordinary
00:53:12like people
00:53:14flying around
00:53:15without the use
00:53:15of wings
00:53:16or
00:53:16chopped up kids
00:53:18coming back to life
00:53:19by some
00:53:20saint
00:53:22and
00:53:22you know
00:53:23that was a past episode
00:53:25by the way
00:53:25no it's nothing
00:53:27like that
00:53:28I mean
00:53:28we read in scripture
00:53:29you have
00:53:30all these great miracles
00:53:31of Yahweh
00:53:32that happened
00:53:33you have the
00:53:33plagues of Egypt
00:53:34that happened
00:53:35you have the parting
00:53:36of the Red Sea
00:53:36etc etc
00:53:38you have all these
00:53:39other great
00:53:40and wonderful
00:53:40and miraculous
00:53:41things that happened
00:53:42how big of a stretch
00:53:44would it be
00:53:45for oil
00:53:46to last for eight days
00:53:47it wouldn't
00:53:49that's nothing
00:53:50in comparison
00:53:51to some of the
00:53:52other miracles
00:53:52that have been
00:53:53wrought by Yahweh
00:53:54so there's
00:53:55no reason to
00:53:57say that it
00:53:58couldn't have happened
00:53:59but there's no
00:54:01actual evidence
00:54:02to show
00:54:03that it did happen
00:54:04we don't have it
00:54:05from the books
00:54:05of Maccabees
00:54:06we don't have it
00:54:07from the writings
00:54:07of Josephus
00:54:08so it's not
00:54:09a big stretch
00:54:10we just don't
00:54:10have evidence
00:54:11that it actually
00:54:11did happen
00:54:12however
00:54:13there's a lot
00:54:14of things
00:54:14that come about
00:54:15because of that
00:54:15we have the
00:54:16lighting of the
00:54:17candles
00:54:18supposedly in
00:54:20commemoration
00:54:21of the oil
00:54:22that lasted
00:54:22in the menorah
00:54:23for eight days
00:54:24we also have
00:54:25fried foods
00:54:26yay
00:54:26here in
00:54:28southern America
00:54:29that's something
00:54:29that we like
00:54:30we like fried
00:54:30stuff
00:54:31so that's
00:54:31good in our
00:54:32book
00:54:33and that's
00:54:34where the
00:54:35theme of
00:54:35fried foods
00:54:35comes from
00:54:36during Hanukkah
00:54:37is because
00:54:37of this
00:54:38miracle
00:54:38of the oil
00:54:39so there's
00:54:41all that
00:54:42in a nutshell
00:54:42as far as
00:54:43where the oil
00:54:44story comes from
00:54:45and the actual
00:54:46story of Hanukkah
00:54:47etc etc
00:54:48some things to
00:54:49consider though
00:54:49real quick
00:54:50is you start
00:54:51thinking about
00:54:52where Hanukkah
00:54:53comes from
00:54:54it comes not
00:54:55from a book
00:54:56of the Bible
00:54:56but actually
00:54:56comes from
00:54:57a book in
00:54:58the Apocrypha
00:54:59and it actually
00:54:59did happen
00:55:00as a true
00:55:01story
00:55:01it's a
00:55:02celebration
00:55:03of the
00:55:05power and
00:55:05majesty
00:55:06and protection
00:55:07of Yahweh
00:55:08over those
00:55:09who are
00:55:10obedient and
00:55:10righteous
00:55:11so when you
00:55:13take all this
00:55:13into account
00:55:14and
00:55:15you start
00:55:16thinking
00:55:17and one of
00:55:18the questions
00:55:18you come up
00:55:19with is
00:55:20is it wrong
00:55:20to celebrate
00:55:22Hanukkah
00:55:22or should we
00:55:23celebrate Hanukkah
00:55:24and when
00:55:26thinking about
00:55:27this in
00:55:28pretty much
00:55:28any tradition
00:55:29or holiday
00:55:30in general
00:55:31we need to
00:55:32ask ourselves
00:55:33does it come
00:55:34from the Bible
00:55:35does it go
00:55:36against the Bible
00:55:37does it come
00:55:38from paganism
00:55:40those three
00:55:41questions will
00:55:42generally lead
00:55:43you to
00:55:44a good
00:55:47well hopefully
00:55:48you make the
00:55:49right decision
00:55:49but
00:55:49asking those
00:55:51three questions
00:55:51will give you
00:55:51a good place
00:55:52to head
00:55:53toward and
00:55:54come from
00:55:54but with
00:55:55Hanukkah
00:55:56does it come
00:55:56from the
00:55:57Bible
00:55:57well not
00:55:58really
00:55:58it comes
00:55:58from the
00:55:59Apocrypha
00:55:59right
00:55:59does it go
00:56:01against the
00:56:01Bible
00:56:01no there's
00:56:03nothing
00:56:03about Hanukkah
00:56:05that would
00:56:05contradict the
00:56:06teachings of
00:56:06the Bible
00:56:07there's nothing
00:56:07in the Bible
00:56:08that says
00:56:08do not
00:56:09celebrate
00:56:09Hanukkah
00:56:10number three
00:56:12does it come
00:56:12from paganism
00:56:13no Hanukkah
00:56:14comes from
00:56:16a battle
00:56:16against
00:56:17paganism
00:56:18actually
00:56:19and a celebration
00:56:20of the power
00:56:21and might
00:56:21of Yahweh
00:56:22so there's
00:56:23nothing there
00:56:24that would
00:56:25exclude it
00:56:25it doesn't
00:56:26come from
00:56:26the Bible
00:56:26but it
00:56:27doesn't go
00:56:27against the
00:56:28Bible
00:56:28and it
00:56:29does not
00:56:30come from
00:56:30pagan sources
00:56:31so take
00:56:32all that
00:56:32into account
00:56:33when you're
00:56:33thinking
00:56:33is it wrong
00:56:35to celebrate
00:56:35Hanukkah
00:56:36or should
00:56:36we as a
00:56:37family
00:56:38your family
00:56:38celebrate
00:56:39Hanukkah
00:56:39and also
00:56:41something else
00:56:42to ask
00:56:42how is
00:56:43celebrating
00:56:43Hanukkah
00:56:44different
00:56:44from celebrating
00:56:45Christmas
00:56:45and Easter
00:56:46I mean
00:56:47Christmas
00:56:47and Easter
00:56:47aren't
00:56:48really
00:56:49in the
00:56:49Bible
00:56:50a lot of
00:56:51people say
00:56:52they are
00:56:52but they're
00:56:53not
00:56:53except for
00:56:54some aspects
00:56:55of Christmas
00:56:55so how is
00:56:57Hanukkah
00:56:58and celebration
00:56:58of Hanukkah
00:56:59any different
00:56:59than celebrating
00:57:00Christmas
00:57:01and Easter
00:57:01well
00:57:02number one
00:57:02Christmas
00:57:03and Easter
00:57:04like Hanukkah
00:57:05don't come
00:57:05from Scripture
00:57:06okay
00:57:07so they've got
00:57:08all that in
00:57:08common
00:57:08number two
00:57:10Hanukkah
00:57:12does it
00:57:13go against
00:57:13Scripture
00:57:14well Hanukkah
00:57:15doesn't go
00:57:16against the
00:57:16Bible
00:57:16doesn't go
00:57:17against the
00:57:17commandments
00:57:18of Scripture
00:57:18but Christmas
00:57:20and Easter
00:57:21do because
00:57:21of their
00:57:21origin
00:57:22and the
00:57:23things they
00:57:23stand for
00:57:24and the meaning
00:57:25behind them
00:57:26and the people
00:57:26who created
00:57:27them and all
00:57:27this other
00:57:28stuff
00:57:28and third
00:57:30question
00:57:30does it
00:57:31come from
00:57:31paganism
00:57:32Hanukkah
00:57:33does not
00:57:33but Christmas
00:57:34and Easter
00:57:34do
00:57:35in fact
00:57:36we're in
00:57:36the middle
00:57:36of a series
00:57:37right now
00:57:37on God
00:57:38Honest Truth
00:57:39teaching channel
00:57:40about the
00:57:41Christmas in
00:57:42detail series
00:57:43but Christmas
00:57:44and Easter
00:57:45come from
00:57:45paganism
00:57:46however Hanukkah
00:57:46does not
00:57:47so that
00:57:48is how
00:57:49celebrating
00:57:49Hanukkah
00:57:50is different
00:57:51than celebrating
00:57:52Christmas and
00:57:53Easter
00:57:53but keep
00:57:56all things
00:57:56even
00:57:56gotta keep
00:57:57Hanukkah
00:57:58non-pagan
00:57:59do not
00:58:00institute
00:58:01or implement
00:58:03a Hanukkah
00:58:03bush
00:58:04there's
00:58:05nothing
00:58:05about
00:58:06shrubbery
00:58:07in the
00:58:09story of
00:58:09Hanukkah
00:58:09and shrubbery
00:58:11has nothing
00:58:11to do
00:58:12with Hanukkah
00:58:12in fact
00:58:12this whole
00:58:13use of
00:58:14trees and
00:58:15shrubs
00:58:15in religious
00:58:16worship
00:58:16is
00:58:17dendrolatry
00:58:18and it
00:58:19comes from
00:58:20paganism
00:58:20in fact
00:58:20we did
00:58:21an entire
00:58:22episode
00:58:23on
00:58:23dendrolatry
00:58:24way back
00:58:26at the
00:58:27beginning
00:58:27of our
00:58:28Christmas in
00:58:29detail series
00:58:29so go check
00:58:30that out
00:58:30if you like
00:58:30more information
00:58:31so no
00:58:32Hanukkah
00:58:32bushes
00:58:33but other
00:58:34than that
00:58:34as long as
00:58:35it's a
00:58:36practice that
00:58:36doesn't come
00:58:37from paganism
00:58:37yeah Hanukkah
00:58:39is wonderful
00:58:39and great
00:58:40we do it
00:58:40every single
00:58:41year
00:58:41the kids
00:58:42absolutely
00:58:43love it
00:58:43they love
00:58:44playing dreidel
00:58:44and the story
00:58:45behind it
00:58:46and all this
00:58:47other great
00:58:47stuff
00:58:47so yeah
00:58:49but decide
00:58:50for yourself
00:58:50because like
00:58:52we said
00:58:52Hanukkah
00:58:52does not
00:58:53come from
00:58:54the Bible
00:58:55does not
00:58:55come from
00:58:55scripture
00:58:55so it's
00:58:56not commanded
00:58:56you're not
00:58:57obliged to
00:58:58keep it
00:58:59or celebrate
00:58:59it
00:58:59however it's
00:59:00not wrong
00:59:01if you do
00:59:01so keep
00:59:03all that
00:59:03in mind
00:59:03too
00:59:03something
00:59:05interesting
00:59:06to consider
00:59:06as we
00:59:08are on the
00:59:09subject of
00:59:10Hanukkah
00:59:10number one
00:59:11Hanukkah is
00:59:12called the
00:59:12festival of
00:59:13lights that we
00:59:13went over
00:59:14earlier we saw
00:59:15that with the
00:59:15writings of
00:59:16Josephus even
00:59:17back in the
00:59:17first century
00:59:18Hanukkah is on
00:59:20the 25th day
00:59:21of Kislev
00:59:22the 25th word
00:59:27of the Hebrew
00:59:27Bible
00:59:28in fact you
00:59:28look in the
00:59:29Hebrew
00:59:29manuscripts
00:59:29in the book
00:59:30of Genesis
00:59:30and you
00:59:31count out
00:59:31the word
00:59:3225
00:59:33the 25th
00:59:34word of
00:59:35the Hebrew
00:59:35Bible
00:59:35is light
00:59:37Yeshua
00:59:38himself
00:59:39as we
00:59:40know
00:59:40in the
00:59:40Brit Hadashah
00:59:41refers to
00:59:42himself
00:59:42as the
00:59:43light
00:59:43of the
00:59:44world
00:59:44in John
00:59:48chapter 8
00:59:49verse 12
00:59:49therefore Yeshua
00:59:51spoke to them
00:59:52again saying
00:59:52I am the
00:59:54light of the
00:59:54world
00:59:54he who
00:59:55follows me
00:59:56shall by no
00:59:57means walk
00:59:57in darkness
00:59:58but possess
00:59:59the light
01:00:00of life
01:00:00so Yeshua
01:00:02is the
01:00:03light of the
01:00:03world
01:00:04Hanukkah is
01:00:04the festival
01:00:05of lights
01:00:05there's all
01:00:07kinds of
01:00:07connections going
01:00:08on there
01:00:09much more
01:00:10numerous
01:00:11connections
01:00:12much more
01:00:12strong
01:00:13connections
01:00:14than the
01:00:14connections
01:00:15between
01:00:15Christmas
01:00:16and Yeshua
01:00:17had to throw
01:00:19that in there
01:00:19so now
01:00:21you've learned
01:00:22the back
01:00:23story
01:00:23the prophetic
01:00:23connections
01:00:24you've heard
01:00:25the information
01:00:26from the book
01:00:27of Daniel
01:00:27you went over
01:00:28the story
01:00:28of Hanukkah
01:00:30and some of
01:00:30the history
01:00:31and stuff like
01:00:31that and you're
01:00:31thinking
01:00:32okay this
01:00:33sounds
01:00:33interesting
01:00:34but if I
01:00:35wanted to
01:00:36celebrate it
01:00:36brother
01:00:37how would I
01:00:38celebrate
01:00:39Hanukkah
01:00:39this year
01:00:40with me
01:00:41in mind
01:00:41my family
01:00:42well I'm
01:00:43glad you
01:00:43asked
01:00:44number one
01:00:45the regular
01:00:47menorah like
01:00:48goes in the
01:00:48temple or like
01:00:49most people
01:00:49have on their
01:00:51mantle or on
01:00:51the table
01:00:52stuff like
01:00:52that is a
01:00:53seven branch
01:00:55menorah
01:00:55you have
01:00:56one in the
01:00:56center and you
01:00:57have six that
01:00:58come out on
01:00:58the side
01:00:59and if you're
01:00:59watching the
01:01:00video the
01:01:01menorah that's
01:01:02on the very
01:01:02far left
01:01:03that is a
01:01:04regular
01:01:05typical
01:01:06menorah
01:01:07for the
01:01:09feast or
01:01:10festival of
01:01:11Hanukkah
01:01:11they actually
01:01:12have a
01:01:12nine branch
01:01:14menorah
01:01:15and it was
01:01:15not actually
01:01:16a menorah
01:01:16but it's a
01:01:17candelabra
01:01:17it's a
01:01:18candle holder
01:01:18that looks
01:01:19very similar
01:01:19to a
01:01:20menorah
01:01:21but it's
01:01:22actually called
01:01:22a Hanukkah
01:01:23and unfortunately
01:01:25people mistake
01:01:26these for the
01:01:27same thing
01:01:27and they'll
01:01:28call a
01:01:28Hanukkah
01:01:29a menorah
01:01:29when it's
01:01:30actually not
01:01:31accurate
01:01:31anyways you can
01:01:34see here in the
01:01:35center you have
01:01:35a Hanukkah
01:01:36and then they're
01:01:36on the right
01:01:37and the little
01:01:38video is a
01:01:39Hanukkah
01:01:39as well
01:01:40you have one
01:01:41in the center
01:01:42and that's
01:01:42called the
01:01:42shamash
01:01:43that lights
01:01:45the rest
01:01:45of the
01:01:45candles
01:01:45and then
01:01:46you have
01:01:47four on
01:01:47either side
01:01:48so it's a
01:01:49total of
01:01:49nine all
01:01:50together
01:01:51and the way
01:01:52it works is
01:01:53you light the
01:01:54center candle
01:01:54and you take
01:01:55that center
01:01:55candle and
01:01:56you light
01:01:57a set number
01:01:58of candles
01:01:59each and
01:01:59every night
01:02:00the way we
01:02:01do it is we
01:02:01do it in an
01:02:02increasing number
01:02:03so you light
01:02:04one candle
01:02:05for a total
01:02:06of two
01:02:07on the first
01:02:07night
01:02:07and then you
01:02:09keep on going
01:02:10and the second
01:02:10night you light
01:02:11two candles
01:02:12for a total
01:02:12of three
01:02:12remember you're
01:02:14including the
01:02:14shamash here
01:02:15and then on the
01:02:16third night you're
01:02:17including you're
01:02:18lighting three
01:02:19candles for a
01:02:20total of four
01:02:21so on and so
01:02:21forth until you
01:02:22get all the
01:02:23candles lit up
01:02:24and if you're
01:02:24looking from
01:02:25outside the
01:02:25window a lot
01:02:26of people and
01:02:27we do the same
01:02:28thing a lot of
01:02:29people they'll put
01:02:29their Hanukkah
01:02:30in a window for
01:02:31the whole world
01:02:32to see so as
01:02:33you drive by our
01:02:34house every
01:02:36single night of
01:02:36Hanukkah you'll
01:02:37be able to see a
01:02:38growing brightness
01:02:40with our Hanukkah
01:02:41and this is
01:02:42like the growing
01:02:43brightness of
01:02:45Yahweh's word
01:02:45and his people
01:02:46and the spread
01:02:47of well you
01:02:48get the idea
01:02:49but it's a
01:02:50growing light
01:02:51now other
01:02:51people have
01:02:52other customs
01:02:53they'll start
01:02:53with lighting
01:02:54all the candles
01:02:55on the first
01:02:55night and
01:02:57then working
01:02:57their way
01:02:57down the
01:02:59reasoning behind
01:03:00that I don't
01:03:00really know I
01:03:01haven't got that
01:03:02far into it but
01:03:03just know that
01:03:03some people do
01:03:04things differently
01:03:05we go in
01:03:06increasing light
01:03:08and I think
01:03:09that's pretty
01:03:10standard anyways
01:03:11but there's also
01:03:13a little game
01:03:14that uses a top
01:03:15called dreidel
01:03:16and my kids
01:03:18absolutely love
01:03:20playing dreidel
01:03:21however if you're
01:03:26watching on video
01:03:27you can see here
01:03:28on your screen
01:03:29you have some
01:03:30examples of what
01:03:31various dreidels
01:03:32look like
01:03:32you can go
01:03:33extremely fancy
01:03:35or you can get
01:03:35very basic
01:03:36it just all
01:03:37depends
01:03:37and the way
01:03:39this works
01:03:39is you
01:03:40use
01:03:41traditionally
01:03:43what's called
01:03:44gelt
01:03:44and this is
01:03:45little chocolate
01:03:45coins wrapped
01:03:46in some kind
01:03:47of gold
01:03:47or silver
01:03:48foil wrapping
01:03:49and you take
01:03:51your gelt
01:03:52each player
01:03:52takes their gelt
01:03:53and they put
01:03:53some in the
01:03:54middle of the
01:03:54pot
01:03:55and you spin
01:03:56the dreidel
01:03:57each player
01:03:57takes a turn
01:03:58and spin
01:03:58the dreidel
01:03:58if it lands
01:04:00on a noon
01:04:01then you do
01:04:02nothing
01:04:03you get nothing
01:04:04you do nothing
01:04:04you just go
01:04:05on to the next
01:04:06player
01:04:06you land
01:04:07on a gimel
01:04:07you get
01:04:08everything
01:04:09in the pot
01:04:09and then everybody
01:04:11puts another piece
01:04:11back in to
01:04:12resupply the pot
01:04:14if it lands
01:04:16on a hay
01:04:16on your span
01:04:18you get half
01:04:18of the pot
01:04:19but if you land
01:04:21on a shin
01:04:22or a sheen
01:04:23you put one
01:04:24in the middle
01:04:25put one in the pot
01:04:26you increase the pot
01:04:27you take away
01:04:28from your stash
01:04:29so it's noon
01:04:30gimel
01:04:31hay and sheen
01:04:32noon
01:04:33you get none
01:04:34it lands on gimel
01:04:35you get all
01:04:36it lands on hay
01:04:37you get half
01:04:38it lands on shin
01:04:39you put one in
01:04:40that's always how
01:04:41I remember it
01:04:42now just a little bit
01:04:43of a back story
01:04:43to the dreidel
01:04:45there's a
01:04:45a myth that's
01:04:48going around
01:04:48or has been
01:04:49going around
01:04:49for a while
01:04:50that during the time
01:04:52of the oppression
01:04:53of the Greeks
01:04:54and the Antiochists
01:04:55that people were
01:04:56forbidden to
01:04:57have a Torah
01:04:58or live out Torah
01:05:00or teach
01:05:01or study Torah
01:05:02stuff like that
01:05:02so they come up
01:05:03with this dreidel
01:05:04and they would
01:05:05spin it around
01:05:05into the Greeks
01:05:06it would just look
01:05:08like a simple
01:05:08little game
01:05:09but they were
01:05:10actually
01:05:11learning Torah
01:05:13that way
01:05:13however that story
01:05:14is not true
01:05:15at all
01:05:15the whole game
01:05:17of dreidel
01:05:18doesn't come about
01:05:18until
01:05:19I want to say
01:05:20the middle ages
01:05:21up in Europe
01:05:21and Germany
01:05:22and it was actually
01:05:24adopted from
01:05:25the secular culture
01:05:27around them
01:05:28they had a
01:05:28winter game
01:05:30called
01:05:31Trundle
01:05:31man I've got
01:05:33to put this
01:05:34actually in the
01:05:34slides if I want
01:05:35to get right
01:05:35it was adopted
01:05:37from another custom
01:05:38and eventually
01:05:39they replaced
01:05:40with the four
01:05:41different letters
01:05:42and these four
01:05:43different letters
01:05:44eventually came
01:05:45to stand
01:05:46for a phrase
01:05:47and the phrase
01:05:49is
01:05:49and that means
01:05:51a great miracle
01:05:52happened there
01:05:53and of course
01:05:55this all
01:05:55came about
01:05:56before the
01:05:57restoration of Israel
01:05:59in the late
01:05:5940s
01:06:001940s
01:06:01and after that
01:06:03it was changed
01:06:04a little bit
01:06:05and now
01:06:06if you're
01:06:07in Israel
01:06:08you don't say
01:06:09Neskadol HaYasham
01:06:10because that means
01:06:12a great miracle
01:06:12happened there
01:06:13in fact
01:06:14you are
01:06:14in Israel
01:06:15you are there
01:06:16where that great
01:06:17miracle happened
01:06:17so
01:06:18in that case
01:06:19you would say
01:06:20Neskadol HaYapo
01:06:22a great miracle
01:06:24happened
01:06:24here
01:06:25a little bit
01:06:27different
01:06:27but not too bad
01:06:28don't worry
01:06:30about it
01:06:30it's not
01:06:31required
01:06:31to memorize
01:06:33that or know
01:06:33it
01:06:33that's just a little
01:06:35bit of information
01:06:35on the dreidel
01:06:36the dreidel game
01:06:37and dreidel itself
01:06:37came about
01:06:38many many centuries
01:06:39after the events
01:06:41of Hanukkah
01:06:42so just keep that
01:06:43in mind
01:06:43so now you've got
01:06:45the Hanukkah
01:06:46and the difference
01:06:47between a Hanukkah
01:06:48and a menorah
01:06:50you've got the dreidel
01:06:50how to play that
01:06:51what it looks like
01:06:52et cetera
01:06:53et cetera
01:06:53so now let's get
01:06:55into one of the
01:06:56most exciting parts
01:06:57something I like
01:06:58really good
01:06:59it's the food
01:07:00part of the
01:07:01festival of Hanukkah
01:07:02and the theme
01:07:04here is
01:07:05fried
01:07:06use some kind
01:07:07of oil
01:07:08to fry stuff
01:07:10things that are
01:07:12commonly
01:07:13and traditionally
01:07:14eaten
01:07:14at Hanukkah
01:07:16is latkes
01:07:17which are potato
01:07:18pancakes
01:07:18and oh so good
01:07:20if you've never
01:07:21had a latke
01:07:22you really are
01:07:23to find someone
01:07:23who knows how
01:07:24to make them
01:07:24and have them
01:07:25make them for you
01:07:26because they are
01:07:27outstanding
01:07:28there's also
01:07:29something called
01:07:30sufganiyot
01:07:31which is a
01:07:32jelly filled
01:07:33donut
01:07:33briskets
01:07:34is commonly
01:07:35had on Hanukkah
01:07:37which is
01:07:38absolutely awesome
01:07:38briskets good
01:07:39anytime in my
01:07:40opinion
01:07:40there's matzo
01:07:41ball soup
01:07:42which is
01:07:43traditionally eaten
01:07:43matzo ball soup
01:07:44is good anytime
01:07:45luca mates
01:07:46are eaten
01:07:47traditionally
01:07:47at Hanukkah
01:07:49and of course
01:07:50you're going to
01:07:51have a feast
01:07:52other than
01:07:52Passover
01:07:53you're going
01:07:54to have
01:07:55challah
01:07:56because challah
01:07:57bread is good
01:07:58anytime of the year
01:07:59and these are
01:08:00just traditional
01:08:01things that are
01:08:03usually eaten
01:08:04during the
01:08:05festival of Hanukkah
01:08:05but you can
01:08:06come up with
01:08:06your own
01:08:07food
01:08:08your own
01:08:08menu
01:08:09as it were
01:08:10like I said
01:08:11the general
01:08:12theme
01:08:13of Hanukkah
01:08:14is just
01:08:16try it
01:08:17use oil
01:08:17and
01:08:18try it
01:08:19this course
01:08:20all goes back
01:08:21to the story
01:08:21of the miracle
01:08:22of the oil
01:08:23which we have
01:08:23no evidence
01:08:24actually happened
01:08:25during the story
01:08:26of Hanukkah
01:08:26but it's fun
01:08:28and there's no
01:08:29reason to really
01:08:29discount it
01:08:30just no evidence
01:08:32to actually believe
01:08:32it either
01:08:33somewhere
01:08:33in that gray area
01:08:35in the middle
01:08:35I guess
01:08:36so that is
01:08:37Hanukkah
01:08:38that is where
01:08:38it came from
01:08:39the backstory
01:08:40what it's all about
01:08:41how to celebrate
01:08:43it various food
01:08:44and symbols
01:08:44and customs
01:08:45and all that good
01:08:45stuff
01:08:46so in summary
01:08:47to our teaching
01:08:49tonight about
01:08:49Hanukkah
01:08:51Hanukkah
01:08:52means dedication
01:08:53or actually
01:08:54more accurately
01:08:55at least in
01:08:55my opinion
01:08:56it means
01:08:56re-dedication
01:08:58Hanukkah
01:08:59is not one
01:09:00of the
01:09:00Moadim
01:09:00outlined in
01:09:01the Torah
01:09:02so it's not
01:09:03something that
01:09:03you're obliged
01:09:04to keep
01:09:04or celebrate
01:09:05but it's
01:09:06something that
01:09:07you can
01:09:08if you like
01:09:08it doesn't
01:09:09go against
01:09:09the Torah
01:09:10Hanukkah
01:09:11is connected
01:09:12with Daniel's
01:09:13prophecy
01:09:13like we saw
01:09:14there
01:09:15we went
01:09:15through that
01:09:16fairly in
01:09:17depth
01:09:17but we
01:09:17could always
01:09:18go more
01:09:19in depth
01:09:19if we
01:09:19wanted to
01:09:20Hanukkah
01:09:21is connected
01:09:22with our
01:09:22Messiah
01:09:23Yeshua
01:09:23we saw
01:09:24Yeshua
01:09:25celebrating
01:09:25and keeping
01:09:26the feast
01:09:27or festival
01:09:28of Hanukkah
01:09:28Hanukkah
01:09:30is connected
01:09:31also with
01:09:32some of the
01:09:32end times
01:09:33prophecies
01:09:34that
01:09:34and things
01:09:35that will
01:09:35happen
01:09:35in the
01:09:36end times
01:09:36that we
01:09:36saw
01:09:37there
01:09:37with the
01:09:38Antichrist
01:09:39and the
01:09:39abomination
01:09:39of desolation
01:09:40etc.
01:09:41etc.
01:09:43Antiochus
01:09:44the fourth
01:09:45epiphanies
01:09:45some of
01:09:46the things
01:09:47we saw
01:09:47with that
01:09:47we didn't
01:09:48really point
01:09:48it out
01:09:48specifically
01:09:49but
01:09:49Antiochus
01:09:50in the
01:09:51story of
01:09:51Hanukkah
01:09:51is actually
01:09:52a foreshadowing
01:09:54or a
01:09:54foretype
01:09:54of the
01:09:55Antichrist
01:09:56that will
01:09:56be coming
01:09:57in the
01:09:57end time
01:09:58Hanukkah
01:10:00remembers
01:10:00and celebrates
01:10:01the amazing
01:10:02and awesome
01:10:02power
01:10:03of Yahweh
01:10:04so even
01:10:05though it's
01:10:06not in the
01:10:06Bible
01:10:07it's still
01:10:08a great
01:10:09example
01:10:09and a great
01:10:10celebration
01:10:11of the
01:10:12grace
01:10:12and mercy
01:10:13and power
01:10:14of Yahweh
01:10:15delivering
01:10:15his people
01:10:16and Hanukkah
01:10:18at least
01:10:18in my
01:10:19opinion
01:10:19and many
01:10:20others
01:10:21too
01:10:21Hanukkah
01:10:22is still
01:10:23for us
01:10:23today
01:10:24the lessons
01:10:26and the
01:10:27morals
01:10:27that we can
01:10:29learn from
01:10:29that and
01:10:30the prophetic
01:10:30connections
01:10:31even the
01:10:32celebration
01:10:32and the
01:10:33wonderful
01:10:33fried food
01:10:34all of
01:10:35that
01:10:35is still
01:10:36for us
01:10:37today
01:10:37and that
01:10:38is just
01:10:39the God
01:10:39honest
01:10:40truth
01:10:40so thank
01:10:42you for
01:10:42joining us
01:10:42for this
01:10:43particular
01:10:43teaching
01:10:44we hope
01:10:45that you
01:10:45did get
