Peter Weber — who is known as "Pilot Pete" — is edging out a fan favorite and a historic option for the lead 2020 role.
Transcript
00:00Pilot Peter may be heading back to the windmill. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the
00:11standout from Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette is the front-runner to be the
00:16next Bachelor. The 28-year-old Delta pilot from California went viral when Hannah revealed she
00:20hooked up with him not once, not twice, but four times in a windmill-themed fantasy suite.
00:24I did say there was something that Peter and I did twice. It was actually four times.
00:34Peter's mom's on board. Host Chris Harrison had confirmed to THR earlier this month that Peter
00:38and Mike Johnson were both good options in the running for the starring gig. Mike, who'd be the
00:44franchise's first-ever black male lead, is currently appearing on Bachelor in Paradise and dating Sydney
00:49on the show. Now, because The Bachelor doesn't premiere until early January, producers typically
00:53wait to see how Bachelor Nation responds to prospects over the summer while Paradise is airing before
00:58naming the next star. Last year, Colton Underwood was announced as The Bachelor in early September.
01:03A surprise name to emerge from Paradise has been Derek, but a source says he hasn't had any official
01:07talks about the role. Sources also say one man has fallen out of the top mix, Hannah B's runner-up,
01:13Tyler Cameron, because, if you haven't heard, he's currently dating supermodel Gigi Hadid.
01:18Ultimately, Harrison says the choice comes down to someone being genuine in a search for love
01:22and making an entertaining TV show.
01:24Alright, so who do you want to see be the next Bachelor? Be sure to tweet me and let me know.
01:28Until next time, for The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
