00:00The 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade rolled through New York City this year,
00:03bringing balloons, bands, and plenty of surprises. But three moments really had
00:07viewers talking and maybe even raising an eyebrow or two. Here's our top three most
00:12unexpected moments from the 2025 parade. Coming in at number three, Mrs. Claus caused a stir.
00:19The parade ended as always with Santa Claus arriving on his sleigh, but all eyes weren't
00:23on him this year. They were on Mrs. Claus instead. After two years of celebrity Mrs. Claus's,
00:28including Cheryl Lee Ralph in 2023 and Liza Colon Zayas in 2024, the 2025 parade returned to
00:36tradition with a non-celebrity performer. But the controversy was she appeared to be of Asian
00:41descent. Social media reactions were mixed. Some praised her saying she looks beautiful.
00:46Some joked, does Santa get a new wife every year? And some were critical. One stated that was
00:52horrifying cultural appropriation. And coming in at number two, the parade also introduced a
00:57completely new kind of float this year, Pop Mart's Friendsgiving and Pop City. It featured Labubu,
01:03the viral collectible toy, along with Makoko, Skull Panda, and Molly. The float showcased 16-foot
01:09tall fuzzy inflatable sculptures, marking the first time, quote, fuzzy inflatables appeared in Macy's
01:14history. While some fans loved the debut, others collectively seemed frustrated and annoyed.
01:19One critic wrote, please put that thing away. This year has been hard enough.
01:24And another explained, we used to have a proper parade. Bringing us to our number one unexpected
01:29moment, that honor goes to Shaggy, performing a melody of his hits on the Ginny O' Big Turkey
01:35spectacular float. The Jamaican-American reggae musician kicked things off with Mr. Bombtastic,
01:40then, to the surprise of families and elementary schoolers alike, launched into It Wasn't Me,
01:45his famously adult song about getting caught cheating. And while Shaggy carefully cut the explicit
01:50lyrics, so no butt naked or banging on the bathroom floor, that didn't stop parents from
01:55double-checking the lyrics on the spot. Social media quickly exploded. Some were concerned about
02:00the children. Stephanie stated, why is Shaggy singing It Wasn't Me on the Thanksgiving Day
02:05parade? I mean, I'm not complaining, but the kids. While fans shared their excitement, one wrote,
02:11this is the type of shenanigans we are here for. And another stated, yo, did Thanksgiving transport back
02:16to 99 or is it just me? And maybe that was the point, since it was the 99th annual parade.
02:22But love it or hated, those were the moments that everyone was talking about. Share your favorite
