00:00Drake has broken his silence over the tragic events that occurred at Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival in Houston.
00:06The rapper, who is a featured guest during Scott's headline set, took to Instagram on Monday night
00:11to issue a statement regarding the tragedy when trouble in the crowd led to a mass crush
00:16and the death of eight people and injuries to many more.
00:20I've spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy.
00:24I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief,
00:29but this is where I find myself.
00:31He continued,
00:31According to Houston's fire department, an estimated 50,000 people were at the concert Friday night at NRG Park
00:50when trouble started brewing shortly after 9 p.m.
00:53It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the crowd to start moving towards the stage while Scott was performing,
00:59but authorities said they would review drone and on-the-ground footage.
01:02Houston authorities said the ages of the victims ranged from 14 to 27.
01:07Additionally, 25 people were transported to the hospital, with 13 still hospitalized,
01:13five of whom are under the age of 18.
01:15Scott has pledged refunds for all ticket holders to the festival
01:19and said he would cover funeral costs for the victims' families.
01:22On Sunday, a lawsuit was filed by Texas attorney Thomas J. Henry against Scott, Drake, Live Nation and NRG Stadium
01:30on behalf of one of the victims.
01:32Drake did not comment on the lawsuit.
