Transcript
00:00There's a documentary called Citizen Harvey, which is going to debut in Cannes, in the market.
00:05Are they stealing my title?
00:08Citizen Harvey?
00:09Yeah, it's with the BBC.
00:11Yeah, so tell me your reaction to that besides that.
00:14I think that speaks for itself.
00:17That's weird.
00:19That really makes me, that title makes me really uncomfortable that Citizen Rose was first.
00:24And that it is about, that's really weird.
00:30That makes me, I've not heard about that, that I'm hearing about it in real time.
00:37And that's what's so interesting about all of this, is all unfolding in real time.
00:40So when people ask what's next, I'm like, I don't know, we've never been here as a society.
00:43Women have never been believed, ever.
00:45Women have not been listened to.
00:47When I shaved my head, the side effect was that people could hear me for the first time.
00:51So I wanted to see if women could be heard without having to shave their heads.
00:53There's just a lot of wrong in the world, but there's so much right.
00:57And I think we all know that when you can get rid of the cancer, things will be better for us societally.
01:02And I, you know, I started all this because I wanted to see if I could make time go faster.
01:06I knew eventually we'd get here, but I got bored.
01:08And I was like, okay, let's get smarter.
01:09Chop, chop.
01:12I'm really grateful to Tarana Burke for writing that hashtag, you know, 10 years ago.
01:16Hashtag me too.
01:17It gave us a common language, you know, men and women and everybody under that spectrum.
01:23You know, we had our lives stolen in many ways.
01:26And also the public, as a member of the public, as an audience member, we missed an awful lot
01:30from an awful lot of people who could have given a lot.
01:34And the fact that I had any kind of career, despite being heavily blacklisted, which still
01:38continues to this day, is kind of a testament that there are ways to get around the system.
01:43Four years ago, I started really pushing at Hollywood, kind of pushing at the power structure,
01:47waking it up, waking it up, waking it up, see different.
01:50And as people that put thought and image and sound out to the world, we have a responsibility.
01:56We really, really do.
01:58I think what's cool about Citizen Rose is that I'm not afraid at all of calling it reality
02:03because it really is my reality.
02:05They gave the okay at Bun and Murray, the production company.
02:09They gave the green light to it or got it before the stories came out.
02:12And I just said, something really big is going to happen.
02:14You have to trust me.
02:17There's so much I wanted to say.
02:18And I knew I was saying a lot in the book and with the articles.
02:21But I knew Citizen Rose.
02:23I wanted to show people what trauma is like and what it's like to live in this.
02:27It's just a weird life.
02:29Ha ha!
