00:00Please welcome my blue-collar panelist, Michael Moore.

00:06He's terrific, I tell you. I loved what he did.

00:09If I was Roger, I wouldn't have liked it, but I enjoyed it.

00:13I hope he never does one on me, though.

00:15Tavern on the Green, 1998.

00:18Roseanne Barr, after her sitcom was over,

00:21ABC gave her an afternoon talk show,

00:24and she invited me to come on the show.

00:26When I got there, the other guest was Donald Trump.

00:28We didn't know each other were going to be on the show.

00:30When he saw that I was there, he got up to leave.

00:33The producer of the show came to me and said,

00:35can you convince him to stay, please?

00:37Just tell him you will be nice to him.

00:39You're not going to bring up this bankruptcy

00:42or that awful shady dealing of his or whatever.

00:45Just go talk to him.

00:46And I felt bad, and Roseanne, at the time,

00:49was a good person and good political.

00:53So I wanted to help save her show that day,

00:56so I went over to him, and I said,

00:58you know, they told me that you're worried.

01:00I just want you to know that you don't have to worry.

01:02We're not, this is an afternoon show.

01:04We're going to keep it light.

01:05Roseanne's a comedian.

01:07Don't, I'm not, nothing's going to happen.

01:10I promise you.

01:11We're going to have a good time.

01:12And he's like, oh, okay.

01:14Okay, good.

01:15Good, good.

01:16Yeah, no, I'm not worried.

01:17I'm not worried.

01:18So he stayed, and we did the show.

01:20And I did not bring up anything political or financial

01:25or anything that would have upset him.

01:28It wasn't until when I first saw him running for president now,

01:32many, many years later, that I realized that I'd been played.

01:35You know, I would like to think it's pretty hard to, you know,

01:38to pull one over on me.

01:40But he, he did.

01:43And I thought, wow, this is how it's worked his whole life.

01:46He knows just how to create the environment,

01:49how to create the situation to where I'm going to feel bad

01:54because he feels bad and Roseanne's not going to have her show.

01:58And so I'm going to make this work.

02:00And he manipulated the whole situation.

02:02And I realized then that this guy is no dummy.

02:05This guy is not stupid.

02:10He is truly one of the great performance artists of our time.

02:14And, and it was a very important lesson to learn.

02:18He has told Fox News that he and I have had dinner a couple of times.

02:23I have not had dinner with him.

02:26I gave up KFC a long time ago.
