00:00Absolutely, the Winter Wreck is truly one of the rarest items that you can find.
00:29Faberge created only 50 imperial Easter eggs for the Romanov family over the period of 31 years, and out of those 50, only 43 still exist, so seven are missing.
00:41Out of those 43, only seven left in private hands, so it just shows you how rare and how important the Winter Wreck is.
00:49It's one of only seven imperial Easter eggs you can still essentially purchase for your collection.
00:54So, yes, the Winter Wreck changed a few important British collections in the 20th century, until in 1975 it was considered lost.
01:06The previous owner passed away and no one really knew where it was. For 20 years, experts and specialists lost the sight of it.
01:16Until 1994, when it was rediscovered and brought to Christie's for sale in Geneva. That's when we sold it for the first time.
01:24Eight years later, in 2002, we sold it again. And important to note that each time Winter Wreck comes up on the market, it sets the new world record for work by Faberge.
01:34Yes, the Winter Wreck is undoubtedly the best creation you can still buy by Faberge. It's the ultimate trophy piece, so to say, and not just for Faberge collectors,
01:44but for any collector who appreciates rare masterpieces with history. So we expect it to sell in excess of 20 million and set the new world record, which it deserves.
01:54So, thank you very much for joining us today.
